Doing a poll around this office, it seems anyone with Scottish blood in them loves Irn-Bru but pure-English people just don’t get the sugary goodness. The current advert, based on Rudyard Kipling’s ‘If’ is good but for more fun check out the older ads. It’s made from girders you know.

Idle Hands
I loved the Afghan Whigs and the Screaming Trees so it was a shoo-in that I’d like the Gutter Twins since it’s Greg Dulli and Mark Lanegan. Their new video for ‘Idle Hands’ is, erm, smashing.

The Quest For Every Beard Type
At the time of writing, Jon Dyer has managed 24 out of the 34 beard types in his Quest For Every Beard Type. He’s beating me by about 19 styles so far but then I wasn’t even trying. I’m currently sporting something between the Zappa and the Fu Manchu but I aspire to the Dali or the Super Mario, I’ll never complete the whole set though, I just can’t do mutton chops.

Speechless
I’m almost speechless after watching this video of a New Zealand politician defending his wearing of a KKK costume by wearing it yet again on national television, whilst protesting against National Hoodie Day and discussing the case with an African American Professor who says he left the US due to too much discrimination. Think that sounds bad? Watch it to the 3 minute mark for a bonus, new, higher level of offensiveness. It actually transcends bad taste and becomes very funny indeed in a quite surreal Monty Python way in my opinion.

The Bill O’Reilly meltdown video has been around for a while now and has entered history in the same way that Casey Kasem did many years ago (as superbly reworked by Negativland. I thought this unseen footage (spoo) of Bill O’Reilly’s Producer was particularly funny though (Caution: bad language throughout all the links above).

Web Developers will probably already be using Firebug for helping with testing of their pages and if you’re one of those people then you should also install the new YSlow for Firebug – it’s a very handy extension to help you pinpoint problems with your webpages and also helps to speed them up with suggestions specifically for your pages.
