Bottle Blade Mozart
(Possible repost warning) Rollerbalding and classical music are not often found as bedfellows but this cahp seems to have made it work well.
We need a tank
The Space Hijackers are sick of being pushed around by the police when they try to infiltrate DSEi, Europe’s largest arms fair at ExCeL London. However this year they’re trying raise enough money to buy a tank by selling tshirts.
ChessCoaster
Now that’s genius! Inspired by this comic strip, people have started glueing down chess pieces onto a board and taking photos of themselves, deep in thought, on rollercoasters. Chesscoasters rock.
Beyond Belief
I’ve got a soft spot for Damien Hirst, not that I think he’s any good at ‘art’, more that he’s so unapologetic about his work and the fact that he’s more honet than most high profile artists about not actually having any hands-on involvement in the creation of the pieces, he mostly sketches onto napkins and gives it to his teams to create (I’m still waiting for a Spinal Tap/Stonehenge moment though). His new piece, Beyond Belief is supposed to be the most expensive piece of art ever but I’m even more of a fan of the prank done by Laura.
cheers Bear
The Red Hot Chilli Pipers
I don’t care how good or bad they are, I love them for the name alone – the Red Hot Chilli Pipers are Jock’n'Roll and they’re actually not bad but then again, I’m probably one of the few people south of Hadrian’s Wall who likes bagpipe music.
Poof! and it’s gone.
Poof – Changing the way you do your business, one drop at a time.
(took me a few seconds to realise what on earth this actually was).
3D Mailbox – why?
Oh dear $deity no! Who on earth would want to bloat their computer by installing the 3D Mailbox? It’s like the worst bits of Second Life overrunning your inbox. This is not what web 2.0 is intended to be, it’s just ugh. No, no, no, no – The only thing missing is the ‘sponsored by AOL (circa 1999)’ spinning logo. Wrong.
Literal Answers to Rhetorical Questions
Being an annoyingly literal person at times I love th idea of the Literal Answers to Rhetorical Questions page but it could do with more examples.
Mock ITV’s F1
This is probably only of limited interest, but if you live in the UK, like F1 and have a sense of humour (I appreciate the latter two don’t necessarily go hand-in-hand) then this cartoon will probably tickle you.
Dramatic Look… Dah dah daaaaahhhhhhh!!!!
This dramatic look clip is only about 3 seconds long but any more would simply be wasted! Crank your speakers up for full effect. Based on this original dramatic look gopher/prairie dog meme
AOTTALTO
Here’s a new idea for you to try. Similar in idea to our regular feature OOTTINLTO (One of these things is not ike the others), AOTTALTO (All of these things are like the others) was suggested by Richard. Teh idea is fairly self-explanatory, you have to find Google Image search results for an image that is so iconic that every result on the page is the same. My first thought was to try mona lisa and the same Mona Lisa with the ‘&imgtype;=face‘ method but neither worked perfectly, nor did Richard’s Vetruvian Man, London Calling or Dark Side of the Moon.
Some simple rules, different image size or variations in cropping of the same image are fine. The results have to fill at least one results page. We’ll make the others up as we go along but please post any you can find.
Orb Avoidance
Dodgy balls. That’s pretty much the only description one can make of the game of Orb Avoidance.
Random newdness and the Bicycle Lighting System
I love the utter randomness and pointless nudity on this page about a Bike Lighting System. (NSFW in case the reference to nekkidness didn’t warn y’all).
Shedloads of fonts
We’ve not posted any font sites for a while so here’s pretty much every free font you’ll ever need.
Dubber Ruckie
Now that’s what I call a big Rubber Duckie, now to find a bath big enough!
Goatse of the Damned
Even the undead can be goatse’d. (SFW)
Real Life not good enough for you?
Now this is what I call taking World of Warcraft waaay too seriously! This guy strapped a camera on poles to his back feeding into a display in front of his face so that instead of looking at life normally, he had the WoW PoV. Nicely nutty.
Unnecessary Censorship
Best of Jimmy Kimmel’s Unnecessary Censorship.
Fictional T Shirts
These T Shirts pay homage to some of the most memorable places, corporations and companies in 20th century fiction.
Blogger’s drafty site
Just found out about the Blogger in draft blog from Google which features all of the beta/labs stuff for Blogger that Google is working on. I see they’ve got an interesting new search widget for blogs so I’ll investigate it and might try it out on this site soon.
Pixellery
mikeandmaaike have a range of pixelated jewellery which looks quite funky (probably best viewed from a distance).
Beautiful Underwater Sculptures
Sod diving for wrecks or artificial reefs, I want to dive in Grenada, West Indies to see these beautiful Underwater Sculptures.
Another Bloomin’ Business Card
Nice idea for business cards.
Spencer Tunick’s at it again – Amsterdam
I’m actually quite surprised that Spencer Tunick‘s not done Amsterdam before – if you need a lot of naked people and no hassle from the police then it’s the perfect place for him to take his infamous shots. (Note: being Spencer’s work, it’s art but links are NSFW)
Architectural odditites
I’m in love with the trompe l’oeil effect of this Melting building.
This vortex tunnel building is way cool too.
While we’re on a building vibe, you must have all seen Pierre Cardin’s bubble/cave house before?
Best Dog Suit Ever
ok, it’s not got a huge amount of competition but this is probably still the Best Dog Suit Ever.
LED Art Fan
This LED Art Fan is an excellent use of POV but a bit pricey & loses points for requiring a serial port (they could have easily used USB instead since many computers don’t have serial legacy ports these days).
Return of the Living Dead done in 60 seconds
When I was a mere slip of a lad, The Return of Living Dead was one of my favourite movies (and also features one of my favourite Cramps songs in ‘Surfin’ Dead‘). Someone on youtube’s put together Return of the Living Dead in 60 seconds which unfortunately misses out most of the best bits (scream-queen Linnea Quigley’s nekkid dance was very popular for the adolescent grom). There are loads of other clips from the movie up at the moment so pop over and enjoy the first ‘splatstick’ movie. Just steer clear of any of the sequels – they really suck!
(This post was prompted by the posting of the soundtrack to the excellent TwilightZone/RideYourPony blog).
