Chumby – your hackable friend
My friend Imran is currently at elite, invite-only geek-fest Foo Camp and I’ve been trying to catch up on what he’s reported this year. (Foo Camp is where you are likely to hear about future Amazon, YouTube, Googles etc whilst they’re still in their infancy/back of a cigarette packet stage).
The first very cool looking thing he’s mentioned is Chumby. A gizmo that’s designed to be hackable – kind of the anti-iPod in that respect. Check out some of the first posts about this funky gizmo. Not only can you hack the software and the hardware, they also want people to design ‘clothes’ for it’s exterior. I bet the guys at Make Zine are wetting themselves already.
