More Japanese Metro Images

After our strange interpretation of Christianity, cast your eyes over this image also (apparently) found on the Japanese underground. It may well be fake / photoshopped but it’s fun to suspend one’s belief!

Police strip to halt nudist crime

This story about British police having to strip off on a nudist beach to stop crime made me giggle. I just pity to poor bobby who has that beach on his beat.

infinite flickr Slideshow

The infinite flickr group is a great idea – here’s a slideshow – anyone can take part, just take a photo of you looking at the last photo in the series. (It’s easier to understand by checking out the slideshow).

How stonehenge could have been built by one man

Wally Wallington is a normal guy on the surface but this ex-labourer might have discovered how Stonehenge could have been built. It doesn’t seem that impressive but when you see the ease that he moves multi-ton rocks with only rope and some wood then it does seem entirely feasible.
*Edit* Link to movie is now a direct download link to avoid NSFW banners – now it’s SFW so everyone can see it.

Melly Clistmas

What happens if you give an advertising company who has very little understanding of Christianity the job of developing the new campaign to publicise the release of the “Passion of the Christ” DVD? Answer… this.(Sorry about the poor taste title)

Google Moon

In honor of the first manned Moon landing, which took place on July 20, 1969, Google have added some NASA imagery to the Google Maps interface. Check out Google Moon to see the lunar landing sites and don’t forget to zoom in all the way to see if Wallace and Grommit were right.

One down, too many more to go

BNP founder John Tyndall has died. Shame eh? Let’s hope it something contagious that he spread to the rest of his racist followers. The only downpoint was that he didn’t actually get to stand trial.

(Sorry – we’ll return to normal non-political posts now)

Inventive suicides

I love the very dark humour in this series of photos by Bill Thomas called ‘Suicide’ – some of the Heath Robinson/Rube Goldberg (delete according to your nationality) methods are disturbingly imaginative.

Lastminute Auctions

For those frantic eBay addicts amongst our readers, here’s a link that you’ll either thank me or hate me for posting. Lastminute Auction will link to eBay in America, the UK, Germany, Australia and Italy and will show you all auctions that either end in the next minute (up to one hour) and cost less than a pound, dollar, euro etc. In their words – ‘… an hour or less, a buck or less’. It’s addictive so be warned.

It’s not an ad, it’s cinema sudoku

Newspaper readers in the UK are currently being treated to one of the best print ads I’ve ever seen. The title of this article about the Stella Artois adverts goes a long way to explaining what the fuss is about – It’s not an ad, it’s cinema sudoku luckily has links to the images and (thank god) the answers too. Here are some direct links if you don’t want to RTFA;

Space mission to photograph Apollo landing sites

Fed up with people disbelieving the moon landings, NASA are setting out to debunk the conspiracy theorists once and for all. Off they pop to circle the moon as few times and take a few piccies – meanwhile they might collect one or two other shots just to make the most of the trip.

Half Life 2 vs A Few Good Men

Remember the classic “You can’t handle the truth’ speech from A Few Good Men with Tom Cruise and Jack Nicholson? A guy from Seattle has redone the entire scene as a Half Life video and it’s amazing. Check out the effort involved for the different camera angles. Amazing work from one man.

Optimus LED keyboard

I can’t wait for this keyboard to make it into production. IT’s been getting lots of press recently and with good cause (if it can be made cheaply enough). Basically, the Optimus LED keyboard has blank keys that will show the icons for what ever program you are using – in normal mode it will look like a normal keyboard but switch to photoshop or games and the keys will change to display symbols. Very cool indeed.

I’m not sure why we started posting so much ukulele madness but I just love it. Check out this video of Jake Shimabukuro playing George Harrison’s ‘Why My Guitar Gently Weeps’. It’s astounding and you’ve gotta hang around for the utterly insane solo about two-thirds of the way through.

Plan 9 From Outer Space

Ed Wood’s fantastic movie Plan 9 From Outer Space is often called the Worst Movie Ever Made (for excellent background viewing, you must see Ed Wood with Johnny Depp). If you haven’t ever seen it, those lovely people at the Internet Archive will let you download the whole movie for free and you too can see how the death of the lead character just before start of filming doesn’t need to affect the shooting schedule.
