Best Urinal Ever

Men would aim a heck of a lot better if we got to use the best urinal ever.
*Edit* Try the cached version if that’s not working for you.

Pirates and Emperors

Very political but done so well, Pirates and Emperors is just like the old educational song animations you used to see on tv back in the 70′s. Very good.

Tzuriel Refael, Israeli ambassador to El Salvador

According to Auntie, Tzuriel Refael has been dragged back from El Salvador for “behaviour that is unbecoming of a diplomat”. If a p1ssed gimp having to remove a ball-gag before they can give their name is “unbecoming behaviour” then Napalm is a dry skin remover! ta Hell

I watched both of these short videos full of Pogo Stick Craziness with a big grin on my face, don’t know why, it was just another example of ridiculous Japanese silliness.

Serge Gainsbourg – Dub Style

I picked up a copy of a great album last week that I thought was good/unusual enough to share – it’s Serge Gainsbourg’s Aux Armes et Caetera. Yep, that’s Serge ‘creepy French pensioner’ Gainsbourg doing a dub album! Luckily he called up a masterclass of musicians such as the ubiquitous Sly and Robbie and the I-Threes and it’s a really, really good album that I can’t believe I hadn’t already got in my collection. Recommended.
*Edit* Here’s the Amazon link for the album – sorry about the link – it seems you can only get to the most recent posts on that blog without registering – I’m registered so it still showed me the old ones hence my mistake.

A temporary tattoo for everyone

Prime Towers is well-known as housing a wide variety of classy body adornments but we don’t really approve of temporary tattoos. I’m not, however, willing to tattoo my young ‘uns, if I did, I’d probably reach straight for these baby tattoos. I’m more likely to go for the Tattoos for the elderly range but who on earth would have the utter lack of self respect to wear a belly sucker tattoo?

Packetgarden

Packetgarden is an interesting idea for visualising your web habits. The program creates a world based on your web traffic, uploads create hills and downloads create valleys whilst different types of traffic plant seens for various plants. Not overly useful but pretty and thought-provoking.

Don’t upset Property Developers in China

This Chinese family found out the hard way what happens when you refuse to sell your house to the property developer who bought all the other houses around you. How do they get into the garage?

Tufnell’s T-Shirt

This is my exact inner structure done in a t-shirt.
Exactly medically accurate.”
“So in other words if we were to take all your flesh and blood and and take them off, this is what you’d see…It wouldn’t be green though…

“It IS green. See how your blood looks blue.” Nigel Tufnell’s skeleton t-shirt is now available from founditem clothing.

Lose a finger, gain a toe

Not sure about posting this video as we have certain standards to uphold here at Prime Towers, and after I saw the title of the video I watched through my fingers as the video unfolded. The bit that the whole video is named after… the “Moray eel bites scuba diver and eats his thumb” bit is only a tidgey part of the video and it’s not as graphic as it could be so I feel we can post it without getting to far into the realms of gory (although if you are a sensitive type it could give you a queasy tummy… you have been warned!)… and there’s a little touch of comedy Darwinian theory in action (if you are intent on feeding big fish with big teeth sausages that look like your thumb, don’t be surprised when your thumb gets confused for a sausage!). The bit I found really cool was the (not too graphic) surgery at the end of the video where the guy has his thumb replaced by one of his toes and the end results is almost as good as the real thing! Amazing! (if you don’t have the time to watch it, the finger bit is around 3:20 and the toe-finger operation starts at about 4:20)

OLPC demo

Here’s the best demo I’ve seen of the OLPC pc (One Laptop Per Child). It still shows fantastic promise but I’m disappointed that they seem to have missed a trick – the idea is that they cost very little and are highly resilient but one of the original ideas was to sell them to people in the West/first world countries to fund giving them away in the 3rd world countries and I’d be happy to pay £200 for one knowing that half of that cost paid for the laptop and the other half paid for someone else to get one for free but this idea has now been discounted and last I heard, they won’t be available to buy anywhere in the West.

11500 links to YouTube music videos

Here’s an excellent resource (as long as the record companies don’t find it and demand that they get taken down. 11500 music videos arranged alphabetically – that’s my viewing for the next year sorted out then!
cheers again KD
*Edit* Wow – just used this to find a fanmade anime video that’s amazingly good for an old favourite – Sublime’s Date Rape. Check it out!

San Francisco Pillow Fight 2007

I’ve been having a few pc problems at home recently and in my kerfuddle completely forgot to post a few links I’d seen. I’m therefore grateful to Kim in the good ol’ US of A for reminding me to post the link to the images from the San Francisco Pillow Fight 2007. I’ve really got to start one of these over here – it looks like an hour or so of unmitigated fun.

The world’s most important 6-sec drum loop

This video is fascinating on many different planes. From my rather simple, almost luddite-esque perspective I love they way that a single guy playing a drum kit in the funky manner I hold so dear and with lovely messy analogue production can ring so profoundly through the years and be the cornerstone of a significant chunk of modern music. I dare say Grom could waffle on for months about the copyright issues raised at the end of he video, and Carloz could prattle about the technicalities of the sampling and sequencing involved. Either way I’m sure, if you have any genuine interest in music, you will watch all 18 minutes of this rotating record intently.

Misspent youth 2.0

Young grom and myself enjoyed many evenings doing all sorts of constructive stuff on his Commodore Amiga and I later went on to produce an EP using two Amiga 1200′s that was going to be released by Ninja until they realised they couldn’t afford the lawsuits for my gung-ho sampling endevours. Anyway I guess we’re two of the small group of ‘ardent followers’ who are pleased to see that Commodore are releasing a new computer.

Apocalypto – Teaser Easter Egg

Someone’s just pointed out a little easter egg to me on the Apocalypto – Teaser. About 3/4 of the way through the trailer, you should see one of the flashing montages which includes a monkey, just after a bunch of guys who look like they’ve just left a Fields of the Nephilim gig (for our younger/US readers, think Rob Zombie. When you see the monkey, pause the video and click backwards to rewind frame by frame for about 5-10 frames – see anything that shouldn’t be there? It’s very easy to see so you’ll know what I mean when you get there!
