I’ve committed Genocide
Oops! According to a quick comparison of headlines in this screenshot, I have committed crimes equivalent to mass genocide – I’ve probably wiped out the entire population of the planet by now. Please don’t tell my mum – she’ll be so disappointed in her son.
My Other Car is Much The Same as This One
‘Yes, my child may be on board, but I recognize that you are already driving as safely as can be expected, even if only to protect yourself.’ This and other Nuanced, Ambivalent, or Guarded Bumper Stickers are much more to my taste than the usual fare.
Recycling Cassette Tapes
Now this is how to recycle your cassette tapes.
Floyd on foo
I posted a new mix for this sunny weekend on Highway to Helvetica this morning – enjoy
Opera go darkside
This weird Opera advert reminds me of the tv ads that reminded me not to play in grain silos or to hook footballs out of murky ponds whilst hanging onto an obviously rotten branch. As someone comments, their new logo has an uncanny resemblance to 666.
I stole your images and now I’m suing you
It’s people like this who are reducing the amount of images used on the internet!
Monks with Tubas on Segways with their Heads on Fire
This video clip needs no other description than the facts. Monks on ”’Segway”’s playing tubas and banjos with fire on their heads playing ”’Philip Glass”’. Life and the internet doesn’t get much better than this – Rejoice!
In space no one can deny you planning permission
It seems a bit over the top to get into the movie business to indulge a hobby, but apparently George Lucas is a bit of an amateur architect and designed some of the structures in Star Wars himself. Now apart from a couple of accusations of plagiarism, the boys and girls at Architects Journal generally give his work the thumbs up.
Theremin controlled Mario
Awesome hack! Mario controlled by a Theremin!! Exclamation!!!
Louis Vuitton bin bag
It’s the latest ‘must have’ accessory for the fans of disposable couture.
Brooklyn Superhero Supply Company
Just incase you ever need a gallon of gravity or a forcefield generator, bookmark this site today.
Heavy Metal band name map
A very useful visualisation diagram for helping to work out what you’re going to call your next rock band.
Shepard at work
I’m a huge fan of Shepard Fairey so when I went to see his exhibition in London last year I was really blown away by how amazing his originals are in comparison to his production line screenprints. This video of the man at work goes someway to showing the amount of detail that goes into producing his canvases.
I Can Haz a Cheeseburger in a Can
I wouldn’t eat a Cheeseburger in a Can but these guys did. Yeuch.
The Simpsons Minus The Simpsons
Inspired by Garfield Minus Garfield, Román Cortés edited every frame of the intro of The Simpsons, deleting every character of the family. He did it in Photoshop using about 1337 frames. (Coincidence or deliberate? Doesn’t matter, it’s obsessive and cool.
AudioBooTH meets Tara Busch
My friend Colt has a great blog post up showing analogue synth guru Tara Busch‘s process of remixing Bat for Lashes’ ‘Daniel’. The post is a lovely mash-up of spoken commentary using AudioBoo and youtube videos to give a full multimedia walkthrough of a remix.
Little Wheel
The flash game Little Wheel looks sumptuous – I haven’t had much time to play it yet but it looks like a great little puzzler.
Stop Motion Post-Its
Another great stop-motion video using post-it notes called Deadline.
Double Dutching
Not since Malcolm McLaren’s Double Dutch have I got excited about, let alone even thought about skipping but check out this stunning half time show – it’s just superb.
Dr. Ham’s Aromatic Invigorator
Dr. Ham’s Aromatic Invigorator, Wolcott’s Instant Pain Annihilator and Dalley’s Magical Pain Extractor are just some of the lesser known examples of quackery in these Old School ‘Medicine’ Ads most of which contain heroin, cocaine, marijuana and plenty of other favourites – there’s even the classic coca cola ‘magic ingredients’ of wine and cocaine.
Lenore – the animation
I know Solomon has posted a load of ”’Lenore”’ links before but I’m not sure if he posted the Lenore cartoon. Even if he did, it’s worth posting again.
Pixar’s Partly CLoudy Pixar Short Animation – Partly Cloudy
I believe that Partly Cloudy is a short that’s being played before Pixar’s new ”’Up”’ movie. This is being hosted on a Russian knock-off of Youtube so is less likely to go down due to copyright complaints but you know how litigious Disney are so watch it quick.
Goodbye, wondrous femininity
The full quote that the title is taken from is ‘Weep, you girls. My penis has given you up. Now it penetrates men’s behinds. Goodbye, wondrous femininity!’ and is one of the fantastic pieces of Graffiti from Pompeii. I used to love doing latin at school (I know, I’m weird like that) and remember one of my teachers used to get very flustered when he had to explain what phrases like this meant. The Romans really were a filthy bunch.
A New Type of Cloud
Ok, so it’s not that the sky has starting forming new types of clouds, it’s just that there’s a new definition and name for an existing type – it just doesn’t sound very sexy put that way but the Asperatus looks cool and sounds half like a vegetable that makes your wee smell and a spell from Harry Potter.
cheers Steve
Lobster claw game
An arcade inspired machine to catch fresh lobsters in a restaurant.
Goths Die in Hot Cars
Dedicating your life to wearing nothing but black means that people can set up blogs like Goths In Hot Weather – very funny.
Old Jews Telling Jokes
Loving the Old Jews Telling Jokes site – must be a big hit in Florida.
Ha Ha Ha Ha
Need to take a breath. Ok, better now – ha ha ha ha ha ha ha.
Audio Waveform Jewelry
The idea of Audio Waveform Jewelry is nothing new, we’ve posted a few examples previously but I am a sucker for this kind of thing and I like these ones.
