Need another KitschMas present?

Feeling sad? Want a reassuring hug? How about a hug from Jesus? You could even carry Jesus around in your pocket (if you’re the type of freak who buys this sh1te!)

Funereal Oddness

To file under the “WTF” dept;

Here’s an Italian coffin makers website which has decided that coffins are sexy (Caution NSFW).

In fact, they think that they’re so full of it that they’ve made a sexy calendar for their customers. But what I really want to know is, who is mike and why is she so upset with him that she’s had a restraining order tattoo’d on her back?

New toys from Google

Google have released two new toys from their labs -

Google Viewer displays your search results as a slideshow of the resulting pages images

Google Webquotes adds comments from other websites to your search results to give a third party opinion about the pages returned.

Both are still experimental so results can be not quite as expected but still fun.

360 Degrees of Capitalism

This is very cool – you’ll need Quicktime 5 to view it but assuming that you have it already, pop on over to this site to see a Full Screen QTVR of Times Square in New York. Very nice indeed. Loads more on the main page of the site if you like that one.

Marvel Comics to unveil gay gunslinger

Marvel comics have just announced that they are to introduce the first gay title character in any of their comics. Apparently whilst they won’t explictly refer to the character as gay, a lot of euphmisms and double entendres will be used. Sounds like the Lone Ranger meets Are You Being Served!

Canada expected to have ‘high’ influx of American tourists

It looks like Canada might be about to legalise cannabis in the very near future. Expect a whole lot less jokes from the Americans in the future about their far more intelligent neighbours. (was that partisan enough?)

Courtney Love fails again.

The eternal failure that is Courtney Love has attempted to serve a Cease & Desist order on thesmokinggun.com after they posted a report on a ‘doctor’ who allegedly was very free with his prescriptions to famous people. Funnily enough, the Smoking Gun has decided to ignore the order. ;)

Gadgets for God

Wondering what to get the bible-basher in your life for Xmas? (note that I said bible-basher, which is different to a bishop-basher!) Try buying some Gadgets for God or try one of their specially themed Kitschmas gifts.

Pixel Pr0n

Adam Connelly is an artist who makes pr0n pictures that you could show to your mum (possibly) – just hold them very close to her face and she won’t notice a thing! (SFW as long as no-one looks too closely but be careful!)

Remix Relays

This is a new idea to me but it’s one of those that I can’t believe I never thought of. A Remix Relay is an album where the second track is a remix of the first track, the third track is a remix of the second track etc. The only bone of contention with the relay participants seems to be “where does the original source come from?” Stereolab (haven’t heard from them for a long time) released a relay album a few years ago called Chinese Whispers where the first track was done by them anonymously and consisted of samples from a DAT tape.

Another example of this remix relay is endlessnessism – if anyone has either of these albums then I’d love to hear them.

X-Mas toys

Still not sure what to buy me for X-Mas? well, here are some ideas. Firstly, how about a Dual Screen Laptop PC?

Or an aluminium 17″ flat monitor?

If you’re feeling really flush then you could combine the two?

At the cheaper end of the market, how about a USB-powered torch to eat up my laptop power even quicker than before?

Or how abuot helping my addiction to online gaming with a flash new claw-like controller which is similar to this hand pad and not too dis-similar to this hand pad. (sad aren’t I?)

This made me laugh – this guy reckons he’s made a A Nintendo GameCube Emulator for *nix systems. The screen shots should make you wary enough – he’s got it running on a ZXSpectrum and even on a pinball machine. Hmmm.

Molecular computers draw closer

Scientists working in America have managed to store 1k of data in a molecule by manipulating the atoms inside. They can only store the data for 1 thenth of a second but this is amazing considering that you can build an entire website in only 5k.

“Hi, my PC is making odd sounds”

Not your usual tech support problem this one – a student at the University of Queensland in Australia found out why his computer wasn’t working – it had a snake in the power supply. Here’s the piccies of the dead snake as it was found in the machine. I can only guess that it liked the heat from the power supply but I can tell you that I’d have run away crying like a little girl if I’d found it!

Tony Hawks vs Tony Hawks

Ok, most of you know the name Tony Hawks but when you hear the name, who are you thinking of? I’d probably guess that most people think of the American skater but there’s also an English comedian/author/Chart-topping recording artist (remember Morris Minor & the Majors? No? That’s probably lucky then). The English Tony gets lots of emails that mistake him for his far ‘cooler’ namesake. I bet the American Tony never recorded a hit single with Norman Wisdom (well, it was a hit in Albania), travelled round Ireland with a fridge or played the entire Moldovan football team at tennis to win a bet.

Where the hell is Honduras anyway?

Honduras’ lawmakers have decided that the best way to tackle increasing levels of violence in their country is to ban violent video games – mind you, they’ll probably claim a 100% success rate seeing as no-one is playing those decade-old games these days anyway.
