Music Round-up
Haven’t done a music update for a long time now so here’s what I’ve been listening to recently. I highly recommend all of the bands/albums below;
The Monks – a ridiculously ahead-of-their-time band formed in the mid-60′s by a bunch of demobbed US Marines based in Germany. You can get some stuff via torrents or check them out on youtube. There’s plenty of vids out there but for starters try Monk Chant or I Can’t Get Over You.
Next up, Norwegian lass Ida Maria who performed the astonishing Oh My God on Jools Holland last week and also has the great single Stella out. Her tunes might not be to everyone’s taste but she’s got that Janis Joplin thing with her voice that I love.
Nick Cave and The Bad Seeds new album ‘Dig Lazarus Dig is as good as you’d expect.
Both Band of Horses and Okkervil River have good albums worth checking out.
I couldn’t help but grab a copy of Ministry’s last ever album Cover-up especially for the ‘What a Wonderful World’ cover.
Finally, if I’m pimping music I am obliged to point out my friends The Good Die Young again.
Anyone got any recommendations for me and our readers?
while i’m on a roll check out the free releases of revolution void. again free and here http://www.revolutionvoid.com

am currently [right now] listening to tom vek – we have sound. a few years old but inspired electro post punk pop [as i can best describe it]. if you like this then you may like marc harps midnight album free here http://www.archive.org/details/markharp-12mid
