Traumatic porcine buttczex

I wondered long and hard (ooh, that sounds so wrong in the context!) about posting this article on a case of Traumatic an4l intercourse with a pig but what made it essential was the comment below the article, “You know what? Something just occurred to me.
There are more peer-reviewed research papers on the subject of traumatic anal intercourse with a pig than on intelligent design.

I’ve not seen anyone cook scrambled eggs with a torch before. It’s not quite your usual torch though.

Music Round-up

Haven’t done a music update for a long time now so here’s what I’ve been listening to recently. I highly recommend all of the bands/albums below;
The Monks – a ridiculously ahead-of-their-time band formed in the mid-60′s by a bunch of demobbed US Marines based in Germany. You can get some stuff via torrents or check them out on youtube. There’s plenty of vids out there but for starters try Monk Chant or I Can’t Get Over You.
Next up, Norwegian lass Ida Maria who performed the astonishing Oh My God on Jools Holland last week and also has the great single Stella out. Her tunes might not be to everyone’s taste but she’s got that Janis Joplin thing with her voice that I love.
Nick Cave and The Bad Seeds new album ‘Dig Lazarus Dig is as good as you’d expect.
Both Band of Horses and Okkervil River have good albums worth checking out.
I couldn’t help but grab a copy of Ministry’s last ever album Cover-up especially for the ‘What a Wonderful World’ cover.
Finally, if I’m pimping music I am obliged to point out my friends The Good Die Young again.
Anyone got any recommendations for me and our readers?

Keming

Having spent many a minute trying to explain typographics concepts to people in the past, I now realise I could have saved a lot of time by referring to Keming. Designers will appreciate the brilliance of this. It certainly made my clay – I laughed my burn off!

After a New Job?

Thinking of new job titles can be tricky but you’d have thought that the person who came up with the role of Teenage Pregnancy Implementation Manager might have thought a little more about the implications of the title? Mind you, it would have to be better than being a BJ assistant (which also makes you wonder what on earth the poor ‘junior’ BJ Assistant has to do!

Adobe’s Magic Lens

Adobe have been playing with hardware as well as software recently. Check out this brief demo of the Magic Lens which combines a camera lens with software to shoot an object from multiple angles simultaneously. Using the software then lets you change the angle and depth of field within the software. Very funky indeed.

If you’re a Star Wars nerd then you’ve been waiting for the R2D2 Home Projection Unit for an awfully long time. Hopefully you’ll have saved up the required £2,000+ you’ll need for this surround sound projector with iPod dock by now but if it sounds expensive you might need to know the fact that the remote control is shaped like the Millennium Falcon.

Chat With Your Site’s Visitors Using Google Talk

Interesting new Google Chat feature. You can add a line of code to your site which will enable you to Chat With Your Site’s Visitors Using Google Talk. I can see this being very useful for web developers setting up a new site for a client and letting the client beta test a site giving instant feedback. The chats are one to one and private so it’s not like a public chatroom but you don’t have to have a google account to chat as a guest.

One More Funny Yo Gabba Gabba related link

How could I resist posting a link to this news report about the MEtropolitan Police’s job site being hacked with an image of Brobee from YGG along with the message “OFFICER BROBEE SEZ: OH HAI GUYS do joo wanna bes a policeman lulz? I see that teh so15 anti-terrorism anti-lulz police are hiring more incompentent nervy edgy sociopaths to make London’s streets just that little bit safer! OH LULZ.“.
Well, what do you expect when you run a site on Windows 2000? Do bear in mind that these one of the groups supporting the National ID card, I’m happy that my details will be 100% safe and secure and will have absolutely no way of being mis-used.

Sunday Drinker Wine Reviews

The team at Sunday Drinker do some fantastic wine reviews. These are very funny & in tribute I think my summer holiday this year will be to the French region of ‘Table’ from where the good all-round wine, vin de table comes from. For a lesson in how to drink wine much more eloquently than from out of the bottle, watch this review.
The only surprise is that these guys aren’t Australian.
*Edit* Lo and behold, the latest review is indeed from an Aussie.

Forumwarz

Forumwarz is like a D&D; RPG for the Something Awful or 4chan crowd. You log into an account and pretend to ‘pwn’ forums (unfortunately not real ones) by taking on the character of a camwh0re, emo kid or troll. Funny stuff and the tutorial is worth it for a laugh too as long as you’re not easily offended.
There’s a bonus interview with the creators of the game here.

Turning any monitor in to a 3D VR display

Johnny Lee has come up with some simple software to be used with a Nintendo Wiimote that will turn your tv into a 3D VR display and it’s way cool.
Skip forward to 4:00 to see it in action (but I wouldn’t, I’d watch the whole thing).

I Wanna Be The Guy

I Wanna be the Guy is subtitled ‘A Very Hard Game About a Boy and 8-bit Masochism’ which should give you a clue about it. It’s hard. Incredibly hard. Seriously – we’re talking life-suckingly hard and yet addictive. It’s very open-ended in design and my only complaint is that it’s an offline (ie: download) game and I’m kind of adverse to having to install things these days but this is worth it if you like your retro gaming and are up for a challenge.

Lochers clothes – dirty but charming

Girls, you should go and have a look at the Lochers collection of clothes. They look very girly and twee on first glance but each item has a rather unexpected twist embroidered on it. I’m absolutely in love with these clothes (but somehow I don’t think they’d suit me!).

Cornelius Rocks Out On Yo Gabba Gabba

I promise to shut up about Yo Gabba Gabba soon but not until after I’ve got you all to watch the utterly awesome, long time favourite at Prime Towers, Cornelius Rocking Out to ‘Count 5 or 6′.
While you’re at it, why not see Biz Markie doing Biz’s Beat of the Day, Elijah Woods teaching you how to Dance on drugs.
I might do one more post in a couple of days of the video mash-ups from YGG (Kanye West, Numa Numa etc) but then I’ll leave you alone.
