Buy Bueller’s Buddy’s Building
‘You killed the car’. It wasn’t just the car that got killed in ”’Ferris Bueller’s Day Off”’, the amazing house his friend Cameron lived in suffered from a slight broken window. You can now get your own slice of the 80′s by buying that house for a mere $2.3m. Just be careful how you park the Ferrari.
ZX81 web server
Anyone who goes to the effort of making a ZX81 web server should be awarded a retro-god medal for services to humanity.
Do You Like Tennis?
Do you like tennis? This image is like streaming tennis for me on this cruddy connection.
Google Wave
I can’t check it out on this connection but from what I’ve managed to catch so far, Google Wave looks like an interesting new development – a mash-up with email, im, photos and many other forms of communications together.
If that’s not enough google goodness for you, they’ve just released an api for google chat which will allow you to develop realtime games with other users – could be put to some good use
Retro Heaven
I’m sure we’ve posted this before but it’s worth me putting up with the neolithic web connection I’m stuck with in Ireland to remind you that you can get some pure retro gaming heaven with ZXSpectrum.net. Normal service will resume in the next few days and thanks to Carloz for filling in with some excellent posts.
inFAMOUS minigame
Nice mouse tracking game
Mindless RepliCat is a pretty good extension of the mouse drags object style game. If you like that then you might also like drag the dot.
Living statue sport
Now it’s officially summer every pri.me reader needs to learn this simple and efficient technique of screwing up any form of street performance.
Meme Scenery
Excuses, Excuses
Posts will be intermittent or non-existent for the next few days as I’m stuck in Northern Ireland with only potato powered interwebs and I’ll be pretty busy when I get back as I had a car crash on Friday on my way home from work so I’ve got a lot of paperwork to sort out – no big deal, someone pulled across 3 lanes of traffic into the side of me and forced me onto the kerb so the car’s out of action but I’m absolutely fine – thanks for asking
Normal service will, hopefully, resume next week.
Tweleted:
Our old friend Tom Scott (he of pineapple fingerprint removal failure and International Talk Like a Pirate Day amongst many other ventures) has a new gizmo – Tweleted – which allows you to recover deleted Twitter messages – it’s very funky and great for catching out people who’ve had second thoughts about what they tweeted. You’ll probably be able to meet Tom if you head to Leeds BarCamp at the end of this month (hint, hint).
Redesigning the Stop Sign
If you’ve ever had to work to a client brief then this spoof of Redesigning the Stop Sign will be painfully familiar.
On the Move
Check out this fantasatic ”’Heath Robinson”’/”’Rude Goldberg”’ kinetic sculpture from the Science Museum entitled On the Move – it’s way more complex that most of the ones you’ll have seen before and uses an huge amount of different energy sources as well as a few (bad) jokes (poo hitting the fan?!). Unfortunately, as with many of these videos you can’t always make out what is happening – I’d love a director’s commentary voiceover to get the full effect.
How to Use Twitter for Marketing and PR
Here’s a really useful website that tells you everything you need to know about How to Use Twitter for Marketing and PR. Everyone should go and have a look and heed their advice.
The Shark Attack Wetsuit
Steve points me to these very freaky Fake Shark Attack Wetsuits. If that’s not to your taste you can get a rust special or how about an anatomical one – ideal for that next triathlon.
Partial Milestone
I should probably mention that we passed the 7,000 post pseudo-quasi-milestone a couple of weeks ago. Go us!
Here’s to the next few thousand and please keep on sending links, suggestions, comments, abuse and freebies – we love any form of feedback apart from poo in boxes.
Making Musical Sparks
No, not those Sparks, I’m on about the infamous singing Tesla Coils. You can now pretend you’ve got your own by using the online Tesla Coil Emulator.
Color Me Suprised
I think I’ve previously posted these videos of Gabe from PennyArcade inking some strips but here’s a handy inking tutorial courtesy of nedroid.
Slo-Mo Skateboard
1000 frame/sec footage of a couple of skate moves – quite surprising.
Nails
You might remember Han Hoogerbrugge as the guy who managed to make some cool art using animated gifs back in the day. Well this year he made the Love Etc video for the Pet Shop boys and his latest site ‘Nails’ features 27 interactive toys and is rather good.
Synth Cakes
You can’t get much nerdier than a Synth Cakes on your birthday!
High-Speed Camerage
Wired have a good article on High-Speed Cameras and I particularly liked the tattoo video which is a refreshing change to the usual balloon popping and gun shot videos.
Can You Hold It?
You know how it is, you’re watching a program or a movie and you’re busting for a toilet break but don’t want to miss anything. Simply go to RunPee and find out when you can safely go and what you’ll miss when you’re away.
What Song is This?
I do love these backwards songs that seem to be all over youtube at the moment. This one is Part 4 of a ‘What Song is This’ series.
Miso – open font
MISO is a lovely Opentype font, free for all.
Mind you Own Beeswax
I’ve got a lot of interest in beekeeping although I still haven’t found a way of convincing the neighbours that it’s a good idea. I was surprised to heear from a very experienced beekeeper that you could make custom shapes of honeycomb and he showed me an old classic done in a belljar. These guys take beeswax art and design to another level. Beautiful.
One Eyed Monster
I’ve just watched the trailer for the new movie One Eyed Monster which I can only presume is going straight to dvd. It stars ”’Amber Benson”’ aka Tara from Buffy the Vampire Slayer but the eponymous star of the movie is ”’Ron Jeremy””s member which is taken over by an alien , detaches after Ron is killed and goes on a rampage. Looks like a good return to the straight to video shock horror comedies from the 80′s so grab a beer, and some popcorn and settles down for a Friday night to enjoy it.
Photoshop Hero
Love the new Penny Arcade Photoshop Hero hoodies. Must start saving pennies.
