Beastie Boys protest
They’ve come a long way from the ‘Fight for your Right’ days – the Beastie Boys have now taken on the Bob Dylan role in this forthcoming war by releasing a protest song called ‘In a World Gone Mad’ available from their website.
Arctic Blue
Ferry Halim writes the cutest flash games on the web – his latest one is Arctic Blue which, like all his others is very simple but addicitive – one click is all you have to do.
Spun the Movie
My cousin’s first major movie is finally getting a release (albeit limited at first) – it’s called Spun and has an amazing cast list (Brittany Murphy, Mena Suvari, Mickey Rourke, Ron Jeremy, Patrick Fugit, Crispin Glover, Alexis Arquette, Deborah Harry amongst others). Every review I’ve seen so far says that it’s the film that will resurrect Mickey Rourke’s career and judging from the bits that I’ve seen, they’re right. It’s not a pleasant movie but should be a big student favourite – think True romance meets the ‘Smack my bitch up’ video (which was done by the same team).
Nunlander
There can be only one higher power! Nunlander is b3tan-bloke Mung’s first attempt at a flash game – it’s quite a good first attempt.
Hello Kitty problems
The bosses at sanrio (the makers of Hello Kitty) have made a bit of a mistake with the name of their new character.
And another one!
Blimey – someone really needs to check up on their staff – another Guardian cricket report.
Classic quotes:
“Meanwhile Kevin Lacey, who says he loves brown sauce sandwiches – yes, without anything else – wants to know if anyone else has strange food fetishes” & “Like British holidaymaker in Greece who’s eaten something dodgy and spent several hours in the toilet, then taken Imodium only to see the effects wear off, the runs are flowing again”
This has had the whole office here cracking up all afternoon!
What is up with the Guardian cricket journalists today?
Here’s another journalist losing it today – what do they put in the water there?
Best Link Ever (but you’ve gotta be quick!)
Quick! – Click on this link. It won’t be there for long I guarantee it! Looks like Scott Murray won’t be working at the Guardian for much longer after his bosses read this cricket report.
Sample quote:
“I’LL BE VERY SURPRISED IF ANY OF MY BOSSES WILL READ ANY OF THIS LET’S BE HONEST THEY WON’T ALTHOUGH ON THE OTHER HAND THAT’S PROBABLY JUST AS WELL HEY I WOULDN’T BE ABLE TO GET AWAY WITH TYPING THINGS LIKE THIS KIqL!UYS^%$DFLI ZSDSAFC SFE4O92 ”
Absolute Genius. If it’s gone down by the time you read this then here’s a zipfile of the whole page.
Many, many thanks to Carl for this one.
Movie map of Britain
Want to know where they filmed certain films round the UK or just intrigued to see what was filmed near you? It’s not perfect but the British Moviemap is a good idea.
Puma Denies Responsibility For Explicit Ads
File under ‘Yeah, Right’;
Puma have denied all knowledge for the recent explicit Ads that I posted the other day.
Funny Microsoft Knowledge Base Articles
Amusing Microsoft support documents including; ‘Network Adapter Does Not Work if Unplugged …’, ‘HOW TO: RTFM ‘ & ‘Repeating ALT+TAB, ALT+ENTER, or ALT+ESC Corrupts Display “RESOLUTION: Do not press ALT+TAB, ALT+ENTER, or ALT+ESC repeatedly….” ‘
Ball Pcs
Really funky new mini-pcs all shiney & spherical. Shame you have to open them up to attach any leads though.
Vice star’s cash stash
Why did Don Johnson have $5Billion in the boot of his car when he was stopped by police in Germany? Surely Miami Vice re-runs & Nash Bridges never paid that well?
Tron-tastic
Remember Tron? Here’s a really good online version of the famous light bike racing scene. It’s very fast though. For the really adventurous, you could try the multiplayer online version.
Cool and Strange Music Compilation
For anyone who’s been following my persistent linkage to the 365Day Project might be interested to know that you can get an entire album’s worth of Cool and Strange Music directly from Otis’ friend Dana Countryman. If you like odd music then you’ll love this (everyone else will just scratch their heads in bemusement)
Sex Sells?
There have been some interesting new adverts doing the rounds that have followed on from the infamous Club 18-30 adverts. This time the dodginess has been done by Gucci, Flirt vodka & Puma trainers. Personally I find the club 18-30 & Flirt ones funny, the Gucci one desperate for attention & the Puma ones fairly lame as they’re lacking in humour – just by leaving the ‘spillage’ off they would have been funny as it would have taken a double-take before a lot of people would have noticed.

Woman Suing Costco Over Eyebrow Ring
Woman fired for eyebrow ring, files lawsuit as member of the “Church of Body Modification” – says piercings are an act of faith.
Snappy Comebacks
Funny list of comebacks used by strippers to punters in strip clubs. (I’ve not checked the rest of the site but this page is SFW image-wise)
see-thru tees
After the hoax that might-have-been (the Japanese see-thru skirts), here are some actual see-thru (print) t-shirts. Probably amusing the first time you see one in the street then just sad.
Scammer gets scammed by scamming his friends
A business man in the States has fallen for the classic Nigerian 419 email scam but to make matters worse, he scammed his friends & colleagues to raise the money thinking it was a good opportunity and he’d be able to pay them back. Idiot.
orbiTouch – the Keyless Keyboard
orbitouch is a new type of keyboard that doesn’t have any keys – just two ‘domes’. Place one hand on each dome and move them about. Not sure I like the idea of this – from looking at the video demo on the site, users look like 14yr old boys when they get their first feel of their girlfriend’s b00bies.
(thanks Popcorn for these geeky links)
More than a chair
It’s more than a chair, it’s a Personal Computing Environment and you’ll need a second mortgage and a spare room to fit one in (although if you bought one of these, you’d probably be the kind of person who doesn’t have many friends round to your house so you may as well just stick it in your living room)
Trivial Pursuit
Play Trivial Pursuit online – it’ll kill a lunch break.
(Questions are very US biased)
Zonkboard
Going to try out a new tag board some time soon – this time it’ll be ZonkBoard”. So my apologies if the site is in a bit of a mess whilst I’m trying to figure out the best way of doing it – just keep refreshing the page & it’ll sort itself out if you have problems.
Stupid Computer Lusers
Here’s a series of photos of damaged pcs brought in to a repair shop in Kansas. In my time on tech support, I’ve come across virtually all of these wanton acts of stupidity myslef so I sympathize with this guy in having to keep a straight face when the users come in.
What’s in that BigMac?
What’s worse? The ingredients or the fact that McDonald’s actually show you what they are on their site. Ok, so the Big Mac itself sounds innocent enough but what is all that stuff in the bun? Fungal enzymes ain’t my idea of added flavour & why do we need an anti-foaming agent in French Fries? Could explain why I last stepped foot in a Macca D’s over 14 years ago.
Gay Bar
Woo Yay! Joel Veitch returns with the Viking Kittens, this time they’re doing Gay Bar by Electric Six – You’ll be singing “I want to take you to a Gay Bar” at the top of your voice for the rest of the day. Fantastic.
Cookin’ With Google
Whilst looking for somewhere to buy the new Google Hacks book, I came across a few cool toys that use the Google API – I’ll post more when I’ve had a chance to test them but my favourite so far is GooCookin’ – Cooking with Google – simply type in some ingredients and it’ll search for recipes that use them. It seems to work remarkably well, it even found me a recipe with bacon, vodka and asparagus (the current contents of my cupboards!)
Apple and Satan
When you use an Apple computer, you’re computing with Satan (whether Apple like it or not it appears) (this link is especially for Mr Hefty – told you Apple were dodgy m8!)
