Microsoft Vista Upgrade Flowchart
Take a look at this handy spoof flowchart to determine if you can/should upgrade to MS Vista.
Highway to Helvetica
Especially for Carloz – Helvetica vs. Arial and the HelF*%kingVetica t-shirt – both taken from buzzfeed
How to interrupt a vox pop with style
Genius! Full respect to the guy who interrupted a news report by Running with his A$$ on Fire and then nonchalantly walking away as if nothing happened.
How to ship a tiger to Canada
In case you were wondering, here’s how to ship a tiger to Canada. This has the makings of a great kids book.

Another potential deathtrap
We all heard about notebook computer batteries “blowing up” a few months ago. I don’t know about you but when they said “blow up” I kinda thought they meant “got a bit hot and singed your knee hair”. How wrong I was.
OOTTINLTO – smiley
Another OOTTINLTO today (although possibly not strictly so but still good enough to raise a smile) – Google Image Search for smiley (requires moderate safe search only but I think I’ve jiggled the URL so that it should show moderate results regardless of your settings).
cheers Andy
It’s a Potential Deathtrap
If you’ve ever seen a fairground ride that looked a bit dangerous, that’s nothing compared to this guy’s Robotic arm ride – I can’t believe how close his head comes to the ground – I know these are precision machines but that’s taking the p1ss – mind you, it does look amazing fun, just a bit too deadly for my tastes.
The Bumper B3ta Book of Sick Jokes
We’ve p1mped the The Bumper B3ta Book of Sick Jokes already (as well as the Sickipedia site) but that awfully nice man, Rob Manuel, has now stuck the pdf of the entire book online for you to download and keep. Trust me, it really does contain the worst, sickest jokes that you’ve heard (at least since the last time you ventured into a school playground).
Wikipedia’s Unusual Articles
Prepare to lose an hour or so perusing this list of Wikipedia’s Unusual articles. If that page wasn’t enough of a time-waster, how about this one?
In praise of good design
I’m a sucker for good design despite never having bought an Apple product (so many of my cow-orkers seem to think design starts and finishes with Apple – gah!). I particualrly like the Eva Solo teamaker (although mrs grom will probably kill me if I spend almost $100 on another teapot, no matter how much tea I drink).
Save Ferris
What if Ferris Bueller really was sick?
I love these movie re-imagineerings.
Obi-Wan’s Cloak – a snip at £50k
Got a spare wodge of cash burning a hole in you pocket? Why not buy the original Obi-Wan Kenobi’s cloak for a mere £50,000 (that’s $100,000 of your US dollars). I think I’d rather have Tom Baker’s Dr Who coat and scarf. Loads of other items in the auction although few affordable ones. You’ll find less exclusive stuff (but far better bargains) in my favourite eBay category – I’m still thinking about getting some original outfits from Gangs of New York for the next fancy dress party I’m invited to.
Omniglot puzzles
Simon Ager runs the Omniglot website dedicated to language and writing systems. Much as I love the site, it really makes me feel stupid that despite knowing a smattering of languages (I have qualifications in French and such useful things as Latin and Ancient Greek) I couldn’t help to solve any of the unsolved puzzles on the site. Fascinating stuff though.
Brit Mac ads
Mitchell and Webb star in a new series of UK ‘get a mac‘ adverts.
Man dressed as The Joker gets ID card
I like to give respect where it’s due. Full marks to this guy.
Is the person next to you on the plane really bugging you?
The next time you find yourself on a plane, sitting next to someone who cannot resist chattering to you endlessly, I urge you to quietly pull your laptop out of your bag, carefully open the screen (ensuring the irritating person next to you can see it), and load this page
(I can’t be held responsible for any unwarranted an4l intrusion that might occur as a result of the security services asking you some ‘questions’ as a result of following this advice).
cheers Mandeep
BowMaster Prelude
BowMaster Prelude is a very addictive game. Bear with it past the long tedious introduction and you get a game about as addictive (and as poor graphically) as that damn tower defence game we posted recently. Experiment with the shooting styles to find one you can do and that doesn’t take forever to clear a level and prepare for work productivity to plummet.
OOTTINLTO – datacenter
Yay! another classic OOTTINLTO – this time it’s a Google Image Search for datacenter (note the US spelling) (oddly, sometimes this only shows when you hit search for the 2nd time)
cheers Pricey
Ever been this drunk?
Ever been this drunk?
(that also reminds me of this old classic joke)
Deary me
‘One of the most dangerous ways homosexuality invades family life is through popular music. Parents should keep careful watch over their children’s listening habits, especially in this Internet Age of MP3 piracy’. The pr1cks at this lame Xtian site have a handy list of Gay bands that they recommend.
(Love the descriptions of Oscar Wilde as a ‘reformed homosexual’, Morrissey as ‘questionable’ and Elton John as ‘really gay’). The funny thing is spotting the people on this list who are by no means gay (although they may be termed ‘gay-friendly’) – I think some people are submitting their favourite bands as a laugh, how else could you have people like Corinne Bailey Rae – the Rae bit of her name is taken from her husband’s name – hardly a hardcore lesbian thing to do!
Eclectic Method – We’re Not VJs
We’ve done many posts about visual mash-up artistes Eclectic Method before and they’re now offering you the chance to get a copy of their acclaimed ‘We’re Not VJs’ DVD for a limited time for free. Simply download
Audio clip: Adobe Flash Player (version 9 or above) is required to play this audio clip. Download the latest version here. You also need to have JavaScript enabled in your browser.
(about 2Gb), rename the file extension from .mp3 to .rar and unrar it using winrar and you’ll have all the vbo files needed to burn it onto dvd – isn’t that nice of them.
Bob Burnquist is a nutter…
…because he combines skating and 1500 foot drops into the Grand Canyon! Clicky. NSFW due to smutty banners.
Handmade Star Wars
Made back in 1990 on a super-8 video camera, Handmade Star Wars is a very good recreation of the Death Star scene literally handmade.
How to Whittle a Ball in a Cage
Something else to add to the long list of things that I’d like to get round to making but never will – How to Whittle a Ball in a Cage.
One Man Band
Why should you play a guitar normally when you can play like Andy McKee? Plenty more of his stuff on YouTube if that whets yer whistle.
eBay.co.uk: Shopping Trolley Perfect For Salvaging
Want to recreate your very own Whisky Galore? Then you might like this rather opportunistic eBay auction for a Shopping Trolley Perfect For Salvaging. For our foreign readers, this and this should help to enlighten you.
(As a side note, apparently my grandfather was sent to the town of the original Whisky Galore when it happened to attempt to recover the crates of booze – a pretty thankless task I think – I doubt he was very popular).
thanks Andy
Another weird USB drive round-up
This round-up of 10 weird USB drives contains a couple that I hadn’t seen before – gotta love the bowling ball one although not only is it too heavy to carry around, it’s also no longer spherical and so won’t bowl properly anymore.
Google Earth Weirdness
Is it just me or does this aerial shot from near Medicine Hat in Alberta look like a native American Indian listening to an iPod?
cheers Jim
It’s Flicky!
Gloriously silly video showing what you can do with a mobile phone, Run DMC and a video camera.
