Jpeg Vulnerability is in the wild
We don’t, as a general rule, tell our readers how to look after their computers or what software to use but for once I’m making an exception for the new JPeg Vulnerability. Bascially this new bug can easily enable someone to remotely takeover your computer just by you looking at a picture in an email or on a website etc. I’ve seen the details and the proof of concept (videoclip – v.scary).
The long and short of it is that you need to patch whichever system you use to ensure you don’t get hit by this. Go to windowsupdate and then officeupdate to get all the patches that you need and FFS make sure that your virus scanner is up to date. (this bug isn’t limited to Windows so you linux smuggies can wipe the smile off your faces – you’ll need to patch too!).
This has been a Pubic Slurfice Anoncement.
