Neat ad for haemorrhoid cream
Cunning use of a centrefold staple to highlight the discomfort of piles.
Muppet metal
BYNHO
I don’t recall being in this chatroom but I swear I’ve had this conversation with Solomon and Carloz many, many times.
It doesn’t get geekier than this
Honestly, outputting the contents of your hard drive to your speakers has to be one of the simplest and geekiest things I’ve ever heard of. A simple command and ambient/industrial music/noise is there for the sampling.
this one’s specifically for you DanP
Robbery Perks
I guess if you’re going to get caught robbing a hairdressers then there are worse punishments – he got some free little blue pills, and a pair of jeans out of it after all.
Scanwiches
You should be able to work out what the Scanwiches site is all about pretty quickly.
Magic Lasers – Pew Pew
These Magic Lasers are full of joy courtesy of Jason Latimer.
The Tweetting Fart Chair
If you were waiting to find out what exciting and innovative things people would create with Twitter then check ou the chair that tweets youu farts and realise that you’ll have to wait a wee bit longer.
What an Entrance, What a Guy
I’ll admit that I’ve only got about 2:30 into this video before I realised that I had to blog it – Peter O’Toole’s entrance onto the Letterman show is just stupenduous. Beer-drinking camels feature heavily.
Video Games Acted Out in Real Life
Some goodies in this collection of Clips of Video Games Acted Out in Real Life (some stinkers too) but none as awesome (nor illegal) as the classic French Real Life Super Mario Kart.
When Factories Strike Back
This has to be the The Greatest Workplace Safety Video Ever – it’s certainly the goriest and most graphic (seriously – don’t watch it if you’re squeamish) but is still hilarious. It’s like something you’d expect Quentin Tarantino to have made whilst at film school. I’d even go as far as saying that it’s better than the classic German forklift safety video we featured several years ago except that the American one doesn’t have a the ‘riding off into the sunset’ ending of the german one.
Krazy Katana Kutz
Isao Machii is a Modern samurai – check out the mind blowing skills – slicing a pea pod in half lengthways with one strokeis extraordinarily impressive but a plastic bullet? Just wow.
Funnel of Love
Speaking of WFMU here’s a prime example of what’s so good about it – Electric Roulette picked up their post about playing ”’Wanda Jackson””s Funnel of Love at 33 1/3 instead of the usual 45rpm and it turns into a swampy creepy tune that’s every bit as good, if not better, than the original.
Free Music Archive
I’ve made a habit of stopping by the blog of radio station WFMU quite regularly as they feature a very, very wide range of music but also because they seem to be fans and ‘get’ music and technology. To prove this point – they’ve just into beta with the Free Music Archive – 5000 tracks so far but many more to come and it’s worth a look even to see the genre classifications (drone, glitch, historic, sludge, comedy etc).
grom’s Introduction to Northern Soul
8tracks is a similar service to the old muxtape site. I’m testing it out with a quick introduction to Northern Soul

Steam Wars
Lego, light sabers, steampunk – all elements of nerdvana – you can mix them in any way you want. Steampunk/lego/ Star Wars or lego steampunk or girls getting nekkid with light sabers – take your pick.

Ubuntu Satanic Edition
There really is a version of Linux for everyone! Ubuntu Satanic Edition is now at version 666.5 (Inverted Ibex) and, dodgy heavy metal/religious overtones aside, looks actually quite swish – perfect for the 14 yr old bedroom hacker before he goes postal at his school! If that’s too much for you then you could get the Ubuntu Christian edition or the Ubuntu Muslim edition – I’m still not sure why an Operating System needs a religion though.
Faraday Fun
Isn’t this version of the Imperial March just one of the best things ever? A huge ”’tesla coil”’ and a bloke in a ”’Faraday suit”’ playing a theme from ”’Star Wars”’ – pure geek wee.
ToneMachine
Remember the stupendous Hobnox Audiotool? It was one of the most popular links we posted last year. Well, Andre Michelle has created the (very ”’tenori-on”’-likeToneMatrix tool based on the hobnox code. It’s great.
(I know I’ve been quiet on the posting front – new puppy at home and computer issues at work – normal service is starting to resume)
Flying Like an Eagle
If you want to know what people mean when they say Fly like an eagle then check this absolutely stunning video out – I’ve done a lot of hawk flying and love every second of it but I’ve always wondered what it’s like from teh bird’s point of view. This guy attached a video camera to a bird and set it off. Beautiful. Check out about 3:10 as it comes back to him.
Tomb Runner
This short Tomb Runner spoof should have been dreadful except that it’s actually funny, spot on (especially the running towards the camera bit) and not only is her voice tres sexy, so’s the rest of her!
Snatch Wars
Mashup ”’Snatch”’ with ”’Star Wars”’ and you get Snatch Wars. (NSFW language)
cheers Bear
30 More Illustrator Tutorial;s
Just to remind myself – here’s 30 more Illustrator Tutorials for me to work through (including the old gang of ninjas favourite again).
Tw*tter fun
Inspired by a friends attempt at creating his own new social networking site, I created my own version
(I wonder if many people will get this?)
Vinyl Recorder
I was quite surprised to see that it’s actually quite easy these days to make your own vinyl using vinyl recorder. It’s not cheap but it’s nothing like as expensive as you’d think. Dubplatetastic!
Ben Roche – Molecular Gastronomer
Ben Roche is a very, very young pastry chef in Chicago, enjoy his Taste3 Conference presentation. He’s also a heck of a lot more photogenic than ”’Heston Blumenthal”’ and just as passionate about his molecular gastronomy.
Tiger Mike Memos
Edward Mike Davis ran the Tiger Oil company back in the 70′s – the Tiger Mike Memos to his employees make classic reading – he sounds like the perfect boss.
Choice quotes; “I am not fond of hippies, long-hairs, dope fiends or alcoholics“, “Do not speak to me when you see me. If I want to speak to you, I will do so. I want to save my throat. I don’t want to ruin it by saying hello to all of you sons-of bitches” and the always popular “there will be no more birthday celebrations, birthday cakes, levity or celebrations of any kind within the office“
