I’m away for a week
I hate to do this to you all again, especially as it’s so soon after the break when I moved house, but I’m away to Northern Ireland for a week so no posts next week unless Carloz or Solomon would care to step into the breach. I had meant to set up a couple of guest accounts for some people to post whilst I’m away but have run out of time. I’m still happy to use the idea of guest bloggers if anyone is interested, give me a shout on my return and I’ll work something out.

Dresden Dolls Video Shoot
I’m utterly in love with the Dresden Dolls (as I might have mentioned numerous times in the past) – like Gogol Bordello and Cornelius, they’re so unique and independent. Have a look at the slideshow from the video shoot for Shores of California, their next single, and tell me how you can not like them. Stunning images too.
(I’d also note that I only found out that both Dresden Dolls and Cornelius played in Leeds a day or two after the gigs took place this year – how p155ed off was I – at least I got to see the almighty Gogol Bordello last year).

Ahh Cheese Rolling, that’s my kind of sport. I didn’t actually see any cheese in this video though – I also like the idea of having the rugby team at the bottom to ensure that everyone gets at least one injury for taking part. You gotta love utterly pointless traditions like this.

Nope, it’s not something from Eerie, Indiana (man, I used to love that show!), the Weirdconverter is actually a simple but amusing way of expressing such things as a human eyeball weighs as much as 17636 whale testes but one whale testicle only weighs as much as 10 Jennifer Anistons.
First 1 trillion-pixel image – and it’s not pr0n!
I know it has many decent applications in medicine but you’d have thoguht that for the world’s First 1 trillion-pixel image they’d have picked a better photo! Seriously though a 143Gb image (compressed!) is almost uncomprehendable.

The Lisa Simpson BJ Logo
Most UK readers will now have seen the atrocious logo for the 2012 Olympics (nicknamed the Lisa Simpson BJ) but the best bit was that the BBC ran a feature showing readers’ alternative designs on the website including a now-infamous Goatse logo. The offending logo has now been removed from the website but lives on in this genius video clip.
