99ROOMS

Seek out industrial urban decay, add a twist of demented graffiti, stir in a

handfull of freakish interactions and garnish with satanic noises – you end up with the odd site 99ROOMS – it’s an art thing.

thanks Carl

The Malibu 9

Cool game featuring the ‘Deepfried Penguin Posse’. You control 3 penguins at once – each one can jump and all you have to do is jump at the right time. It gets a lot trickier than it sounds even though you only have 3 buttons to press.

Free Star Wars Games

Here’s a collection of free (yes, free) Star Wars classic trilogy games. I’ve not played any myself yet but I’ve had some very good reports from people at work.

Lauren Harries makeover

If you saw the same documentary as I did last night about the self-governing, self-educating (and in self-denial) Harries family, then why not dress your own Lauren Harries!

Looks easy but see if you can do complete this car parking challenge in less than 15 seconds. (I can’t believe I made that entire post without a single sexist joke about women drivers!)

Where to Die a Strange Death

Fun world statistics comparison site: This is

the world’s biggest database for comparing statistics between countries. Sounds boring, sure- but check out the ‘Mortality’ stats. They’ve got World Health Organization stats on how people die all over the world – e.g. Austria has the highest per-capita rate of deaths resulting from “Falls involving ice-skates, skis, roller-skates or skateboards”. Heaps of Japanese die of ‘drowning and submersion in bath tub”. Check out “struck by reptile”.

The 419 Trophy Room

We’ve been following some of the more amusing 419 scams for a year or so but the funniest thing I’ve seen so far has to be the 419 Eater Trophy Room. This is a large collection of photos that the ‘scammees’ have got the scammers to send them to prove who they are. Some favourites have to be John the Mugu, Luthman, Albert, Mike, Steve, ‘Dr.’ Jacob & my all-time favourite, ‘Pastor’ Chris.

The Tale of the Painted Breast – a 419 story

I love these stories of people scamming scammers. The Tale of the Painted Breast is a really funny (but very long) tale about ‘Prince’ Joe Eboh – he obviously hasn’t ever seen the show ‘Frasier’ and in his desperation to con this guy was even prepared to send a photo of himself half-naked and painted – a classic amongst 419 stories. thanks Al

Andy’s Arcade Mame Cabinet

This beast of a Mame Cabinet is outstanding! It’s in one of my workmate’s houses and his housemate spent an awful long time building this from scratch. Inside is an old Linux box running Mame with over 400 games on it including all (& I mean all!) the classics but because it’s basically just a pc, they have a few thousand albums on it and a 6 piece speaker set-up so it’s a jukebox as well. Full marks for this one.

Animated GIF Finder

I always wondered where people got those bl00dy awful animated gifs from! They are the epitome of of rubbish web design… symbolic of all that is trite on the interweb. Well here is the largest animated gif library in the world (possibly) so a hex on them and everything they stand for! well, actually I did find this little gif that I think is quite cool so it can’t all be that bad

Giving Developers a bad name

There is too much wrong about this site to go into everything individually. Suffice to say that the Unix engineers at my work are trying desperately to distance themselves from the guy who runs The Official Countdown Site to Hermione’s 18th Birthday. Luckily it turns out to be a hoax site – the photo was taken from an old Onion article and a post on his blog said it was a joke – phew!

Beastie Boys CD installs virus

Don’t get me wrong, I like the Beastie Boys but I’m very glad that I downloaded thier new album before buying it. It’s a good album to listen to but I won’t be buying it after reports that the CD installs a virus. Now, if you read the description then you may think that it’s not a true virus as you think of one but I’m sorry, I won’t stand for a record company doing anything this sneaky. I can only assume that t’boys themselves know nothing of this as it’s precisely this kind of thing that they claim to be against.

Truck Chucking

What sport could only have been invented by petrol-chuggin’, rednecks with old 4×4 vehicles? Yup, Truck Chucking. The principle is so simple it’s hardly worth explaining – you drivce a truck as fast as you can then brake suddenly and launch the old truck on your back as far as you can. I bet someone, somewhere is planning a real-life version of it as you read this.

Inverse Shoot em’up

I like this idea – instead of the usual old-style top-down scrolling shoot ‘em up where you fly along shooting things – this Inverse Shoot em’up has you playing the base trying to defend yourself. A nice touch is that you can get a mate to play the attacker whilst you defend too.

Surf whislt surfing

We love pointless technology. You don’t get much more pointless than a surfboard with built-in web browser. The world’s first wi-fi board uses a high-speed net connection point – hotspot – positioned on the beach. The tablet laptop has a wireless chip, a 1.7Ghz processor, a 80Gb hard drive and presumably is waterproof.

Solomon’s planning a sister site to pri.me.uk at the moment but some of the links can’t wait long enough to post, so without giving too much away about the new site, here’s one of the sites we will be including – the Girls With Hearses Project – it’s a site of girls with hearses. It does exactly what it says on the front. (some images may be NSFW).
