Star Wars Twatters

What happens when Darth Vader gets on Twitter? “I feel a tremor in the Force. No, actually it was just my special lunch burrito. My bad.”
What happens when R2D2 gets on Twitter? *doot deet dedededededededede…*blork* *deet deet deet doot*
Oh jeez – shoot me now.

If Atheists Ruled the World

We’ve posted the highly amusing Fundamentalists say the darndest things site before but if you’re too lazy to read then check out the video of If Atheists Ruled the World featuring rational people reading out comments from Fundamentalist/Creationist websites.

Family Guy

Last week’s Family Guy cracked me up – this one has the cast of Star Trek Next Generation. Patrick Stewart trying to get Stewie to say ‘Wil Wheaton‘ made me giggle a little too much.

Radiology Art is a collection of CT scans of a bunch of toys and dolls – the Russian Dolls are particularly cool.

Stand By Me

Playing for Change is a collection of musicians and artists from all over the globe. The first fruits of their work is this version of Stand By Me created by taking recordings of musicians as the recording travelled over the world adding layers at each session. ‘Tis a thing of beauty.

The Wet Spot

Went to the ever excellent, best night out in Leeds again on Saturday – The Wet Spot is a burlesque/cabaret night that runs every 3 months or so. Swing/Jive/Rock and Roll music and some superb acts, this time including Frank Sanazi a Frank Sinatra/Hitler un-easy listening tribute(?) act who was surprisingly hilarious, if not very PC, Chris Cross a young but savvy comedian/contortionist and escapologist who I suspect will start to pop up on tv very soon and my favourite (as always,) Anna Fur Laxis who did a jaw-dropping new good/evil Bettie Page routine. Other acts included Scarlett Fever, Honey Lulu and local new girl ‘Nelly Plum’. Many thanks as always to our hostess with the mostess Ryvita Von Cheese – tickets are already on sale for the next one in June and they’re selling out quickly.

Little Red Riding Hood Re-imagined

Tomas Nilsson had a school project to reinterpret Little Red Riding Hood – He came up with the music video Slagsmålsklubben which is one of the best things I’ve seen all year.

Trulli Penalised – Hamilton Third

Just in case anyone else was watching the Grand Prix live at the weekend and hasn’t heard yet, Trulli was penalised for re-taking Hamilton after he spun in the final laps yesterday so now Hamilton was third meaning British teams in the top three and 2 out of the 3 drivers British too. Congratulations also to Sebastien Buemi for getting 2 points in his first ever race.

Container Living

I’ve always liked the idea of using shipping containers as living spaces so I was interested to see these twelve amazing shipping container houses. I’d certainly recommend checking out London’s Container City if you’re ever in the area.

Cat Shit One

I’m currently recovering from virtual Gulf War Syndrome having spent 3 days completing Call of Duty – Modern Warfare and watching the excellent Generation Kill in breaks, so this trailer for Cat Shit One really hit the mark. So what we have is a CGI animated story following bunch of hard ass marine rabbits running havoc on Ripped fuel and laying waste to the bunny Haji. Really bad stuff going on down in this film – I really can’t wait to watch it.

The Lloyds Bank Turd

I love coincidences. I happened to mention the Lloyds Bank coprolite aka the ‘Lloyds turd‘ today saying that it would have made an apt bankers mascot in the current climate and whilst searching for it, today’s Popbitch newsletter dropped into my inbox mentioning the very faeces in question!

Barnumville

Photographer Matt Hoyle was lucky enough to get some of the most interesting sideshow performers and characters still working in the industry to his NY Studio. Matt gave them a slightly vintage look of the 1940’s era when the so-called “Freak Shows” were popular forms of entertainment. Over three weeks he photographed 30 people including a giant, little people, a fat lady, sword swallowers, knife throwers, human blockheads, lobster clawed man, a serpent lady and more!
Which reminds me, I was stopped in the street the other day and asked if I was Jim Rose – that’s the second time in 3 months! I must change my facial hair – this is becoming silly – he’s a good 16 years older than me!
thanks Kim

Frank Zappa at 22

Wow, this is some cool footage, ”’Frank Zappa”’ on the ”’Steve Allen”’ show way back in 1963 playing a bicycle aged 22 (Frank, not the bike). It’s quite funny stuff, Steve Allen keeps trying to take the mickey but Frank gives as good as he gets. Parts 2, 3 & 4. If that’s not far out enough for you then have a bonus clip of Frank in one of my favourite movies Head which I recommend that everyone checks out.

Modern Ventiloquists

There’s a good little video that’s been bouncing around the interwebs over the last few days of ”’Nina Conti”’ (that’s ”’Tom Conti””s daughter UK readers) doing her ventriloquist act from a few years ago but it did remind me how much I loved ”’David Strassman””s Ted E Bare – haven’t thought about Strassman for years but I instantly remembered the entire routine I first saw him do back in 1996.

Nemesis

Nemesis is a short film by Leonard Scarlow about an ordinary man trying to discover his hidden superpowers — because deep down inside of himself, he knows that he was meant to be a superhero. To try to find out what his superpower is, he advertises for an arch-enemy. It’s a really nice little movie and it’s licensed under a Creative Commons license.
thanks again Kim

Team Hoyt

OK, we’re normally a pretty sarcastic bunch at Prime Towers but sometimes even our hardened heartstrings can get tugged like other people’s. Dick and Rick Hoyt are a father-son team who have run 60 marathons (25 of them the Boston Marathon), 6 Ironman Triathlons (composed of 2.4 mile swim, followed by a 116 mile bike ride and then a 26 mile maraton), and other races for a total of nearly 1000 events. Rick has cerebral palsy, so his dad pushes him in a wheelchair and pulls him in a raft through the water. Yes, it’s soppy crap but you can’t deny the dedication and tenacity of Team Hoyt
