iGoatse
Not sure if this is the start of the April Fool’s jokes but I love the iGoatse iPod skin – if it’s not real then it should get made.
Interesting Domain Name facts
Nice bit of research into Internet Domain Names including some great news if you’re called Antonio Hughes.
Homebrew iMac
This has got to be the most stunning case mod to feature on Pri.me . Its the 12″ powerbook converted into a iMac home cinema.
Greetings BoingBoingers
Greetings Boingboingers. It seems that a link I submitted has been posted to Boing Boing. I did wonder why on earth the site traffic had suddenly shot up rather considerably. Apologies for exposing you to one of the ugliest sites on the web (if you can’t read the text, just refresh it and you’ll probably get a worse colour scheme next time). What can I say, we’re all about the content, not the looks (that’s what I tell mrs.grom anyway). Feel free to sign up for the rss feed or one of the mailing lists whilst you’re here or just try one of our famous OOTTINLTO GIS links (before you ask, it means, ‘One of These Things is Not Like the Others) – we welcome submissions, just play nice.
A Great Big Psycho
Whoop, whoop! Nutter alert. Get your tin-foil hats on. A Great Big Circle is another in the long history of loony Kate Bush fansites but what really makes me laugh is the author’s constant re-assertions that he is not deluded/psycho/stalker-material (see here) despite his own obvious evidence to the contrary. Someone needs to explain that ‘facts’ aren’t generally things that you make up and proof doesn’t consist of taking made-up ‘facts’ that you have to rearrange to make them fit into your theories.
Man flogs wife’s box on eBay
eBay auction of the day has to be the man who is selling his wife’s box because his cock wouldn’t fit in it. Innuendo ahoy!
Aljazeera and the Flying Spaghetti Monster
In a bizarre turn of events, Al Jazeera, the Arabic news source have run a story on Creationism and the Church of England’s recent remarks about the teaching of creationist theories which was sent out on the Reuters wires. In an example of worlds colliding, they even retained the 4 paragraphs about Pastafarianism and the Flying Spaghetti Monster.
Worlds biggest game collection?
Impressive photos of a massive game collection and an entertaining attempt at an interview with the guy who collected them.
VC&G;: How many game systems (physical console units) do you have, including duplicates?
VCG: Again, I’m not sure — gotta get rid of those duplicates.
Ace!
Is your child a tagger?
Great dramatised illustration from the Pasadena Star News to help worried parents spot if their little angels are turning into evil taggers.
Eye Fly with it’s Many Eyes
From the Bored Scientist dept: sunglasses for a house fly. Does it get more pointless or cool?
amaztype
Following on from Carloz’ Kleptones link of yesterday (congrats to Al’s missus btw), I noticed the rather nice artwork for the Kleptones cover was made with amaztype a funky little app worth checking out.
This also brings me neatly to wondering out loud yet again about whatever happened to the great demo app called n-generate – it is a small program that produces fantastic results for cd covers, posters, websites etc with only a few clicks of your mouse. It was first developed about 5 years ago but still puts most newer programs to shame – I just can’t fathom why it wasn’t picked up and developed further into a commercial product. Try it out for free and see what I mean.
Man convicted of shooting robot moose
A man from Pugwash Junction (fantastic!), Nova Scotia, pleaded guilty yesterday to attempting to kill an endangered species. Ironically the Robot Moose that he actually shot is rarer than the real moose highlighting the appalling state of robot rights.
More deconstructed Photoshopping
Enjoy some blackbelt pixel manipulation broken down into steps to show how ads like the Coke christmas truck were constructed from multiple photos.
Readers Wives
Congratulations to Al’s missus for getting a mention on Boing Boing this week for her office/sabotage inspired video for the ’0900 Daft Purple’ track on the Kleptones 24hours compilation. (she’s the one with the moustache)
Drop Shadows not bombs
Is a modern take on the iconic peace statements of the 60′s. Unfortunately as a piece of pixel pusher apparel the design is as uninspiring as the moneyshot, but then I have just been shopping for some new socks.
Moog Little Phatty analog synth
For years I’ve covetted Moogs synths but never been able to afford one. Typical then that Moog have launched the Little Phatty analog synth for a mere $1500. It’s a purty lil’ thing too.
How to pour Ketchup
Almost managing to fit into our ocassional series of overly informative websites is the full technical explanation of how to pour Ketchup – it fails to enter that category by actually being of interest to more people than just the site’s author.
OMG – I need to have this! – A real Engima machine on eBay!
Someone give me £7,000 to buy this – a real, honest to god Enigma 3 machine. I’ve never seen one apart from in museums and in photos but isn’t that one of the geekiest presents you could ever ask for?
*Update* Thanks to the mulitple people who have pointed out the build you own Enigma machine – it’s a little more affordable so I’ll start saving now.
OOTTINLTO
Why on earth would a GIS for 10th birthday cake turn out to be a OOTTINLTO with Britney’s ‘assets’ being the odd one odd this time?
thanks Dan and Happy Birthday to Gusset
Cheapest DVDs
If you buy dvds online then you might like to bookmark both DVD PriceCheck (includes many regions, not just R2) and find-dvd (which has an American affliate for our USA readers).
Both seem reasonable to me.
Ojos de Brujo
Another music recommendation today in our probably misplaced attempt to broaden people’s horizons. Ojos de Brujo are a Spanish band (the name means ‘Eyes of the Witch’) who make an incredibly hyperactive blend of hip hop/scratching/grafitti and samples combined with traditional flamenco. The result is fast, catchy, highly rhythmical and makes for an explosive and intense live show. If you ever get a chance to see them live then GO! They played Glastonbury festival last year (& the year before I think) and are due to play in London in April. The new album Techari came out today and my copy hasn’t been off my player since. If you only hear one track then make it Ventilator R-80. You’ll thank me.
“Extreme” Exploitation
An email has been doing the rounds in America purporting to be from the casting dept. for Extreme Makeover:Home Edition which shows a worrying trend in tv shows. Just look at the list of requirements of the kind of people they want to feature for the next series! I’m the first to admit to having been quite addicted to this series in the past mostly from a logistical fascination (if you’ve seen the show then you’ll understand that – they tear down homes and rebuild them as luxury houses in 7 days flat). I have noticed that more and more, the families featured have been having worse and worse sob stories and the program is trying too hard to tug at the heartstrings in that oh-so American way (ie: a complete and utter lack of subtlety) and as a result I’ve gone off the program but overall their viewing figures have rocketed so looks like I’m on my own there.
Abandoned record shop
In 1971 Kondoff’s Records closed it’s doors for the last time and was left untouched for forty years.
Big screen cover versions?
By day Brandon Hardesty works as a Customer Service operator, by night he re-enacts scenes from classis movies playing all the roles himself.
Everyflavour Cola
Sounding like something from Charlie and the Chocolate factory, the Programmable Liquid Container lets you pick what flavour you want your cola to be (wonder if you can have cola flavour cola?). Bet it tastes like crud but the kids will love it.
Taking it a bit far
Is it just me or does this seem like a going a bit too far in trying to use a car-pool lane (aka single occupancy lane in the UK).
This SPartan Life hits the big time
We’ve been posting about the excellent This Spartan Life from their beginnings but it seems that the mainstream is finally paying attention to the possibilities of this chat show filmed exclusively within the game of Halo2. Even Wired magazine has a write-up of them and the next episode features an interview with Malcolm McLaren (although the incidents of interviewees being fragged mid-interview are less for this chat as the server was closed to allow the participants to actually talk for once). IF you still haven’t seen any episodes then what are you waiting for?
Unusual mice roundup
Techblog have produced a top ten of the strangest computer mice with the ‘powerglove’ taking mitten power to new extremes.
Pimp My Rims
The current ultimate is car pimpage has to be these LED Rims which add full colour, moving images to your wheel rims. From $15,000 so you’d have to be dumb and rich to buy them.
