Pick Michael Jackson’s Nose…

…up for only $30 – on eBay that is. Looks like a total fake so it could actually be his nose – you just can’t tell these days!

Got Art?

If you like art then you’ll love the winner of the 2002 Flash Awards (in the non-interactive section) called KunstBar – it definitely helps if you know your Da Vinci from your Dali.

Random Personal Picture Finder

This is an interesting use for Google – diddly.com have devised a Random Personal Picture Finder which searches for random image names (mostly based on the default digital camera imagenames) – you can get some weird results!

The latest quiz from b3ta is a Celebrity or Look-alike photo quiz and it’s not quite as easy as you’d think.

New use for eBay

From the “Why didn’t I think of that” dept.: Lend someone $60 til next friday and he promises to pay you back with interest. Well, I guess if savekaryn.com can raise $20,000 then sixty bucks shouldn’t be that hard!

Do you want pri.me.uk in your inbox?

I can quite easily set up a system whereby you can get sent all the posts on pri.me.uk (that’s this site – numbskull!). You can chose whether to receive a new email every time a post is made or pick daily or weekly digests (ie: one mail with a day or a week’s worth of posts).

Does this sound good to anyone? Obviously I won’t bother to set it up unless there is a demand for it but it would save you from having visit this site every day or remembering the website address. Let me know if you want me to do this by leaving a comment below or mailing me at subscribe @ pri.me.uk
.

Ugh! Man make fire. Fire good.

Rob from Cockeyed.com (one of the best websites ever and one that embodies everything that the interweb is meant to be) has beentrying to make fire without matches – it took him almost a week. Please check out the rest of his site but be prepared to still be there, reading his exploits 4 hours later.

Pencil sharpener

Dalton Ghetti might have a silly name but just look at what he does with pencils and patience. I thought “Wow!” at least three times whilst reading the article and I’m not easily impressed (no comments please).

Why cats eat earwax

Not tried this myself as i suspect that my cat would hold a grudge against me if he found out what I’d done (my cat, like all others is inherently evil but hides it well in a mass of white fur which he sheds all over me every morning). Anyway, a question came up on b3ta the other day about cats eating earwax. One of the b3ta guys wrote this explanation up . It’s quite interesting reading.

Alternate Lord of The Rings scene

This one is from the MTV Video Awards a couple of months ago. Starring Sarah Michelle Gellar & Jack Black, it’s the real story behind why the ‘Ring’ is so important. It’s a 2.5Mb d/load but worth every second as it’s one of the funniest sketches I’ve seen – nearly up there with the Walken-Cowbell sketch! (If you don’t know that – use the search box on the right hand side of this site to find it in the archives)

NEW SEARCH OPTION!

Sorry for shouting but I’ve just managed to put a new search option on the page after getting a few requests for one. This means that you can now search in the archives for old post. The only catch is that you’ll have to use a word that Iused in the post for it to find it (obvious really) and also the search result description are cack (they’re all the same!) so it’s not that easy to see if you’ve got the right page. But after testing it by searching for ‘cowbell’ (the Christopher Walken SNL sketch) – and getting the page first time – it seems to work well. Hopefully it’s also self-updating so I never have to touch it again (until I get over 500 pages that is!)

Anyway, it’s in the right hand nav-bar so please test it out and leave comments in the usual unreliable comments section (which is the next thing to sort out!)

How to destroy someone’s computer from your website

Forgive me for getting geeky again but just found this exploit on Bugtraq, the security site, which gives an alarming amount of detail into a way of taking control over someone else’s pc using a very simple webpage. I’m not too comfortable about posting it here but the hope is that since the info is already out in the wild, a fix will be more rapidly forthcoming. For those of you less geeky (and, trust me, I’m jealous of you) what this boils down to is that someone could use this code to build a webpage that could format your hard drive just by you visiting a website. Nasty, indeed.

Wanna watch an autopsy?

I still haven’t managed to get down to the Atlantis Gallery in London to see the Body Worlds exhibiton but luckily they’ve extended the run into the new year. More importantly, Prof. Von Hagens, the instigator, has announced a live public autopsy – wonder if that will actually go ahead?

This is what it might look like. (This might be a bit too geeky for most of you. In case it is, nmap is a tool for scanning ports on servers and is used by hackers – and people like me)
