Steaming pile of Shatner

Wiliam Shatner is set to release a second album after a massive 35 year gap since The Transformed Man (a spoken word album).

Anyone who has seen or heard his rendition of the Elton John song Rocketman knows just how terrifying a prospect this is.

This time though, he’s collaborating with Ben Folds Five, and Henry Rollins of all people.

Album Pixel Art Quiz

We’ve featured FlipFlopFlyin’ numerous times in the past, mostly for their Minipops Quizes. They’ve gone all professional on us now with the Xfm PixelArt Album cover Quiz. It’s tougher than it seems.

10 Adverts America won’t see

There are many differences between cultures across the world but it’s a shame that American tv advertising executives have decided that these 10 Ads won’t be seen in America. I can understand the Anti-Drug Mutilation ad as it’s quite heavy but the John Smiths ads were genius, the Mr Kipling Virgin birth ad made me laugh out loud when I first saw it, but the absolute classic on here, (that we’ve blogged several times) is the Honda ad – apparently the execs think it’s ‘cute’ but has a lack of ‘product benefits’ – erm, yeah – ok?!?

Bizarre Japanese Animations

Here are the latest in a long line of bizarre Japanese animation/multimedia toys that we’ve found on our travels across the interweb. First up is tinygrow. Just load it up and start clicking – you won’t know what you’re doing but it feels good.

Secondly we have the strange but beautiful 6+=1fin (whatever that means). Both of these sites are the creation of Shinichiro Sato, a genius 23 yr old.

Lenore – The Cute Little Dead Girl

Lenore…. ahhh Lenore. So sweet, cuddly and deadly. This series started on 20th December so go and watch them all if your interested. Each download is 2 or 3 Megs but worth every millimetre of bandwidth. If you like them – why not leave a comment… otherwise I might just not bother.

Weebl and Bob Outtakes

Clearly with a career as long and chequered as Weebl and Bob’s you will inevitably end up with a large catalogue of footage littering the cutting room floor… here is a small selection

Wake up… Time to Die!

I think most of us have wondered about our mortality… you know, when are we going to go? How are we going to go? Have a little looksie at this and scare the living bejesus out of yourself as you literally watch the remaining seconds of your life tick-tick-tick away. This is where innocent morbid curiosity crosses the line into a disturbing death obsession. (perfectly safe for work – don’t worry – it’s not that kind of site)

Lenore – The Cute Little Dead Girl

I wondered if Lenore would ever deliver a strong moral ending in typical American tv-show style… well it has… but I think it can be forgiven. (As before – if you’re viewing Gromblog for the first time got back a few days to find the first episode and try to view them in order)

The Best Xmas Present Ever!

Regular readers will have noticed I’ve been very quiet recently – that’s because I’ve been busy with the Best Xmas present Ever!

She’s called Erin and she’s now 11 days old.

Many thanks to Solomon & popcorn for their help with the site recently – the site will be a little sporadic until the New Year but we’ll be back, bigger and even better in 2004!

Merry Christmas & have a Happy New Year.

Ever wondered about the correct grammatical usage of the English languages favourite obscenity? Well wonder no more. Requires sound. NSFW. Oh, and click play even though it says not to (after a short while). Cheers for the link, Sven.

Lenore – The Cute Little Dead Girl

Well – It’s my last day at work/home before Xmas Hols so there is a likelihood I’m not going to be able to post more lovely, lovely Lenore over the Xmas period – but I will try… I promise! However – here’s the next installment – I suggest you don’t watch it over lunch… unless your constitution is strong. Slightly NSFW.

One thing about the French you didn’t know

Another excellent piece of work from the creator of Weebl and Bob demonstrating a slightly shocking aspect of French culture (N particularly SFW). BTW – make sure you see it through to the end… it’ll all make sense… sort of.

From the Dept of WTF?

Really, what the f**k were you smoking when you devised Chessboxing?

11 rounds alternating 2min boxing, 3min chess.

Does it surprise anyone that the creator is:

1. Dutch?

2. An Artist?

Thought not.

Highlights of recent world championship.

Lenore – The Cute Little Dead Girl

If you have never come across Lenor, you are in for a treat! Lenor is the brain child of Roman Dirge and she was met the world in comic book format a few years ago (I’m not a comic book geek but these are brilliant!!). Imagine my rapture when I stumbled upon this wonderful flash animation. This is only the first of many – I have discovered (aka nicking someone else links) a veritable trove of Lenore Joy on the interwebnet and I will bring you them in teasingly small portions over the Xmas period and beyond!! (as long as I can get to a computer regularly enough!). Pri.me health warning: Lenore is pretty dark and just a smidgen twisted (so maybe NSFW if you have a tense boss). Enjoy.
Episode 1 Lenore goes shopping for ‘toys’.

Scrotums all round!

Stuck for a pesent to buy that akward-to-buy-for relative this Christmas?

Why not give them a scrotum?

Kangaroo ballbag purses have been about for a while, but now someone has decided that they wanted something a little more showy. You know, something you could put on your mantlepiece.

Helpfuly, they’ve filled it with nuts. Just to put the point across

They speak the truth

Having only just bought my first car (that doesn’t make me as young as you think… just skinter than you think) I have recently come to terms with just how much they completely screw your finances. It came, therefore, as a breath of fresh air to come across this bit of brutal honesty.

‘Bloody Foreigners’

We Brits always seem to take great delight in the translation of foreign languages into vague approximations of English (e.g. ‘All your base are belong to us’). Well I’ve got news for you – it’s just not funny! No really! Stop laughing!!

It was 100 years ago today

when Wilbur Wright, after a coin toss and a failed first attempt, took two feet into the air for the first ever powered flight of a heavier than air craft. You can now recreate this moment using this free downloadable open-source flight sim (microsoft need not get your hard-earned cash).

Incredible Facts About Wickham

I would never have believed that the south of England had so much to offer – such a rich history and a varied influence on the world. In particular the confusingly large community of Wickham – where you can find the dodo, a Commodore 64 and a prehistoric monster, but not PVC, rugs or goat dresses (multimap). On the whole this site is fair bursting at the seems with nonsensical information and the random nature of the navigation means it may take months to browse all the pages on offer (if indeed you ever finish!)

No, not another amusing marital aid, but a reference to the first AppleTM store to open in Japan, and the HUGE amount of people who turned out to the opening of it last month.

Jumping Jokes – Home of bizarre animation

I spotted this and was rather tickled by the time and effort that has gone into something so pointless. Just a bunch of lovely animations apparently based on Terry Gilliam’s Monty Pyhton style animation (although I didn’t spot the influence until I was informed about it whilst reading the homepage). Little elements of this site may be NSFW the most is pretty safe. Being new gboy around here, I’m not sure if this has ever been gromblogged before so apologies if it has.

UPDATE

Had the word from Grom last night, Gromlette home and happy, mother well, Grom “Grinning like an idiot”.
No doubt some update from the man himself, in about 25 years time when his life returns to normal.
