Brown Out

If only Van Halen had owned one of these M&M; Sorters, then some poor backstage runner would have had an easier job in the 80′s.

qwghlm’s Giant KitKat

Old friends of pri.me.uk, Qwghlm made last week’s B3ta newlsetter with his attempt to make a Giant KitKat from 4 chunky kit-kats. Which just goes to show that no matter how clever you are, there’s always space in yoru brain for puerile insanity. Keep up the pointless work mate.

Star Wars Episdode 3: A Lost Hope

In anticipation of the next Star Wars movie, some fans have made the parody A Lost Hope. See for the first how Anakin turned ‘dag-nasty evil’ and how the Death Star was going to be called the ‘Sphere of Fear’ or the ‘Deathticle’ originally.

Hot Chicks on Coffins 2005 version

We’ve posted previous versions of the sexy coffin calendar as far back as 2002 (old so no guarantee the links still work) and here’s the 2005 hot chicks on coffins calendar for your delectation.

*Edit* Apparently the link is a bit tempermental but hopefully this one should work and also show you the previous 3 years of calendars.

Rocky Returns

Genius prankage. I don’t know anything about this short video but it made me laugh and laugh. These guys have filmed a tribute to Rocky and it’s a work of genius – best bit has to be the waiter chasing after him.

Minardi display

Formula 1 newbie, Minardi driver Christijan Albers took a burn through the streets of Amsterdam . Fab stuff! Why on Earth did we not get to hear about it in the UK? Because the closest this story comes to England is that the guy who changes the left rear wheel nut is from Kidderminster*, that’s why.

…but we watched it until the end…

A devout Baptist couple bought a perfectly innocent DVD only to be somewhat shocked by it’s actual content. Needless to say they “watched it until the end because we couldn’t believe what we were seeing”… ahem- bullsh1t!-hem!!

It is likely that this wooden mirror doesn’t work in quite the way you expect. It is not a very shiney bit of wood but it is very clever!

Fly Me To The Moon

There’s an oft-quoted statistic that the original space rockets had less computing power than a modern pocket calculator. I was chatting about this recently to a friend and we figured that it would be incredibly easy to replicate using a modern pc (but rather pointless). John Pultorak has already beaten us to it with his Block I Apollo Guidance Computer Replica.

Tsunami fund ‘hacker’ falsely accused?

There’s been a story knocking around recently about someone who tried to ‘hack’ a website taking donations for the Tsunami relief fund. I’ve just been sent this snippet forma mailing list;

A Londonder made a tsnuami-relief donation using lynx — a text-based browser used by the blind, Unix-users and others — on Sun’s Solaris operating system. The site-operator decided that this “unusual” event in the system log indicated a hack-attempt, and the police broke down the donor’s door and arrested him.

BT [British Telecom] who run the donation management system misread an access log and saw hmm thats a non standard browser not identifying it’s type and it’s doing strange things. Trace that IP. Arrest that hacker.

Armed police, a van, a police cell and national news later the police have gone in SWAT styley and arrested someone having their lunch.

Out on bail till next week and preparing to make a lot of very bad PR for BT and the Police….

Grafitti Art in Counter-Strike

I’m a fairly regular Counter-strike:Source player at the moment and regular readers will know of our love of graf-artist Banksy. Now I can combine both of these together with the counter street art spray paint packs. It’s gotta be better than the cheesy pr0n that the 16 yr-olds spray everywhere in the game.

Custom Prosthetic Designs

PLEASE DO NOT CLICK THIS LINK IF YOU ARE OF A NERVOUS DISPOSITION! This site contains graphic images of incredibly unfortunate people with birth defects or disfiguring injuries or diseases. However, I am not posting it because I wish to sensationalise them; I am posting it because it also contains images of the work of Robert R. Barron (a certified clinical anaplastologist… apparently), the creator of the finest prosthetics I have ever seen. If you saw some of the ‘after’ images without seeing the ‘before’ images you simply would not believe the quality of the prosthesics he creates. LSFW.

Ban All Children

Oh, for God’s Sake! (or allah, yahweh, Buddha, Ganesh, Haile Selassie or whoever you want). By following the logic of this article which says ‘Blogging is a paed0phile’s dream’, we should kill all children to protect them from the ‘possible dangers’ that might happen to them. Next thing we should ban is local newspapers – you know, the free ones that get shoved through your letterbox and are full of photos of local community events or schoolkids being awarded prizes. Why not ban television for transmitting images of children directly into every household.

/me gets off soapbox.

THE THOUGHT PROJECT

Interesting idea here. Simon Hoegsberg has recently done a project he calls THE The Thought Project. He stopped peolpe in the street and asked them what they were thinking of just as he stopped them. He recorded this and took their photo – it’s a snapshot into people’s minds and is quite fascinating.

A drawing thing

Well, I don’t know anything about this because it’s all in Russian (or some other Cyrillic alphabetted language that I am equally ignorant about). It’s a kind of Flash based user-drawn gallery thing. Here is the index page but check out this one is particularly fine! (speed it up by clicking x16 if it’s too slow for you)

Brilliant Button Maker

We don’t go a whole hog for buttons and logos on this site – I feel it ruins the carefully thought-out design for which we’ve (never) won awards for. If I did have a single iota of artistic talent then I wouldn’t need this Brilliant Button Maker to make such buttons as or even .

The Beastles

I saw the dj BC presents The Beastles site a few months ago when it first came out but at the time we had loads of links and not enough time to post them all and I hadn’t heard these mashed up tunes. Fast forward to the present & I’ve finally got round to listening to them. They’re loads better than I’d expected. If you hadn’t guessed, it’s a bootleg mash-up album of the Beastie Boys meets the Beatles all free to d/load. Quality stuff – well worht the bandwidth.
