Uno how silly this looks
We all know how dumb Segway users look and I can’t see the Uno coming off much better. It’s like a Segway crashed into a motorbike and despite it’s green credentials and interesting control system (like the Segway, it has only on/off controls – everything else is done by leaning), you’re still only capable of doing 15mph which isn’t fast enough to burn away at traffic lights to escape the mocking of small children.
Poiser Puzzle
Poiseris a hand-drawn Physics puzzle
game which will have you screaming at your computer.
Internet Party 2: An Intervention
You must have seen the original Internet Party – if not then go remedy that immediately. Once you’re up to date then you’re ready for MySpace’s Internet Intervention.
Gay Zombie
The dead have risen from their graves to take over civilization. There’s only one thing…all they want are the men.
(After the Bernard Righton post the other day, this makes up for the politically correctness).
The Revenge of Inanimate Objects
Inanimate objects can be extremely dangerous if mistreated as this clip of a broken skateboard shows.
cheers Steve
Geek Cool Tool
Just a little something to share with the geeks reading – if you’re regularly called out to fix friends computers then you’ll be interested in this handy gizmo. The Nexons USB 2.0 to SATA/IDE Drive Adaptor allows you to connect pretty much any hard drive (IDE or SATA, Laptop or desktop) to your pc via usb using one simple, cheap cable – no drivers and no expensive caddy. Do look around, I got one for only £6.99 from Amazon and it’s already proved it’s worth for troubleshooting dodgy drives and it’s now an essential part of my troubleshooting toolkit.
It’s a Sign!
I heart this sign.
The Birds vs Barbie
Exactly how awesome is the Alfred Hitchcock The Birds Barbie Doll? IMHO, very awesome.
High-Tech Pranks
‘Do No Evil’ might be Google’s motto but since they also used to have a corporate policy that said ‘we don’t do horoscopes, financial advice or chat’ when they clearly do have a chat product, it’s safe to say that ethics can be flexible. If you feel that your morals are similarly intransient then you could try one of these inspired High-Tech Pranks. You’ll probably get fired or at the very least, punched senseless but you’ll be able to giggle about it afterwards.
Bernard Righton
I think we’ve posted this classic stand-up before but I still rate it as one of the funniest routines ever. Ladies and gentlemen, please welcome the extraordinaryily Politically-Correct Bernard Righton onto the stage. Non-UK readers may need to know a little about the very unfunny ‘comedian’ Bernard Manning to put this into context.
Star Wars Dance Off
Another reader sub from Kim, our favourite US reader, with the very odd Star Wars Dance Off. It’s a cos-player’s wet dream. Oh and keep watching for the Thriller section – campest Vader ever!
Puzzle Farter
Just starting to catch up with some reader submissions that came in whilst I was away – ifrst up from the ever reliable Kim comes the ever-so classy (*ahem*) Puzzle Farter game. Fun but not exactly mature (that’s not a bad thing).
Kit Sat Nav
Get lost in style with the Night Rider Sat Nav system.
When social networks go bad
Ouch – it’s all gone a bit darkside @ faceparty
KITT GPS
“Hello Michael, where do you want to go?”, yes its the Knight Rider SatNav
Violent and Crazy
First off – apologies for linking to myspace – something I try not to do whenever possible.
Now, remember when Gnarls Barkley covered the Violent Femmes ‘Gone Daddy Gone’? Well, the Femmes have repaid the favour by covering ‘Crazy’. Not too shabby but mostly makes me move the old Femmes albums to the top of my playlist.
George Carlin is m*therf*cking dead
Sad to report that comedian George Carlin died yesterday. As T3m3r1ty, who informed me of this sad fact, succinctly put it – ‘no more Bill and Ted movies then’. If you haven’t heard of Carlin then he’s most famous for his FCC-baiting “Seven Words You Can Never Say on Television” (NSFW language – Duh!).
Pigs in Ears
Fancy some new headphones? Why not buy these ones and look like you have a pig being forced through your cranium?
Voices from Middle England
One of the benefits/major problems with the interwebs is that they give a voice to everyone. The genius website that is ifyoulikeitsomuchwhydontyougolivethere.com exists to gently mock these Daily Mail readers people simply by reprinting comments left by people for whom IQ means Ignorance Quotient.
cheers Al
Let them ieat cake
Those nice Microsoft IE developers sent the Mozilla team a cake congratulating them on the launch of Firefox 3. By the looks of it there’s enough E numbers in it to keep the Firefox team awake for the next few weeks sorting out the snags.
Away for a week
I’m off to Northern Ireland for a week so no posts from me in that time, but I can’t speak for any of our regular contributors. Normal service will be resumed next week and we’ve got a few new features planned to roll out soon (if I ever find time to do them).
Hulk Smash?
Hulk Smash? Not according to this review.
Unfortunate Advert Placement
A very bad (or good) example of an unfortunate advert placement from the UK tabloid The Daily Mirror.
Family Crest Maker
Ok, so they’re not exactly your traditional Family Crests but since it allowed me to make one with a Space Invader in it then I’m not complaining.
cheers Kim
Free Sweeties
Diesel Sweeties, the online comic strip has just released 10 ebooks (pdfs) of the first 2000 strips for free.
Which is nice.
Mod Chips Legal In the UK
Huzzah! Common sense prevails once more (hopefully) with the news that Mod Chips are legal in the UK according to a new ruling (in which it’s interesting to note that the all charges against the defendants were dropped but he also was awarded costs – so no doubt in the judge’s mind then).
More info here. I’ve modded virtually every console I’ve ever owned and it’s a pre-requisite that there is a mod chip available before I make a new purchase – this isn’t just about piracy, it’s about the right to tinker, learn and modify, the real meaning or the word ‘hack’ – most of my career is based on being self-taught by voiding warranties and exploring ways of using technologies beyond their original intent.
Nintendo Wall Decals
We’ve featured Blik a few times before on this site but I just had to show you their new Nintendo Wall stickers – you can recreate Donkey Kong or Super Mario on your bedroom walls – I would buy some fro my house but I’m only just getting round to putting up the Space Invader ones I got just before I moved house.
Toejam
What a wonderful video for Toejam by the BPA featuring the odd but excellent combination of David Byrne and Dizzee Rascal. (kinda NSFW, depending on your office).
Urban Prankster
Urban Prankster should need no explanation – we love this kind of thing.
