RayRay Puzzle Game

RayRay is a mildly addictive game in which you click on the fat bellied characters who jog about and show you their paunches whilst you try to make them all stand up. Good fun.

Extreme Biometric Hacking

I’ve long railed against using biometric security and my worst fears have just come true. Some car thieves in Malaysia cut off a man’s finger to bypass the security feature on his Mercedes car that required a fingerprint scan to bypass the immobilizer. Nasty!

Customized Suzuki VW Vans

The original classic VW surfer vans are hard to find these days, especially in Japan where they were all imported years ago. This has lead to a cult of customizing Suzuki vans to look like VW campers. With some quite cool results.

Birds of Prey

Blatant Plug here. Went up to Thirsk in North Yorkshire yesterday for a half day falconry course at the Birds of Prey Centre and got to handle and fly a selection of falcons, hawks, eagles, owls and vultures. I’ve actually done this before in Ireland but still absolutely loved this place and the birds. The staff particularly were superb and I’d recommend that anyone (except ornithophobia sufferers) try the Hawk Walk sometime. If you’re ever stuck for a present then book mark this site.

memory squared bespoke portraits

Gorgeous artwork for your lavvy, lounge, waiting room or bar; high quality custom prints and off-the-peg limited edition canvases. Memory squared bespoke portraits are very lovely… and a nice site too… now where did I leave that few hundred quid?

MP3Gif: hide music in your pictures.

Thomas Scott makes some cool little ‘web things’ and one of his latest is MP3Gif which lets you hide music in your pictures. Only small filesizes are possible at the moment but it’s a cool idea anyway.

Stairway to Heaven Backwards

You’ll have heard about Backmasking before – when people claim to hear messages when they play vinyl albums backwards. Jeff Milner has made a brilliant little piece of flash that lets you plays certain tracks forwards and backwards or both at the same time to listen for the hidden messages. Pink Floyd’s message on Empty spaces was a well-known classic but don’t be too sceptical until you’ve heard the Queen and Eminem ones.

Solar Death Ray

As part of the entrance exam for the Evil Overlord night-school this guy took on creating a Solar Death Ray as his graduating project. Next week he’ll graduate and the week after he’ll probably run the planet.

I, for one, would like to welcome our new plastic-melting overlord.

Banksy for President

Uber-artiste Banksy has just pulled off one of the best pranks this century so far. Whilst it’s not exactly a new idea to hang your own art-work in an art gallery, the panache and style he showed whilst entering the Museums of Modern Art and Natural History in New York to hang his own art whilst dressed as an old man show more balls than most. The Tesco tomato soup can says more about art and art appropriation than anything Andy Warhol ever did (IMHO). Culture Jamming at it’s finest.

Black Satan

Before the Mighty Morphin’ Power Rangers went and ruined it for everyone, Japanese superheroes were quite cool (in a cultish sort of way. Black Satan was a collective of baddies from the Kamen Rider series. They’re funky guys – you should check it out if you ever get the chance to see it.

cheers Carl

Odd japanese game

I’ve had this game open all day and still can’t finish it! Unless you understand Japanese you will not be able to read it so the first 10 minutes will involve figuring our what to do. It’s a sort of ‘escape from the room’ type game. Enjoy. Please feel free to leave spoilers in the comments.

Monkey s3x

I guess the good thing about safari zoos is the animals can come and go and do exactly as they please. One possible outcome of this freedom is having monkeys doing rudies on the roof of your car. Imagine trying to explain this one to little Johnny. Link to video clip – NSFW!!

How to really confuse your party guests.

We love our pranks so these guys have become my new heroes with their scheme to really confuse your party guests. Simply turn the entire room on it’s side. Beautifully executed and a lot of effort involved like all the best pranks.

Learn UNIX in 10 minutes

Feel the need to be even geekier than you would have dreamt by learning UNIX in 10 minutes. Honestly, I don’t know what the fuss is about – as long as you know your bin, grep and bash then it’s as simple as using linux (but without the pretty icons).

Ubuntu – Spreading the Linux Love

If you’re the kind of person who likes spreading the love then you’ll appreciate Ubuntu. It’s an ethical linux distribution which is totally free and totally open-source with loads of support for languages and help for those with disabilities. This Operating System is so free that if you send them your address, they’ll send you a copy on cd and even pay for the postage. What nice people.

thanks Spokesy

Forget Wikipedia, you need the Uncyclopedia

Although Wikipedia gets all the press, I still prefer the very unpolitically incorrect Uncyclopedia. Where else could you read about Robert Downey Jr being in Pong the Movie? It must be true, it’s on the internet.
