Penn and Teller tackle D1cks
As part of Penn and Teller’s superb series of investigations entitled ‘Bullsh1t!’ They’ve tackled Circumcision – something that in my mind is a completely and utterly pointless piece of surgery and a brutal thing to do to someone. I know from talking to others that I actually seem to be in a minority in being anti-male circumcision and yet I’ve yet to meet a single person who thinks female circumcision is a good thing. Go figure.
If this topic really isn’t to your taste then find another topic that suits you more – there are almost 50 episodes to choose from and they’re virtually all on google video or youtube.
You CAN Touch This
I’d like to think that Jeff Han created his astounding multi-touch interface as a direct response to MC Hammer but somehow I think he had loftier ideas in mind. We first posted about this stunning new computer interface that looks like something out of Minority Report almost a year ago but it’s been getting a lot of press recently (especially judging by the amount of mail I’ve received about it). It’s certainly not a new idea but it’s definitely the best example I’ve seen in practise.
Lost the Plot?
If you’ve ever felt like you’ve lost the plot then you could try Dave’s Funky Premise Generator – a boon for all budding authors.
Down with this sort of thing
You really couldn’t make it up! Craggy islands say ‘Feck off’.
How far can you bend a Boeing 777 wing?
Fascinating to see this test on how far a Boeing 777 wing will bend before breaking.
Free eBay pamphlets
You know that cruddy eBAy auctions for ‘information pamphlets’. I hope none of our readers have ever wasted money on them but if you’re curious about what they say, this guy has bought loads of Free eBay Information and posted it all to his site as Public Service Announcement.
Burning a Candle at Both Ends
What happens when you Burn a Candle at Both Ends – this simple experiment shows you.
Animal Magic
Amazing what you can do with a pair of hands and some paint!
Good Web Design Reference
Although I’m probably the last person to talk about good web design, a very useful resource to bookmark is this list of Web Design References.
Ice Ice Baby
Here in the UK we’re very lucky that most of our roads are gritted when bad weather strikes – that helps to stop this kind of scary ice skidding on the roads in Portland. Mind you if you live in Oregon, you’d have thought people would have snow tyres or at least know how to drive on ice better.
Online TV Shows
Here’s a great resource for when you’re bored or want to catch up on some tv shows. There are hundreds of TV Shows available for instant viewing (they stream extraordinarily quickly – virtually no wait for buffering) and you can pick from lots of different sections (select from the drop down channel chooser on the top right of the screen. There are even a load of good recent movies to watch. Very dubious legality but hey, it works very well indeed.
cheers Chris
*Edit* amended the URL to the actual destination, not the leech site.
Black Sheep
If you’ve seen Severance or Shaun of the Dead (and if not, why not – they’re both really, really good comedy/horror films) then you’ll probably want to see Black Sheep – watch the Trailer and see what I mean.

listpic – an image viewer for craigslist
Now here’s another good idea. If you’ve ever used craigslist then you know that, despite being a very useful site, it’s visually simple (in fact, to me, that most of the appeal). How about a site that allows you to skim through the uploaded thumbnails for each category? listpic gives you just that ability – simply pick your local craigslist on the right hand side (I’ve linked to the San Francisco one), pick a category and see what’s on offer. I know most people will probably jump straight to the ‘women seeking women’ category but it’s really the ability to see houses, furniture etc which makes this useful.
UK Traffic Resources
Since we’re having a bit of weather here at the moment (it’s blowing a gale outside and lots of roads are now closed), I thought some of our readers would find these traffic report mashups useful;
Transport Direct
Live Travel News Map

These are perfect examples of why we love mashups and why web 2.0 wasn’t just a cruddy marketing phrase.

Amusing places close to you
How far from a rude place are you? We’ve got some great ‘historical’ place names here in the UK – for instance, I’m near Upperthong, Beaver Dyke and Dicken-Dyke (love that last one!) Are there any Amusing places close to you?. If you’re not from the UK then you can try entering one of these UK postcodes (zipcodes). (I’m fairly sure that we’ve posted this one before but it’s too good to leave out just in case if we haven’t).
cheers Al
OOTTINLTO – Knot
Now listen carefully, this is a perfect One Of These Things Is Not Like The Others ‘if’ you have moderate Safe Search turned on – it won’t work for safe search – Off or On so you might have to fiddle with your settings. On the plus side, a Google Image Search for ‘knot’ with moderate safe search does, indeed, give us a page full of knots and one solitary images of some mange b00b13s so fulfils pretty much everything we require from a OOTTINLTO.
many thanks Richard – the bonus points are yours!
Glastonbury 2007 headliners unveiled (possibly)
Glastonbury Festival headliners aren’t usually revealed until tickets go on sale but there are very strong rumours this year that Glastonbury 2007 headliners have been agreed aleady.
Bunny 30 second Theatre does Borat
Those adorable bunnies are back again, this time tackling Borat in 30 seconds.
DIY Guide: Your own Supervillain Hideout
Doing subterranean urban exploration is full of hazards both legal and physical but you break into an ‘abandoned’ (it wasn’t) power station that extends 10 stories below the surface, is madness but to do it at a US border wearing ninja suits and carrying rucksacks full of dodgy looking gear AND coming out at the end of a tunnel which is blocked by the Niagara Falls goes so far beyond lunacy that I can’t even start to describe the mental deficiencies of the guys who did this trip – for that, we salute you.
cheers Pricey
Silent Star Wars
Harold Lloyd would be so proud! Silent Star Wars is an instant classic.
cheers Bear & Olz
The Doctor Sings
I won’t brook any discussion about who is the best Doctor Who ever. It’s simple – Tom Baker IS Doctor Who and The Doctor Sings!
Japanese Bikini Rodeo Pie-Fighting
For adding Bikini-clad Rodeo Pie-Fighting girls to the list of our favourite spectator sports, we salute you Japan.
Chili Bucket
Lovely Western animation entitled Chili Bucket with a few nice twists and a good payoff. The animation and characterisation is just brilliant though.
thanks Kim
Waverunner Submarine
Personal submarines usually seem like a good idea ion theory but not in practise but the Innespace Dolphin Waverunner Submarine looks too much fun – it can leap, dive and roll like a dolphin – just check out the vid to see the full effect (I’d have liked to see more sub-aqua bits though).
Beer Printer Hack
Hacking for hacking’s sake is something we very much approve of. This project to hack an old printer cartridge to turn it into a handheld electronic stamper is, on it’s own a superb idea but wait until you get to page 4 with the real life example of printing onto a pint of Guinness. Now that’s pure genius!
OOTTINLTO – barn door
Yes, Yes, Yes! a perfect OOTTINLTO to start the week with! I’ve also had quite a few queries asking for an explanation of OOTTINLTO so here goes (Again!). Go to Google Image Search and type in your chosen word/phrase. If you’ve been successful you will get a page full of thumbnails which of which, hopefully, ‘One Of These Things Is Not Like The Others‘ and for the full bonus points, the odd thumbnail out will be a rude one. Today’s odd one out is a search for barn door. You should see a page full of barn doors plus one image of Tara Reid exposing a lone b00b13. Yes it’s immature and the results often don’t last long but we like them. One last thing to highlight – the results do vary depending on your google settings – best to have 30 or 50 images shown on a page and definitely turn safe search off.
cheers Andy
The Pirate Bay Wants to Buy Sealand
Although I love the sound of Pirate Bay Wanting to Buy Sealand, it does ring a few alarm bells – there was a fire recently caused, I think, by a faulty generator but the press release mentioned something about all of the servers having been moved off Sealand before the fire which sounded very suspicious. Mind you, if the Pirate Bay was going to buy new premises then I can’t think of a better place for their base.
Randi Revamps $1M Psychic Prize
We’ve covered James Randi and his million dollar challenge before but I’ve just read the news that the $1M Psychic Prize is being revamped and there’ll be a bigger media push coming focusing on the more famous parasites on gullibility (such as bender-extraordinaire Uri Geller). The rules are extremely simple and fair – you just have to prove your ‘psychic’ talent under controlled conditions and you get $1million. Amazingly the competition has been running since 1964 (as far as I can remember) but no-one has yet passed the preliminary stage hence the decision to ditch the preliminary stage but to only allow entrants who have demonstrated media exposure (ie: high profile frauds (my words)). I really hope these fakers and fakirs get exposed on primetime instead on preying on their victims.
RAW Essence Released
I’m truly sorry to hear that Robert Anton Wilson has died. Fnord.
All’s Hell that ends well
If you’ve ever had to do an exit interview then I bet you wished that you’d submitted one like this act of genius (background here). (Caution NSFW – loads of naughty words).
