Ninjas vs Pirate
Ninjas Protest Pirate Festival – hilarity ensues. (bad language at the very end).
Party like it’s 1980
Every kid wanted a Speak and Spell for Xmas in 1980, myself included, and now you can have a flash version for free.
Achievement Unlocked
I am proud> ashamed to say that I’m up to 98 out of 100 achievements into Achievement Unlocked – it’s very addictive and the most annoying thing is that if I manage to get the Graveyard achievement then I automatically get the final achievement (which is ‘Get 99 Achievements’ – D’oh!)
(I don’t think I’ve ever typed the word achievement so many times in one day!)
Nigella’s XXXmas
Oh dear, oh dear – we’ve long suspected ”’Nigella Lawson”’ of being a filthy minx but CassetteBoy (another gromblog regular) have proved it with his Nigella’s XXXmas mash-up (audio is VNSFW!).
11 Words That Sound Offensive, But Aren’t
11 Words That Sound Offensive but aren’t.
That’s not a Moustache…
…this is a moustache. (Some people take ”’Movember”’ too seriously by far).
All the tenants I interview aren’t good enough
Craigslist attracts kooks and freaks – we all know that but this landlord is one of the most delusional I’ve come across so far. Keep reading as it just keeps getting better worse. I wonder how much of this would stand up in a court of law. by the time I got to the exercise yard stuff at the bottom I was wondering if they realise that you’d have more rights in a prison cell!
Left 4k Dead
We’ve posted about the Java 4k competition for the last few years and this year, one entry in particular really appealed to me = Left 4k Dead is, like all of the entries, less than 4 kilobytes in program length but this game has the bonus of featuring zombies and the flashlight feel is actually very reminiscent of L4D (which I’m still in love with, buy it for yourself for Xmas and find me online).
Baby Adolf’s Birthday Cake
I guess most people will already have heard about the family who named their kids such charmingly inoffensive names as Adolf Hitler Campbell and JoyceLynn Aryan Nation Campbell and were then shocked and appalled when a shop wouldn’t make a birthday cake with lil’ Adolf’s name on it. Three comments strike me – ‘It’s not fair to my children. How can a name be offensive?’, ‘The parents insist they are not racist, although they don’t believe in mingling the races’ and my favourite, the old standby ‘This is America, they say it’s free, you have the right to name your child whatever you want to name your child’ – in response to the last one, they seem to fail to realise that the shop has just as much right to refuse to serve the family – that’s freedom folks.
cheers big grom
The Perfumed Garden Returns
I was very pleased to notice that The Perfumed Garden ”’John Peel”’ session blog has returned and now has a forum for requests. If you are into all thing Peel then you should also check out the very good Fades in Slowly blog.
Burn-E’s Back
I’ve become quite a fan of ”’Wall-E”’ – it kinda snuck up on me without me realising but it’s a grower that movie I tells ya. Anyway, I posted about the DVD extra ”’Burn-E”’ before but it was taken down almost immediately. It’s back up again here in a lower quality but still well worth watching.
The Pirate Bay Video Converter
Looking for a simple way to convert videos so that you can watch them on your phone, iPod or other mobile device? Try the new, free ViO Video MobileConverter courtesy of those kind gents at ”’the Pirate Bay”’.
Identifive
Identifive is a fun little spot the difference game to advertise Adobe’s Photoshop Express.
Whodunnit – An Observance Test
Remember this clever advert? Transport for London have made a follow-up, this time it’s a Whodunnit.
Duke Nukem Forever update
Yep, I know it seems like a joke saying that there are new images of Duke Nukem Forever but apparently these are them. If they do ever get round to releasing ”’Duke Nukem Forever”’ I hope that not only is it actually any good but that they also have the sense to release it on April 1st.
100 top sites for the year ahead
UK newspaper the Guardian has published a very respectable attempt at the 100 top sites for the year ahead. Worth a look through although I still don’t get the Twitter bias – I’m sure no-one is interested in hearing about how tired I am every 2 hours!
Wierd-Ass Site
This is a really. really unusual site design!
Men only
Gents, Stuck for a Christmas present for the missus? Here are a couple of great ideas – you could buy her a Washing Machine or use the LaSenza Men’s Buying Guide (both NSFW).
Thank me later (once you’ve washed your hands).
Zero Punctuation on Sonic Unleashed
Ben “Yahtzee” Croshaw, aka Zero Punctuation does not like Sonic Unleashed.
(Everyone should already be aware of his reviews but if you’re a newb to him then go here and be prepared to be asked why you’re in hysterics by your colleagues in the office (and DO wear headphones!)).
The Bloody Olive
You’ve got to watch the Bloody Olive.
The classic Christmas short film noir with inevitable twists and turns. Mylene and Werner are going to make their flat up for Christmas. Then Sam comes with a bottle of Veuve Cliquot. Sam tells Werner that he knows Werner has stolen money at work. Werner murders Sam. Soon afterwards, Sam is alive again and it looks as if somebody else would have to die. Who’s fooling who? Winner of the Grand Prix at Clermont-Ferrand International Short Film Festival.
It’s got more twists than a bag of snakes in a cement mixer
Thanks Hawk
The Sock and Awe Bandwagon
Hey everybody, let’s jump on the Sock and Awe bandwagon. Spot your facourites Interweb memes.
Glen and Mic
There’s something utterly irresistible about seeing the much-missed ”’Mic Christopher”’ busking with the OSCAR winning ”’Glen Hansard”’ in Grafton St, Dublin covering Dylan’s ”’You Ain’t Goin’ Nowhere”’. I love the way they seem oblivious to everyone else around them and deliver such a powerful and yet laidback performance.
*Edit* Sorry, it’s only just occurred to me that a lot of people won’t have heard of ”’Mic Christopher”’. Click on his name and look him up on Wikipedia or Youtube – it’s worth it, he was a very talented musician who sadly died after an accidental fall in 2001. There’s a tribute video here too.
Goat5e your loved ones this christmas
Does this Inspired Ring remind you of anything?
Squirrel Snappers
Squirrels have been making themselves populars on teh interwebs recently. Steve sent me a link to photographing squirrels and I’ve noticed a lot of pictures like this army squirrel, newton’s squirrels and a whole variety of other images which were grabbed from here.
YouTubage
Recently I pondered whether to stop posting youtube links as I find it a bit lazy and they work much better embedded in the page but since we have a no graphics rule, it would be a touch incongruous. I decided against it but I think I’ll try to do more round-ups to collect them into single posts. This is the first one and these are all reader submissions from Bad Altitude – cheers dude!
Impossible piggy backflip
Racecar Tire (would make an interesting insurance claim!)
Pants too low?
Urban Projections
Japanese robotic dancers – old skool!

The Benny Hillifier
It’s long been established that adding the ”’Benny Hill”’ ”’Yakety Sax”’ music to any video instantly makes the video funny. Try the Benny Hillifier on your favourite youtube videos to prove it yourself.
Fimo Fractals
Since I was browsing the ever excellent Evil Mad Scientist Laboratories today (see my earlier plea for help) I was blown away by their Iterative Algorithmic Plastic Sculpture aka Fimo Fractals. So easy and yet very cool – I might have to dig out my Fimo and make these with the kids over Xmas. Now, how to do the ”’Julia set”’ or the ”’Mandelbrot set”’?
When in Ancient Rome…
Ooh, very nice, Google Earth have added a full 3D version of Ancient Rome to their collection.
