The Adventures of Middleman
I’m starting to notice some nice creative ideas springing up on Flickr at the moment – check out the Adventures of Middleman – the story of one man’s cult middle finger.
Mukka Express – Do I need another coffee maker?
I’ve got about 5 different machines in my house that can make good coffee so why do I want to get a Mukka Express machine? Maybe it’s because I’m in love with stove-top makers but this one does the milk at the same time – it’s a nifty piece of engineering as you can see from these oh so cheesy infomercials.
Capoeirista Extraordinaire
Surely my favouritist ‘marshall art’ is Capoeira – the granddaddy of breakdancing is found in Brazil and was developed by African slaves during the Portuguese slave trade. These days capoeira is (supposed to be) completely non-contact and more about showmanship than violence; however, a well placed, full contact ‘Bencao’ can smash ribs and a ‘meia lua de compasso’ can tear a head clean off whilst leaving your opponent wondering what the hell has just happened. Anyway – check out Lateef Crowder who is very clearly completely and utterly bad ass!!
Star Wars Holiday Special
Forget Episode 3 being leaked onto the interweb, George Lucas has more serious things to worry about. Mostly that all this hype over the new movie has lead to a resurgence in interest in the older Star Wars movies. Worst of all is the recent fascination with the Star Wars Holiday Special from 1978. See Carrie Fisher coked out of her skull, hear a 15 minutes Wookie speech (with no subtitles), see Chewbacca wearing an apron, see Han Solo hugging child wookies, be tied down and forced to listen to (The Golden Girls’) Bea Arthur singing a song in the cantina and find out why Jefferson Airplane changed their name to Jefferson Starship (later just Starship) for this special.
It really does suck but any completists out there should be able to either find a Torrent file for it or buy it from eBay if you must.
Secret Wall Tattoos
I’ve always believed that subversive, unexpected and random things are much more interesting than normal. The idea behind secret wall tattoos really appeals to me – most people will never see the artworks and those that do probably won’t ‘get it’ but hopefully some of them will think about it and it might even make someone happy. The idea is simple, create hidden artworks behind hotel room mirrors or those bland paintings that hotels feel the urge to use to cover the walls.
He-Man sings (badly)
OMG! This is so bad and yet so good at the same time – a fan cartoon of He-Man singing 4 Non Blondes ‘What’s Going On’ sounding like he’s being backed by a mixture of Erasure and The Eurovision all-stars.
One for our American Readers
One for our American readers – the sarcasm portion of the brain has been identified.
Hacking for the Good Cause
It’s nice to hear that not everyone has turned to the dark side – vigilantes have been defacing and hacking into fraudulant phishing sites to protect their would-be customers. How long until we see one of these hackers being sued by a phisher for hacking a site?
The American Chariot – a Segue for the Police
The American Chariot is supposed to be the latest hi-tech transport for the American police but really, could you take an officer seriously if he was standing on one of these. Besides which, where’s the doughnut holder?
Torn Mime
Courtesy of fliqs.com, I have just been enjoying a smashing mime artist with a wonderful take on “Torn” by Natalie Umbrooglygoogly. Ever-so-slightly LSFW due to slightly smutty precision miming.
Luciferous Logolepsy
We like to on occasion write in an acataleptic and quisguous manner. Hopefully reading this website will be uberous and will allow you to gain a quantulum of knowledge facilitating the comprehension of our conversation. We hope it oblectates.
The B3ta Phallic Logo Awards
What could be better for a Friday afternoon that a pointless award ceremony. B3ta have done us proud again with the Phallic Logo Awards. These aren’t supposed to be NSFW but due to either a sneaky designer or a very innocent marketing dept (does sucha thing exist?) they might be considered unsuitable in your workplace.
The decisive moment II
Another bike related moment… this time I don’t think you could have seen this one coming; my congratulations go to the photographer. I do hope it’s not photoshopped.
The Decisive moment
This seems to be turning into a regular feature… anyway – man with camera waits by deceptively deep puddle for someone to come along
One of these things …
Virtually all the One of thiese things posts we run are pretty dodgy in a NSFW way – that’s partly the point but we don’t normally expect the first one in the list to be so ‘wonder’ful. Here’s the NSFW GIS for wonderwoman.

The title says it all. Solve the puzzle.
Chicago crime map
How’s this for an interesting use of Google Maps – it’s the Chicago crime map. You can see hotspots of trouble or filter down to specific types of crime or times of day (eg: all crimes associated with bank ATM machines in April 2005). I wonder if the police are tech savvy enough to use this themselves – it’s certainly a very good analytical tool.
The Great Flickr Tools Collection
Since so many of our readers are Flickr users now, here’s a great round-up of loads of Flickr Tools to make life easier or just more interesting.
Das Keyboard – UberGeeks Only
On the whole we dislike any product or ethos that leads a particular social group of people to think they are somehow better or more important than others. However, this keyboard is cool!
weblog linkage and popular vias
An interesting piece of work by linkmachinego – here are the top 10 weblogs found if you Google ‘Via’. Looking at the list, many of these are regular reads of mine and certainly do account for many of the posts that we put up but I have to profess not being aware of one of them.
Cerberus Shoal
I went to a mates gig last night – not just a ‘mates band’, they’re a semi-pro set up from Maine, USA. However, not quite knowing what to expect I was distinctly blown away by their fantastic brand of experimental music; I can’t think of any bands to compare them to so I won’t. Call this a plug, I don’t care… but I heartily recommend you listen to Cerberus Shoal and if possible try and check out one of their European Tour Dates. When they get famous you can say where you heard about them first!
Sith online already
I’ll not comment on this post other than to quote boingboing.net;
“Star Wars III online, all studio countermeasures futile, Lucas still rich”
BBC NEWS Remixed by Wiki
A lovely piece of info-remixing is the Wikiproxy project that the BBC have started supporting. Basically, it lets you read the usual BBC news site but with added relevant hyperlinks to wikipedia – the user-contributed online encyclopedia. Simple but genius.
How to fake fingerprints
One of the main reasons I’m very anti-biometrics (and id cards) is the ease of fooling them. If you didn’t know, here’s how easy it is to fake fingerprints. Alternatively you could use a Gummi Bear.
Kinky shopper KOed by vibrating knickers
It sounds like an urban myth but El Reg has a story today about a lady who seemingly fainted in her local supermarket from the effects of hervibrating panties “Not for internal use” indeed!
Disturbing legal news
I’m worried now that I’ve heard Tecmo have settled their case with ninjahacker.net in their legal action against a bunch of game players who shared custom skins for several Xbox games. I have been using custom skins (basically, changing what characters in a game look like – from altering clothes to changing the shape of a character) for over a decade now and never considered that it might have been illegal. Wired News has the update but this is an unsatisfactory end to the case, because they settled out of court, no definitive conclusions can be made.
Wipeout Pure – new stuff to download for PSP
Anyone who has bought a PSP and Wipeout Pure will be happy to know that there is supposed to be a new bundle of fun to download today to your PSP’s memory stick. The bundle will include new cars, tracks, music and skins.
ScrollBars in art
Thanks to Imran for alerting me to this art exhibition which features a very cool use of scrollbar sculpture.
50 Fun Things To Do With Your iPod
Uber-blogger Jason Kottke has put together a good list of 50 Fun Things To Do With Your iPod.
