Bald Guyz get Fresh
Slap heads can now feel a lot more refreshed with the Bald Guyz Head Wipes.
2GIRLS1CUP: the reaction videos
There’s a new goat53-type shock video doing the rounds at the moment. I’m not going to link to it but there is a link to it at the top of this marvellous page of reaction videos (which unfortunately has a NSFW domain name and adverts on it). Trust me when I say that seeing the video in question does NOT make watching the reaction videos any funnier – you don’t need to have seen the original and your life won’t be in any way enhanced by watching it but you will need some of my own patent mindbleach afterwards.
Americans Shouldn’t Cosplay
It’s true, Americans Shouldn’t Cosplay. but then let us not forget.
More Motivational Posters
I do like my spoof motivational posters but no-one has yet come close to my own one (non-uk readers may not fully understand this but you’ll get the idea)
The Official Mustache Database
Ok, so they can’t spell moustache, they’re very puerile and I have a sneaking suspicion that I’ll probably end up on this site some day with my unfortunate choices in facial topiary but I can’t help giggling at the Official Mustache Database – it’s one of those sites that seems to get funnier the longer you look at it.
Senses Working Overtime
There’s an excellent little test on the BBC website about Senses.
Frets On Fire
It’s not often I come across games on SourceForge. The Open-source Frets On Fire is a Guitar Hero clone that swaps hanging your pc’s keyboard round your neck instead of an axe. Brilliant fun once you realise how stupid you look.
Emergency Zombie Defense Station
The Emergency Zombie Defense Station is most awesome indeed.
cheers t3m3r1ty
Shred’s not Dead
Ahh the old teenage years listening to some poodle-rocker indulging in some guitar shredding, that brings back memories! No-one, but no-one does it better than StSanders who’s overdubbed some famous performances in his own inimitable style. I wasn’t sure what was going on when I first saw some of these but as soon as I saw the Iron Maiden spoof I knew it was some funny stuff – almost Spinal Tap funny, it’s that good! (Especially when the circus music starts when Eddie comes out ).
Vista versus The Gutsy Gibbon
My thoughts exactly. I’ve removed vista from the machine that I had it running on and have installed ubuntu. I recently even discovered that my brother had installed OpenOffice and Firefox onto my mother’s laptop and she didn’t realise that she wasn’t running MSOffice and IE7. Coming from a pure MS background, it’s funny that I now have 3 machines running Ubuntu and only 2 running XP (no complaints with XP at all but Ubuntu just sems to be that next step up).
*BarCampLeeds is Coming!*
My good friend Imran has finally got together with many of the geek luminaries in Leeds to arrange BarCampLeeds for Nov 17th. What’s a BarCamp? It’s the more relaxed version of FooCamp obviously (and less elitist as it’s open to everyone) and is excellently described as an ‘unconference’. Turn up, bring a laptop and participate in discussions and demos of a geek nature. It’s totally free and don’t be afraid of the ethos of ‘No Spectators, Only Participants’ you won’t be expected to do anything you haven’t volunteered for and we’re all a very friendly bunch, you learn loads and make a very handy pile of contacts.
Vodka Pills
I think I’d be more likely to take a vodka pill every morning instead of a vitamin but instaed I’ll stick with the awesome Espresso dragee chocolates I’ve found in a local chocolate shop here – each chocolate has a liquid espresso shot encases in dark chocolate – perfection!
The Perfect Girl
This lovely little ditty about The Perfect Girl reminds me of the old tune by Mindless Drug Hoover called ‘Sorry about the Shag (but I’ve changed my mind)’. Snippets available here.
Cool Case Mods
Plenty of cool case mods that I haven’t seen before here including a few that made me go ‘Wow!’ and a couple that made me laugh out loud. From the comments of the post there’s also these two.
cheers Kim
TV Theme Tunes for your Mobile
There are loads of places to get mobile ringtones of old tv show themes but I like this one as it’s simple, clena and lets you grab the mp3s with no effort. UK cult tv bias (8:15 from Manchester, Cloppa Castle, Vision On etc) but plenty for everyone here.
popurls.tv
I’ve been a regular visitor to popurls since it started up as a single page feed aggregator – it’s a handy page to have as a homepage or to surf on a mobile phone. I’ve just discovered the popurls.tv page which shows you in real-time the most popular links that people are clicking on at the site and where in the world they are clicking from.
No Shirts No Service
The Improv Everywhere agents have just posted their latest exploit – No Shirts which featured 110 shirtless men shopping in an Abercrombie & Fitch store. Great stuff.
You put WHAT in a can??
Regular readers will already be aware of many of the inclusions in the Most Curious Comestibles Found Online roundup thanks to our linkage to Steve, don’t eat it (from whom a couple of these images were taken) but at least with this roundup I can proudly say that I’ve eaten (well, tasted at least,) 5 of these 10 food items (bird’s nest drink, haggis, reindeer pate, jellied eels and durian – and by god does durian stink!).
George Lucas in Love
Want to know how George Lucas got the inspiration for Star Wars? Check out George Lucas in Love, a brilliant skit.
The Rambo Granny of Melbourne
Ok, so I’m anti-gun and not normally an advocate of vigilantism but you go, girl! Loving the last paragraph too.
*Edit* D’oh! In my haste to post before a meeting this morning I failed to check my sources and lo and behold it is in fact utter ballcocks. Sorry.
New eBay Tools
A couple of new tools are about to be released by eBay which you can get a jump on everybody else by getting now. eBay Countdown is a big digital timer that, guess what, counts down. More interesting though, is the new eBay Desktop tool – an online app (which runs on Adobe’s AIR tech for you geeks) which runs without a browser but looks like a good way to track your purchases and keep an eye on bids, although it doesn’t allow sniping unlike many other packages you can get.
Look After Your Idols
Rabbit is one of the most stunning animations I’ve seen for years. It’s both innocent and highly disturbing and most definitely worth a watch right through. I don’t know anything about Run Wrake who made it but I’m off to find out more…
*Edit* ah! He’s done a load of the Howie B videos and some stuff with U2, Manu Chao and FSOL’s Papua New Guinea – some pretty classic stuff there and now I’m ashamed that the name didn’t ring any bells with me.
DryPro Cast Cover
Kevin Kelly does manage to find some very unusual products to blog about. Judging by the amount of people I’ve come across recently with broken limbs, the DryPro Cast Cover could be a very useful thing. It’s a waterproof cast cover that will allow you to bathe and swim without damaging your plastercast.
Tattoos for the Blind
This is certainly not a new idea, I remember having a discussion about this very thing with Solomon years ago but that only goes to prove what clever people we are. Braille tattoos are simply subdermal implants made of silicone or titanium which leave the surface of the skin intact but raised just like braille.
Learn The Internets with Gabe & Max’s Internet Thing
I thought I knew everything about the internets. That was until I heard about Gabe and Max’s Internet Thing. I’m saving up now for the cassette tape version – hope I’m in time to get my 6 free emails as part of the bonus pack.
Web 2.0 smut
Now, I’m only posting this as it was quite freaky that less than 2 minutes after posting about the endless stream of Web 2.0 sites, I was sent this List of Web 2.0 pr0n sites by an anonymous (of course) reader saying that this page is currently number one on del.icio.us and NSFW reddit has returned (didn’t even know it had gone away tbh) proving that the whole point of the interweb is smut.
Musicovery
We’ve still not got over web 2.0 yet, the apps keep on coming. Today’s example is Musicovery which describes itself as ‘interactive webradio’ and allows you to select your listening choices by colourscheme. Bizarrely it linked me to the Cramps’ Green Fuzz (excellent) then to Terence Trent D’Arby (not excellent by any stretch of the imagination) then to Dr Albans (oh dear god!) then to Charlie Mingus – I defy anyone to find the link between those disparate tunes – this app is by no means perfect but it’s interesting to play with.
Portal: The Flash Online Version
If you’re aware of the Steam game Portal then you won’t need any instructions on how to play this 2D online version – it’s the same principle but simplified.
Tories bequest battle
Tories lose £8.3m bequest battle – “A judge said Mr Kostic would not have left the money to the Tories if he had been ‘of sound mind“.
All together now, ‘Bwahahahahahahahaha!’
Mashed Potatoheads
Someone give this man a job making cult custom Mr. Potatoheads. They rock.
