Vinyl Sleeve Heads
Vinyl Sleeve Heads is a dead simple idea – hold a 12″ album sleeve in front of you to match in with the image on it. Brilliant idea.
Top 25 Linux 3D Games
I’m bookmarking this list of Top 25 Linux 3D Games and shall work my way through them over the next few weeks – some very cool looking games there and all free (well, all the ones I’ve checked so far anyway).
Super Crazy Guitar Maniac Deluxe 2
Play Super Crazy Guitar Maniac Deluxe 2 online – you know you want to.
Flip Chart
Demetri Martin’s Flip Chart routine is very much in the same vein as Dave Gorman and is therefore recommended.
Weirdo Beavers
Mikael Wulff and Anders Morgenthaler are two Danish ‘men of humour’ who have an very innovatively named website Wulffmorgenthaler.com‘. The page I’ve linked to is the top ten of this years daily mail-out comic strips which will give you a good flavour of their brand of humour – I’d recommend signing up for the daily mail whilst you’re there.
Pacmass Tree
I don’t know the who, what or why of the Pac-man Christmas tree but I likey
Flagging the Issues
An excellent, thought-provoking campaign by Grande Reportagem, a Portuguese current affairs magazine.
Perfect for Hanukah
Looking at this, I guess they’ll also be doing special Ramadan bacon offers.
Craplinks
Earlier this year I received a few emails from readers complaining about the lack of posts (what, the value for money not good enough for you? It’s not exactly costing you anything to come here now is it?). Still, I thought it would be nice to suggest somewhere else you can go if you feel that you need more links than the high quality ones we provide. Craplinks looks like just the place to send those moaning minnies.
Duke Nukem Forever Teaser Trailer
I feel bad posting this brand new teaser trailer for Duke Nukem Forever as I don’t want to get anyones hopes up. 10 years ago I was a very hardcore gamer (a member of, amongst other clans, the European Kingpin champions) and was very excited about the prospect of Duke Nukem Forever, unfortunately it quickly became the very definition of vapourware with only small hints being released every few years or so. I still won’t believe it until I have a copy loaded onto my pc and can play it myself (or, I suspect, my future grandchildren).
(On the plus side, I’ve just found a Linux Loader for Kingpin, a downloadable copy (for $5.95) from Abandonware plus all the extra files you need from Kingpin Forever – so that’s my Xmas sorted)
Good Clean Fun
Two kind of related posts here for you. First up is the Lingerie4Men site which you may have seen on the net in the past week or so – I held off posting it as it reeked of a spoof and now Snickers have revealed that it was a joke to advertise them but anyhow, managing to convince numerous Kiwis to dress up in male lingerie has to be worth a laugh.
On a similar(ish) note, you won’t catch me trying any of the so-called ‘Dick Tricks‘ (unless you have a hidden camera in my shower). Just the description of the ‘Olympic Torch’ had me crossing my legs, ‘Let a friend get a grip around your pen1s. Light a match. Light the pub1c hair right above your pen1s. Two of your friends get in the same position standing next to you, without lighting their hair. Let the fire burn and turn to light up your friend’s pub1c hair with your own.’ Erm, where do I start to explain how many ways I’m not going to do this? Even the diagrams are highly disturbing (and NSFW).
Unholy hateful black metal songtitles
Proving that there is space on the internet for everything comes the black metal songtitle-O-matic – I think I have many of the ‘so-called’ random tracks on here!
The Anti-Disney Tales
I’ve long railed against the Disneyfication of many fairy tales which has left most youngsters (and many adults) thinking that Hans Christian Anderson’s Little Mermaid is a happy story with lots of cute animals in it or that to be happy in life, young girls must find a Prince who will take care of them. Anyone who’re read the original; fairy tales will know that they’re a heck of a lot darker than this. If you want to read up about any of this then Mental Floss’ post 8 Fairy Tales And Their Not-So-Happy Endings is a good, brief starting point but I can also recommend Grimm’s Grimmest, Strewwelpeter or for a more modern take why not try Tom Baker’s The Boy Who Kicked Pigs (yes, THAT Tom Baker) or The Melancholy Death or Oyster Boy by Tim Burton (yes, THAT Tim Burton). All highly recommended by me (but not always suitable for very small children.
Moon Master
Moon Master comes on like an old-skool vector game, a kind of mix between Asteroids, Missile Command and Moon Patrol.
How Many Five Year Olds Could You Take in a Fight?
According to the website How Many Five Year Olds Could You Take in a Fight?.com, I could take on 23 and win. We hate unscientific ‘facts’ here at Prime Towers so I’m off to the nearest primary school to comfirm if this is indeed true. Hopefully I’ll report back later (do they have wi-fi in prison?).
Comedy Reviews for Bic Biros
I meant to post this a few weeks ago but have just been reminded of it now – a series of comedy Reviews for Bic Biros on Amazon – brilliant.
Everyday Normal Guy
Had enough of the whole rap macho lyrics? Maybe Jon Lajoie’s Everyday Normal Guy would be more up your street – he makes a mean spaghetti sauce muthfukka. (NSFW lyrics)
Nine Inch Noels
As pun-tastic names go, Nine Inch Noels are the seasonal winners. Imagine Bing Crosbysinging Trent Reznor songs and you’re pretty much there.
cheers Dan
Jajah gets more useful
With a bro in the states, I’ve been a long time user of Jajah for cheap PC-activated-but-via-an-old-fashioned-phone calls. Well they’ve gone one better with Jajah direct where you can now get a UK number that rings your international number. Oh, and they’re giving you a free call over Christmas.
(Hopefully they’ll add a Leeds version soon so I can call Norfolk at local rates).
The acoustics of vegetables
We’ve featured the Vienna Vegetable Orchestra in previous posts but I liked this video on the the acoustics of vegetables. Odd people (and for that, they get our seal of approval).
Rap Stats vs Ho’s as Flows
Now this is certified genius. Rap represented in mathematical charts and graphs – I thought for a minute that they’d missed 99 bitches but nope, there it is. Test your knowledge of ‘the streets’ by spotting the songs – I think my fave has to be the flowchart for Ice Cube’s ‘It was a good day’.
Pulp Muppets
Another inspired mash-up – Pulp Muppets features all of your favourite stuffed puppets, Beaker, Janice, Kermit, Eric Stolz, Fozzie, Miss Pigggy, Bunsen Honeydew et al and was apparently directed posthumously by Jim Henson.
Hot Chip – Hot Dang
Loving the new video by Hot Chip for their Ready For The Floor ditty even the lead bloke does remind me of the (now)awful Elvis Costello.
Death Star Canteen
The classic Eddie Izzard Death Star Canteen sketch done with lego characters.
What’s Cookin’?
We’ve posted some of Beardyman‘s beatboxing before but his Kitchen diaries is one of the funniest pieces I’ve seen. Genius!
This is me
Funny short for lunchtime
Bike Lids
One of my constant refrains to mrs grom is that I don’t enjoy riding bikes anymore as it’s simply stupid to go out without a helmet these days – I know too many people who’ve had major accidents and were only saved by their helmets – I just hate wearing the things. Maybe I should just bite the bullet and recognise that if I’m going to look dumb, I might as well go over the top and do it in style with one of these bizarre helmet covers – do I go for a spiked led helmet of the brains one? Or none of the above and continue to drive everywhere?
Graphics that go beyond your wildest dreams
And this 1980′s Atari TV advert for Joust probably goes beyond your dream comfort zone too.
