Hacking with RFID
I’ve expressed concerns over the growing use (and reliance) on RFID tags in shops. For some reason recently we’ve seen this form of tag being utilised more and more by large corporations as a way of tracking goods and purchases in stores and in many areas, RFIS is now being used to pay for services by eliminating checkouts. The guys over at RFIDAnalysis have proved that using low-cost equipment, you can copy and crack other people’s tags and get yourself some free petrol. More fuel for the fire – I’m glad that more of this proof of concept work is now coming out – wonder if the UK id cards will still include RFID tags?
