From my cold, dead hands

I notice that no-one has recently amended the wikipedia entry for ‘I’ll give you my gun when you take it from my cold, dead hands‘ with the information about who will actually do the deed.
see here if you don’t get this)

One Sentence

Complete stories in just one sentence. Reminds me of Hemingway’s self-professed greatest work – “For sale: baby shoes, never worn.”

Commute from hell

I suspect that UK train operators are seeding this video so that nobody ever complains again about how busy the trains are in this country.

I certainly couldn’t last all night long much like the singer in the Honest R&B; Song, 7 minutes is more like it, 4 if you move about.

A Non-Gamer (Aussie Girl) Plays TF2

I play a fair bit on Total Fortress 2 at the moment (come find me on the servers and say hi!) but even if you don’t you can’t fail to be charmed by this non-gaming Aussie Girl playing the game. I still do the apologising for killing people thing though!

“You’re going to have to fire the drummer”

“What? Why? He’s great.”

“Well, the songs are kind of sad, and you’re very dignified and compelling when you sing them, but sometimes the drummer, he…well, some of his actions…he can be just the tiniest bit distracting. There are certain things he does and they sort of…draw the eye. Haven’t you ever thought that?”

“Well, I never turn around so…”

“I think if you turned around, you’d be shocked.

BaTracer

I’ve been playing this game BaTracer.com for about a month and a half now and it is thoroughly addictive! It a racing manager game – kind of like a football manager but for cars. Basically you take a seat in a team and go up against another 20-30 other people from around the world for a full season which can last anything from 30 to 50 days. If you only join 1 season then all you need to do is spend 5 minutes a day setting up your car for the next event, however you can have several seasons on the go at the same time if you are really sad (like me). There are full seasons for F12008, 2007, 2002, 1986, Caterham7, Champcars, Le Mans style Endurance, A1GP etc – each with their own nuances. If you decide to sign up please mention me by name as I get extra kudos for referals, Ta! Also, look me up and we’ll set up a team together. See you on the track!

John Malkovich in the Tub

BAthing with Bierko is a chat show interview with John Malkovich…in the bath.
Best described by one of the comments; ‘This is either a compelling parody of false show business intimacy or the first example of cheaply lit celebrity gonzo aqua porn. Either way I refuse to pull up my pants until the next installment.‘.
Malkovich is one odd dude – I’ve seen him be hilariously funny and self-depreciating but also lose his temper and be extremely awkward. Maybe that just makes him a normal person instead of a ‘celebrity’?

The Elephant Song

When Kim, one of our most loyal and regular submitters, sent me the link for Eric Herman’s Elephant Song, I wasn’t expecting too much other than ridiculous amounts of cuteness. I was right on the cuteness but this goes further with the video made by his wife and 3 yr old daughter and the audio contributions of his 6yr old daughter. It’s very reminiscent of classic Sesame Street and there’s a charm that just can’t be denied.

Wee Beasties

Nathan Mazur makes paintings of wee beasties – very wee beasties – his art gallery exhibition features a series of canvases that are only 2″x2.75″ in size, which begs the question – how do you stretch your canvas with such a small frame?
His regular series of cartoons are also very good.
cheers Kim

Speaking of marketing fails and untruths, Pundo3000 has a great comparison between food packaging and what’s actually inside the box. It’s enough to put you off your lunch.

KillDozer

How many of you know the story of Marvin Heemeyer? He was the driver of the so-called ‘KillDozer‘. If you don’t know the story, Marvin came up with an inventive way of tackling a beef he had with some town planners and a concrete factory in Granby, Colorado – he turned a bulldozer into a fully armoured tank using a very clever system of reinforced concrete and went on an extended rampage flattening some very specific targets. He’s been planning his revenge for up to 2 yrs according to some reports.
There are lots of other videos available (and they almost all have incredibly bad music on them!). Here’s a slideshow of images from inside the ‘Dozer and here’s a concise pdf of the entire story (which should be your first and only click if you’re short of time)
thanks again KD

Al Jaffee – Mad Fold-ins

Many, many years ago when I was not quite a teenager, I used to buy MAD magazine imported from the States. One feature I loved, as it was so different to other magazines, was the Al Jaffee fold-in (2nd link is to an interactive fold-in viewer which is cool).
