What What
Is this the Gayest Thing Ever?
Pass the mindbleach.
Marmite Guinness
Best thing since sliced bread or grossest thing ever? Marmite Guinness – you decide. I’m just upset with the ‘alcohol-free’ warning on it.
Worlds First Wheelchair Backflip
That’s some pretty hardcore sitting from Aaron Fotheringham. Dude got skillz.
This is an dead scam
We’ve posted many examples of scambaiting in the past (where people engage 419 email scammers/aka Nigerian scam) but the guy who got some scammers to act out Monty Python’s Dead Parrot sketch, scammer style is a genius! It’s almost up there with my old favourite.
Right Place
Video Right Place is a charming little short about an obsessive Japanese guy who doesn’t quite fit in but believes everyone and everything has it’s right place. Love the closing credits too.
What’s Your Vinyl Worth?
Popsike is a handy site if, like me, you have a large vinyl album collection full of limited editions but no longer own a record player. The site won’t help you to sell your records but will show you what similar items were sold for.
Hairstyle Names From 1970s Ebony Ad
If these hairstyles all look the same, you’re obviously a racialisticer. Me? I’ll be mostly sporting the ‘Perfecto’ this week.
cheers Kim
The Visual HTML Jokes Pool in Flickr
Ahh! Geek humour at it’s finest in the Flickr Visual HTML Jokes Pool.
Site Update
Not many posts today – v.busy with work and also trying to sort out some long term site issues. Namely; I’m finally dumping the crappy comment program I was using so bye bye enetation and hello Blogger comments (once I’ve got it up). I’ve also added a new improved way to subscribe via RSS with many options available (see on the righthand nav bar just above the Archives). Please feel free to try out the new comments and let me know what you think (once they’re working).
Reinventing the wheel
Square wheels aren’t something that sound like they’d work but the theory is plausible and this video demonstrates the principle nicely – you need a grooved path with bumps of the correct depth. (I would point out that the ‘square wheeled bicycle’ is actually a tricycle though).
If that isn’t enough reinvention of the wheel then how about the Tweel?
cheers Richard
This post can cause hearing loss
You really wouldn’t want to be standing right in front of this snow-speaker when they turned it on!
Wonderful HDR image
If you’re into photography then you may have heard about HDR , a method of combining shots to boost shadows and light to give an almost surreal effect. I’ve just stumbled upon one of the best examples I’ve seen yet on Flickr. Large goodness here.
Google can’t even spell their own name properly!
If you look at today’s Google homepage, you might notice that the banner manages to mis-spell their own name as ‘Googe’! I’ve archived a version off for viewing after today. How come no-one’s spotted this yet?
BCSD
Check out this guy whose selling his Ferrari Testiculossa. Then check out his feedback, then check out his most recent purchse from user aftenterprises. It all adds up nicely! Not particularly suitable for work. BTW, if you didn’t know what BCSD
stood for…
Nina Simone – Erets Zavat Chalav
I’m in love and even better mrs grom fully approves. The object of my desire is, and has been for a long time, Nina Simone. You can probably appreciate quite how delirious I was to see this video from 1962 of Nina performing Erets Zavat Chalav, a Hebrew song (I think, please correct me if I’m wrong). Simply stunning.
The Wrong Door at American Idol
The Wrong Door at American Idol – not sure why this made me giggle so much.
Be My Anti-Valentine
Be My Anti-Valentine and don’t forget the Tesco classic.
Helsinki Complaints Choir
Finnish artists Tellervo Kalleinen and Oliver Kochta-Kalleinen collected the pet peeves and angst-ridden pleas of people in Helsinki and then composed this choral work around the list of complaints. There are now at least 7 complaints choirs around the globe.
Alea Jacta Est
mrs grom has always mocked me for having spent almost a decade learning latin when I was younger – she’s probably right as even after all that time, I still need the odd bit of help translating Asterix Latin Quotes into English.
Need a Lift?
I’m currently being hypnotised by the (NSFW) looping animation demonstrating how to use the liftits b00bie perkifier.
Oscar torrents
It’s never really been a coincidence that lots of movies suddenly become available on pirate sites at this time of year but this year you’re not going to get much more blatant than Oscartorrents.com .
Squeezebox Sonata
OK, it’s not a sonata, it’s a tocata and fugue… and saying this guy plays a “squeezebox” is like saying Charles Mingus plays the “bass fiddle”… Bach Tocata and Fugue in D-minor on Accordian – I can’t believe the range of timbre this guy can get out of his instrument – if I didn’t know better I’d say there was some guy with a pipe organ just off camera!
Top 10 Naked People on Google Earth
In case you were wondering if it was true that some people really do have too much time on their hands, let me point you to the Top 10 Naked People on Google Earth (SFW)
“This is the monkey..
…..you found the monkey!” is a lyric from one of the Modified Toy Orchestra’s tracks who thankfully do exactly what they say on the tin. Great stuff.
Sixty second remix contest
In an age of ever shortening attention spans the good ole three minute pop single now feels like a triple disc concept album, but thanks to the sixty second remix contest popular hits from yesteryear are condensed into a super compact format for the attentionally challenged.
Sushi cannibals
In this Tokyo restaurant you can now indulge in the sensual delights of eating the finest sushi from the naked body of young lady and then explore your darker culinary fantasies by carving into her body and eating her raw innards. Perfect for valentines day. NSFW (as it looks more dodgy than it is from a distance!)
A Guide to Grading Exams
If you’ve ever felt cheated about a poor grade then you might like to know how modern educators Grade Exams

When a monitor dies… take it out back and shoot it like a lame horse.
Interactive LED Dining Table
When I finally find a new house to move into, I want an Interactive LED Dining Table for it.
ikea hacker
ikea hacker isn’t a site showing you how to break into the furniture giant’s computers. That would be silly, no instead, it’s a site showing you how to modify and make the most out of your mass market flat-pack. (underneath it’ll still be ikea though – why not find a local craftsman who can make something much more personal for you instead?)
