If God was a DJ
If God was a DJ, do you think that this is how he’d get his kicks. Fantastic advert for DJ kit.
cheers Carl
USB goodness
In our never-ending quest to find more useless things to plug into your computer we’re pleased to bring you a whole page including some new ones such as the USB Shaver, the USB pencil sharpener, hand warmer, foot warmer and many others that I can’t even see what they do.
Make Your Own Chewing Gum Kits
In a news item straight out of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, comes news of a Make Your Own Chewing Gum kit. Good idea or not?
Ooh Betty!
Looks like a UK museum has recently hired Frank Spencer to work there, after a priceless pair of Qing Dynasty vases were smashed into a lot of very small pieces when someone tripped over his shoelaces and sent them flying. Still, at least they could make some of the money back by sending the cctv footage into the many home-footage shows on tv these days.
Flower Printer
The Flower Printer is one of those things that you probably didn’t even realise that there was a sufficient market for to warrant all the R&D; needed to create it but somone has gone ahead and invented it and it’s a wonderous thing. It literally prints onto flowers. How bizarre is that? I wonder if you can print onto the whole flower and thus change the colout of the flower – it reminds me of the Queen of Hearts in Alice in Wonderland making her people paint the roses a different colour.
Best of Google Video
The Best of Google Video page pretty much lives up to it’s title – well worth a visit.
Google in China fails ‘Do No Evil’ Rule
Although Google have always prided themselves on their Do No Evil mantra, they have blatantly ignored that policy when dealing with their largest potential audience – China. Just compare the Google china result for tiananmen with the Western version of th esame search. Notice anything different?
I’d also like to know where this FAQ went to?
Why is there one bad google for China and one good google for the rest of the world?
Reefer Madness
I know I posted about the new musicalversion of it but now, thanks to google video, you can watch the entire original 1936 anti-marijuana cult, unintentionally funny, movie Reefer Madness.
Shhh!
DEAR CELL PHONE USER
We are aware that your ongoing conversation aboutinsert something here is very important to you, but we thought you’d like to know that it doesn’t interest us in the least. In fact, your babbling disregard for others is more than a little annoying.
A handy cut-out and keep pdf file to give to annoying mobile users. via this week’s zen.
Copy, Right?
Good specialist blog of cover versions by various artists – Copy, Right?. I liked the Final Fantasy cover of Bloc Party’s ‘This Modern Love’ which also highlights a new trend in posting Google Video directly into blogs. Google’s policies help this happen by not penalising the blogger’s own bandwidth or storage so less slashdotting happens.
Replacement Game Manuals
Handy site to bookmark – replacementdocs is a forum for requesting and downloading old game manuals.
Ice Skating Korean Monkeys
I, for one, salute our new ice-skating simian overlords.
Cats in Fruit Hats
Good news everybody! (sorry, I watched too much Futurama last night) Anyway, I really happy that the F.P.E.S. is finally available for testing. What is this wonderous thing you ask? It’s a Feline Protection and Enhancement System cunningly disguised as a piece of orange peel.
The Resurrection explained
Now it makes sense.
cheers Jim
Lego orrery
Here’s something I’d love to have a go at making, a Lego orrery. I’ve always wanted an antique orrery but maybe it would be better to build my own. Inspiring.
Fastr – A Flickr Game
Here’s a nice idea, a game based on Flickr Tags called Fastr the idea is to guess what tag is used in the images that pop up. It’s round based and you play against everyone else who’s on the site at the time so dive over and try to guess the tag in the shortest time you can.
Tic Tac Toe Fractal
Every possible permutation of Tic Tac Toe represented as a fractal. For UK readers, I guess most of you will prefer the name Noughts & Crosses to Tic Tac Toe.
Torus Trooper
Cool game for windows (6Mb download, not online) called Torus Trooper which is visually mindblowing much like another old favourite of ours, Mono. Fly along, trying to keep your brain from imploding with the graphics as you blast your way.
Electric Marshmallow Toaster
You’d have to be pretty desperate to buy an Electric Marshmallow Toaster but then I’m sure someone has found a use for it as a sex toy/instrument of torture, just keep it away from me.
Motivator: Inspire! Motivate! Mock!
You’ve all seen those appalling motivational posters around the office – why not subvert the workplace by making your own. You can even upload them directly to your Flickr account.
Keith Schofield / Wintergreen aka ‘That Atari ET game video’
Video director Keith Schofield has put his new video for Wintergreen’s When I wake up on his site. It’s a beautiful video based around the old story that Atari dumped millions of old cartridges in landfill after no one bought the awful game (I remember being so excited when the game first came out – it was one of the first movie tie-ins and it taught me a big lesson about avoiding all movie tie-ins ever since). Whilst you’re on Keith’s site check out his DJ Format video for 3 Feet Deep.
This Spartan Life – new episode
There’s a new section of This Spartan Life up now. If you haven’t seen this before, it’s a fantastic chat show filmed entirely in Halo and is superb. The latest episode features an interview with Marty O’Donnell, the audio director of Bungie Studios, the creators of Halo. Direct link to the episode is here.
Regardez la Caca
You too can ‘Regardez la caca” with this French poo machine. It’s actually funnier in French I think.
SongTapper
I can’t believe we haven’t posted this one yet – I’ve known about about songtapper for a while and thought we’d posted it but it seems not. Simply tap your spacebar in time to a tune and it’ll try to guess what tune it is – excellent for those occassions when you hear a tune on the radio and the Dj doesn’t say who it is yet you can’t get it out of your mind.
ChilliFire
Especially for Solomon – ChilliFire for all your chilli pepper seed needs.
Duel with the Devil
cruddy rock band The Dorkness (sorry Darkness) have a decent version of Simon Says on their Duel with the Devil minisite. Just click the riffs in the right order.
The Piracy Calculator
Want to know how much your downloaded hoard would have cost to buy? The Piracy Calculator will tell you. Please bear in mind that Piracy isn’t theft, it’s piracy and there is a difference (but obviously not legally).
thanks Jim
Banksy: Wall and Piece
If you don’t already own a copy of Banksy‘s book Wall and Piece then go and buy it. It’ll make you a more intelligent, better looking, happier person.
Batman’s Greatest Boner
We’ve previously posted the unintentionally sexual comic book covers but I’ve just been sent another addition to the collection, this time featuring Batman’s Greatest Boner.
cheers Al
Zubbles arrive!
If you remember our previous post about the fascinating story behind the difficulties in making coloured bubbles then you’ll be pleased to know that Zubbles are about to land in your shops very soon.
