Man flogs wife’s box on eBay

I know this is very silly indeed and also over a year old but who can resist the immature silliness of the man trying to sell his wife’s box on eBay?

Lotus Elise racing

This guy, Dean Evans, is either in a completely different car to everyone else or he’s one talented guy, either way he’s so much faster than everyone else on the track that this video looks more like a video game than a real race. He seems to find grip and torque where no one else does, and seems to magically make the car breathe in to squeeze through impossibly small gaps. It’s fantastic close racing – I’m sure there are moments when three cars go through a chicane side by side. Tres cool!

b3ta.com challenge: new top trumps

As someone whose last programming challenge was the creation of an online TopTrumps game about 7 yrs ago, I was extremely tickled when Steve pointed out the current b3ta challenge was to create a New Top Trumps. They’re very funny indeed.

Amazon.com acquires dpreview.com: Digital Photography Review

I find it a little odd that Amazon.com has acquired dpreview.com but if dpreview continues it’s traditional of being an exceptional resource for digital photgraphy then I guess I’m happy that their stability has been ensured. If you ever need any facts about digital cameras then this site should stil be your first port of call.

Billy’s Balls 2

I’m guessing that paid employment comes a long way down Billy Marks’ list of priorities judging from the amount of time needed to perfect the tricks shown in the Billy’s Balls 2 video.

I hate crocs!

Add me to the evergrowing collection of people and places who really, really hate crocs (those deeply, fugly ‘shoes’ that offend the eyes and nose and any taste you have). I might just have to wear the t-shirt just in case anyone still doesn’t get the message about how much I loathe this fad. Bring back the 80′s espadrille!

Star Wars PSAs

Remember the awfull (and yet iconic) Public Service Announcements in the 80′s? There’s a whole stack of them on YouTube done by black20.com. Check out the Lightsabers, This is your brain on the Dark Side, candy wagon, Vader Dad, Tractor Beam and Stop, Drop & Roll.

Angry old lady

Not sure if this is a repost or it’s just pretty similar to posts that have come before it… I know telemarketing can be a bit of a pain in the ar5e, but this is ridiculous. Hats off to the guy for keeping so calm. NSFW, requires speakers.

BJs cause cancer

Extremely disturbing news from the BBC that a new report says that Oral sex has been linked to throat cancer. mrs grom, upon being told the news, said ‘you realise how stupid you are to tell me this?’ Sometimes I am as amazed at my own stupidity as everyone else is on a daily basis!
(I do also, realise that the report is a very headline-grabbing, alarmist one that won’t stand up to rigorous scientific scrutiny and I can’t wait for it to make an appearance on Bad Science – a thoroughly recommended site)

Multicoloured Gypsy Chandelier

I’m moving house next week but I’ll have to wait until I actually get into the new house before I can find out if I can fit one of these truly funky Gypsy Chandeliers anywhere – I’m utterly in love with this light.
Cool – mrs grom has just found it even cheaper here.
Oh, posts will be a bit light next week unless Carloz, Solomon, Al etc can tickle up some posts as I’ll be off work and rather busy/knackered moving – sorry, normal service will be resumed asap. And anyone who knows me IRL feel free to email me to get my new RL contact details – it’ll be the same phone number as always but I lost a lot of my contacts a few months ago in a pc crash.

Spinal Tap – Live Earth

Good News – Spinal Tap are due to reform for about the 26th time for the Live Earth concert at Wembley in July. There’s a great video on the link where you can find out that Nigel has been raising miniature horses to race but can’t find jockeys small enough to ride them; David is now a hip-hop producer who also runs a colonic clinic; and Derek is in rehab for addiction to the Internet.

T-shirt Vending Shop/Machine

As if I needed yet another reason to want to visit Japan, I’ve just found out about the UT:Uniqlo shop over there. The shop works like a huge vending machine for t-shirts (some photos here). Not only is this an immensely cool idea for a t-shirt addict like myself but the designs are stunning, they’ve even got ranges such as the Mr Tezuka range (the creator of Astro Boy), a Terry Richardson range and for the designer in you, a Pantone range to ensure you get the exact colour you wanted. I’m off to brush up on my Japanese to see if I can work out if the online store will deliver to the UK.

World´s Biggest Computer Display

We’ve seen the concept of using lights in a building being turned on and off as a large display before but the Blue Box BlinkArena goes a little further in that the entire building was specially customised with 686 spotlights connected to a pc. You can see the setting up of it here and if you want to control it or play games on it (Pacman/Pong/Symmetris) with your friends then see the homepage for the phone number you need to dial into the system.
