How to Make Your Site FireFox Live Bookmark Aware

Apologies to our Firefox-based readers (which includes me!) – I realised the other day that our site isn’t aware of our live bookmark feed. I’ve finally found out how to Make Your Site a FireFox Live Bookmark Site and I’ll implement the necessary changes as soon as I get a chance tonight. For non-Firefox users, this is a nifty little feature that enables one-click RSS feeds without having to use a separate aggregator. (and if none of the above made any sense to you then just ignore this post and wait for some more smutty links to appear)

Want to know what’s worth watching on TV?

You can always count on ‘Outraged of Wisconsin’ to complain the loudest about the decline of standards. Use this to your advantage by checking out Parent’s TV’s Worst TV Clips of the Week and then setting your video to grab these shows. If they’re bad enough to upset these guys then they must have something going for them!

If you fancy being in the audience for any UK tv shows then try any one of these sites. If you are going to be on any shows then please let us know & I’ll try to provide some free t-shirts for you to wear on screen (hey, any publicity is good publicity).

Blink-O-Rama – The Blinking Blog

Blink-O-Rama is the latest ‘specialised’ blog. This one deals with images of celebrities blinking. That’s it – no more, no less. (Special mention to the fantastic subtitle for Condeleeza’s entry – Dr. Rice Grilled!)

GeoURL (2.0)

After many months of being up and down more times than a tart’s knickers, GeoURL (2.0) is now in beta. I’ve had a geourl tag on the page for about 3 years now and have been contacted/out for drinks with a few people I’ve met via it. The idea is very simple – you just input your location (preferably by longtitude and latitude for accuracy) and it finds your meatspace neighbours – they call it a location-to-url directory.

Very cool kitchen knife block – it’s a warped design classic.

Every Calvin and Hobbes Strip?

This one’s especially to ruin Solomon’s working week. He’s not going to get any work done now that I’ve found a link to what I think could be every Calvin and Hobbes strip ever. Sorry mate.
*Edit* The site is down at the moment but you can still get to most of it through Google’s cache.

Zeroboutique

We’ve posted before about Zeroboutique but I felt that they deserve another posting as I’d like other retailers to follow their example. The website is simple but extremely effective, for every design they sell, you can pick the colour and the style as you wish. You can also see actual photos of each design and pick from a huge variety of sizes. This gives you a definite custom appeal – chances are that no-one else has the same combination that you order. The shirts are all good prices too. The only catch is actually a bonus too – you have to wait for your order (sometimes over a month). The owner, Jason, collects orders through the month and then spends a few days at the end of every month doing nothing but eating, drinking and breathing screen-printing fumes as he prints every ordered shirt by hand. You can be assured of high Quality Assurance using this method – I’m just absolutely gutted that they don’t still sell my favourite design.

Make – The gizmo hack mag

Finally, a mere 3 months after I first subscribed to Make magazine, the first issue has arrived in my letterbox. I’ve gotta say that I’m impressed. First off, it’s an O’Reilly publication which is always a good sign of quality. Secondly it’s written by boingboing associates. Thirdly, the non-paper elements of the magazine are superb – there’s a Flickr group, a del.icio.us bookmark collection, an email newsletter and readers can submit any ideas for articles that they wish. The articles are aimed at geeks who love voiding their gadget warranties with hardware hacks, or making their own gizmos. Very cool stuff.

A Scanner Darkly

Take one of my favourite books, by one of my favourite authors, add one of my favourite directors and mix in one of my favourite actors (yeah, yeah, I know) and you should have a fantastic movie. Except they’re guaranteed to mess it up completely. Or will they – chekc out the teaser trailer with it’s unusual cel shading and see what you think.

ALL LOOK SAME

Chinese, Japanese or Korean? I thought I was a pretty cosmopolitan kinda guy until I did this test; I must admit to feeling very embarrassed that I only scored 3 (“hopeless”). [Just in case "you're wondering whether or not to take offense... alllooksame is not a statement. It's a question "] Why not give it a bash.

Ze Cube

Forget the Mac Mini, forget the G4. The only Apple cube you need is the Ze Cube. The illegitimate son of Orac and a Mac Classic II, it beats any new Apple in the design stakes. Minesweeper has never looked so good.

Abe Vigoda is Snake Plissken

I bet there are less than a handful of people who get that headline – it’s probably the most obscure one I’ve done. Happy Birthday Abe. (Bonus points for anyone who can explain the headline to everyone else)

Fontleech

There’s a new trend of speciality blogs which definitely gets my seal of approval. We’ve featured preshrunk – the t-shirt blog before and now here’s Fontleech – the free Font blog. You’ve seen how easy it is to do a blog – why not think of an interest of yours and start a new blog yourselves (Any photoshop gurus who wanted to collect tutorials or actions would get a favourable review from yours truly)

Ras Darwin! The Origin of the Species in Dub

Full marks for being the most off the wall album I’ve seen this year so far – the Genomic Dub Collective presents the Darwin’s Origin of the Species in Dub. It does exactly what it says on the tin. Bonus points for being inspired by Benjamin Zephaniah.

Ronald McDonald’s female alter ego

I’m creeped out by clowns anyway but anyone who knows me will attest to my utter hatred of MacDonald’s . Imagine how ill I felt upon finding this Livejournal user – Miss McDonald. She dresses up as Ronald MacDonald and runs a photoblog designed to make me puke. Evil, evil, evil.

Star Wars Ep3 Spoilers and Photos

These photos have been getting taken down as soon as they’ve been popping up this week so I hope this link will still be active by the time you see it. Screen grabs from the last of the Star Wars movies in narrative order thus giving the story away (so nerds be warned).

60GB iPod photo – still not as good as Archos?

Surely I’m not the only person who has a massive mp3 collection and would like to cart the lot around all the time? My old Archos AV140 is still working fine (apart from some annoying little glitches) but I’ve stopped using it for video now and I still don’t have enough space. They did make a limited edition 80Gb model and the new version is very funky but as with the iPods, battery life sucks and capacity is way too limited. Apple are slowly catching up with their new 30GB and 60GB iPod photo but they still haven’t learnt that if you give people the ability to do more with their gadgets (photo, video, bluetooth etc) then they’ll need more space.

There was once this DJ whose hands became so talented that they no longer needed the torso they were attached to (via a bridging limb, of course). No, really.

Return of the Bobbitt

I read this story about yet another woman cutting her man’s d1ck off and flushing it down the toliet earlier but didn’t post it as that kind of thing seems to be happening a lot lately. anistropia has sent me a very surreal take on reporting the story though – the Slideshow version. The photos give a kind of ‘behind closed doors in suburbia’ feel to the story.

Torn – in sign language

Remember Natalie Imbruglia’s pop ditty ‘Torn’ from a few years back? I’ve just found a genius video of a comedian doing the song in sign language. anyone know who this guy is?
*Edit* Apparently he’s Viennese Interpretative Dance artist Johan Lipovitz (aka comedian Dave Armand) who’s also had a bash at Britney’s songs.
