STOP! Hammertime!
I love pointless Firefox add-ons and replacing the usual Firefox Stop button with the STOP! Hammertime! one is a must.
Fresh Balls
The internet has another answer to a question I didn’t know needed answering. Fresh Balls is a new product to keep your man sac dry and your conkers clean or put plainly, your testicles unsweaty. Ok then.
Cartoon Brew
Why have I never found Cartoon Brew before? It’s a fantastic blog that covers anything animation themed. From the obvious Disney & Warner Bros to old gems and new things like the forthcoming ”’Ricky Gervais”’ shorts based on his podcasts. I could spend hoursdays reading through this site.
Malmsteem shreds
I know this is way old and we already posted Ojala’s Steve Vai and Santana videos, but I’d never seen the Yngwei Malmsteem shreds video until today, and it’s genius. Ojala actually suspects that it was Mr Malmsteen who complained to YouTube and got his account blocked, but the nice people at Wired posted the collection here. I particularly love the way Yngwei seems to be having some nasal problems through the performance.
L4D2 Very, Very Cool Easter Egg
Computer game fans and zombie fans alike will love the forthcoming Left 4 Dead 2 game. I loved the original and have been playing the new demo for a few days now – I highly recommend checking it out. One extremely cool easter egg has been found in the demo which I just adore. ”’Jonathan Coulton”’ is well known by gamers, mainly for his cult song Still Alive (aka The Cake is a Lie) from Portal and he’s contributed a song to L4D2 called Re: Your Brains. You trigger the song by activating a jukebox in the demo. Not only is it a really funny song about zombies but the best bit is when the chorus kicks in with the line ‘Here’s an FYI, you’re all going to die. Screaming all we want to do is eat your brains‘, a fullscale zombie attack is triggered unleashing all-out mayhem. Superb!
The Beatles Never Broke Up…
It’s a familiar story – guy chases his dog in the desert, trips on a rabbit hole, wakes up in a parallel universe where the Beatles Never Broke Up, steals a cassette tape and brings it back. It’s an entertaining backstory to what is actually a very good mash up – do check out the album – I’m quite impressed. Shame he claims it was a cassette though as the quality is way higher than you’d ever get from a tape – other than that the story is very, ahem, plausible.
Ninite Easy App Installer
I love the idea of Ninite. It’s a simple website which lists loads of common PC programs. Just tick which software you want and it creates a standalone single installer file for you to run to install the selected programs. If you’re just rebuilding a machine after a crash, building a new machine or upgrading to Windows 7 then this will make life a heck of a lot easier – it even stops installation of those ‘extras’ like unwanted toolbars that companies are so fond of sneaking in.
Shattoo pt 232
This has to be a hoax – would anyone honestly be stupid enough to have a brand’s logo tattooed on their arm just to win a macbook pro? Actually don’t answer that.
What does Google know about you>
Google have a new service called Google Dashboard which should show you what Google thinks it knows about you. It simply shows you all activity across any accounts it’s linked together (YouTube, Gmail, Blogger etc). I did smile that it doesn’t have a real address or name for me even after all these years but it does know more about my contacts than I’d like and still no info about cookie data.
Popcorn Covered
I’ve always loved the moog/synth classic Popcorn and assumed most people knew the classic Hot Butter version but yesterday, Bad Altitude sent me a link to Muse’s version and called it the theme tune to the classic retro computer game Digger. I spent many hours playing the game but didn’t remember it being the tune.
There are over 500 known cover versions – here are 79 versions mixed together into a 12 min track!

The excellently named site Napalm Dragon has a beautifully hypnotic slo-mo video up of fire breathing.
Fire, Ugg!
Browser Sandbox
I like this simple Browser Sandbox which allows you to run any browser directly from the web – very handy for web devs.
Into the Zombie Underworld
One fact struck me more than any other in this article about Haiti’s Zombie Underworld and that’s the amount of paperwork involved in transporting zombies!
Nickelback Wikipedia history
I imagine lots of bands suffer similar abuse to what Nickelback endure on Wikipedia, but most are lucky enough not to have someone collecting evidence of it over a five year period and uploading it in a documentary format to You Tube.
Black and WTF
Kim has sent us a link to another tumblr feed for a site called Black and WTF which features stacks of bizarre B&W; images – it’s great!

Mr.B The Gentleman Rhymer is back and brings his first part of the Chap-Hop History – 5 minutes of rap education using the banjolele.

I suspect that management will shortly be forcing us to wear one of Lauren McCarthy’s Happiness Hats.
