Giant Lego man appears on beach
Our phones have been ringing off the hook since yesterday when one of our project managers spotted a 6ft tall lego man washed up on Brighton Beach
Lennart Green: Close-up King
I’ll admit that I haven’t watched all of this video yet but what I’ve seen of ”’Lennart Green””s close-up magic talk at TED on this video had me in stitches – he has a distinct air of the immortal ”’Tommy Cooper”’ to him.
The Unfinished Swan
Now that’s an innovative idea – a ”’FPS”’ game called The Unfinished Swan. Each level is either entirely black or white and you are armed with a gun that fires the opposite colour of paint. Watch the video to see the demo (it’s not due out until next year). It’s quite a headfcuk to see but I can’t wait to have a go myself.
Emmanuel Guibert – Drawing With Water
You’ve gotta watch this video of how Emmanuel Guibert makes his art for his graphic novels like the excellent Alan’s War using a cool water technique. The payoff at the end is simply stunning.
M4sturbating Tarzan Toy
The combination of the universal action for a w4nker and ‘that’ sound makes for a very disturbing Tarzan Toy – you know, for kids!
D’n'B Evangelists
An inspired and very funny idea – take a Drum and Bass track and put it over footage of Christian evangelists to make the D’n'B Christian Rave.
Rewind!
cheers Bear
Google’s Happy Toilets
The Google headquarters have some of those fancy Japanese toilets installed that have 14 Buttons to use. For some reason the ”’Ghostbusters”’ phrase about crossing the streams came to mind.
Music From Outer Space
I have an overwhelming urge to build another synth at the moment. I was supposed to be building a ”’theremin”’ but I just can’t find a decent enough spec for the little money I have available at the moment. I was, therefore, very happy to remember the Music From Outer Space site that has lots of analogue synth circuit boards and kits available. I’m toying with the idea of making a Weird Sound generator built into a flight case like this but building a speaker/amp into the lid for true portability.
Save the Sea Kittens
I’m sure their hearts are in the right place but honestly, do ”’PETA”’ actually expect to be taken seriously? Their latest campaign is to rebrand fish as Sea Kittens (no, really!) using the theory that people will be less likely to eat fish if they think of them as cute little kittens. Sorry, but this is a real catfish and they ain’t cute be any stretch of the imagination – in fact the whole sea kitten thing only makes me wonder if kittens taste as nice as fish.
Big Wet Pussy
Odin is a beautiful white Bengal tiger who lives at Six Flags Discovery zoo in San Francisco – unlike most big cat, this pussy loves getting wet and wild.
(Again, my sincere apologies in having to link to the revolting Daily Mail but I couldn’t find these stunning images anywhere else).
Swedish dildo downpour
Ice Hockey fans in Sweden recently delayed a match with a dildo downpour.
The Zimmers – Firestarter
We’ve featured ”’The Zimmers”’ a few times before, they’re the world’s oldest band and they ROCK. Here’s their version of Firestarter (and yes, I’m only posting this because it’s the only pop video I’ve seen this week that makes me feel young!
1 man, 64 video tracks, 2 and a half months = Thriller Acapella M
Some people have a life, others spend over 2 months making an acapella version of Thriller. Shame he can’t actually sing.
Game Hacking as a Wedding Proposal
Very impressive piece of ROM hacking of Chrono Trigger to include a wedding proposal to his girlfriend. Nerd.
DeTouch
I know we go on about retouching of pictures quite often but it’s a subject I’m fascinated with so you can imagine how impressed I was with DeTouch – a project which highlights the changes made to images. The simplest way to describe it is to dive in and have a play with the java applet (might take a short while to load up) and do bear in mind that there are multiple images per section so you’ve got a huge amount to play with.
Little Broccoli People
Hiding little people in broccoli packaging is a sure-fire way to freak out your customers. Good work.
On Reflection…on BoingBoing
Wow – thanks to Demos for pointing out that my photoshop disaster submission made it as far as Boing Boing. That makes it 5 direct and indirect links from Boing Boing this year – I’m flattered indeed.
Moving Faith
As loath as I am to linking to the abysmal Daily Fail, I thought this was worth it – the 1500ton church moved 248ft and rotated 90 degrees to make way for a new road.
(This also seems an appropriate time to mention ”’Richard Dawkins”’ and the British Humanist Association’s atheist bus slogan campaign which brightened up my day when I saw it).
The Story of a Boy, a Girl and a Universe
‘It’s a big, sprawling space saga of rebellion and romance’. The original Star Wars: Episode IV Movie Trailer looks so cute and naive now. I loved the ‘from director of ”’American Graffiti”” quote too – as well-known as that movie is, it’s not what you think of when you hear ”’George Lucas”’.
Extreme Off-Roading
No, not these guys, these are the real Extreme Off-Roaders. Video here for that First Person perspective.
cheers Steve.
Scientists try to make cow farts more like Kangaroo toots
After that headline I really don’t feel the need to write any more about this Quest to make cattle fart like marsupials. Well, other than to say that mrs grom suggested that I volunteer for human trials.
On reflection, perhaps not
Yay us! We made that ever-excellent PhotoshopDisasters blog with my Marie Claire submission (the scan doesn’t do it justice – it looks even worse in real life).
The Scunthorpe Problem
If you can read this then you’ve cleared you’re probably not affected by the Scunthorpe Problem. It’s an old problem but this is still an article full of win.
Parental Advisory Manual
”’Natasha Desborough”’ is an occasional radio DJ here in the UK who seems to be currently off the air so I went looking to see what she’s doing. I’m guessing that one option would be to make a print copy of her Parental Advisory Manual. Many parents will like the sections of Substitute names for willies and fannies (not the US fanny – the UK fanny – see the bottom of this page for clarification). I was quite disturbed to hear mrs grom giggling whilst reading the ”’CBeebies”’ Sex Fantasies section.
Hand-Made Lamborghini
Lots of people saw ”’The Cannonball Run”’ and thought it was cool but how many people saw it and thought ‘Hmm, I like that Lamborghini Countach – I think I’ll build my own’. Well, Kem Imhoff did and after 10 yrs of building the entire thing from scratch, and having to knock down a wall of his house to get it out, it’s now finished.
It’s Not Gay if
Remember kids, It’s not gay if…
80′s Music Videos
I just know I’m gonna regret posting this – especially with the ribbing I got the other day at work for the similarity between my hair and the ”’Flock of Seagulls”” infamous ‘hair-do’ but this site is a great resource of 80′s Music Videos – it’s not just the pop pap, the first two vids I clicked on were ”’Acccept””s ‘Balls to the Wall’ and ”’Manowar””s ‘Blow Your Speakers’ which is much sadder than having my current throwback haircut. Oh and if anyone who runs this site ever reads this – stop calling them ‘The English Beat’ – they’re ‘The Beat‘
*Edit* Wow – they even have ”’The Chameleons”’ – Don’t Fall – choon!
