Tuper Tario Tros.
Culture Clash! Combine Super Mario with Tetris and you get Tuper Tario Tros.. Very hard until you get your head round it – use arrow keys to move, ‘X’ or ‘S’ to jump and space to swap between games.
Kurt Vonnegut Motivational Posters
”’Kurt Vonnegut”’ is something of a hero round these parts so boviously I’m loving these Kurt Vonnegut Motivational Posters.
How Internet Works
Finally a good technical explanation of How Internet Works that my mum could understand.
Merry Mixmas
Hope you all have great holiday. Here’s some of the best mixmas tapes I found this year:
#1 – I Bet Yule Look Good On The Dancefloor by Goalscrounger
#2 – Sparkle Time by Mr Sweet & Toothless
#3 – I Predict a diet by Bong
XMas Present
As a cheeky Xmas present, have a link to the Flaming Lips cover of Pink Flyod’s classic album Dark Side of the Moon.
Have a good ‘un.
The Booking Office
Plik the Geek points out that the person responsible for The Booking Office website must have an unhealthy level of interest in detail. The site goes into far more detail than it should about one thing – train tickets for British railways. Hi-res scans abound which might be handy if you wanted to print out the blank ones to forge your own tickets.
Roly-Poly Monsters
Roly-Poly Monsters is a fun little web game – should keep you amused for a few minutes.
A Last Concern: A Last Concern – Dont power off song loading
You might remember previous posts of my friend’s band ‘The Good Die Young’ – they’ve since gone their separate ways and Paul’s been in his new band for a while now. They’ve got a stunning new video out which is well worth checking out; A Last Concern – Don’t power off song loading.
VideoLAN Movie Creator
Ooh, Ooh! The very highly respected VLC opensource, cross-platform media player have announced a new program coming soon to Linux, PC and Mac – VLMC – VideoLan Movie Creator – a free, opensource, cross-platform, semi-professional editing program.
Yep, free video editing software that runs on pretty much any machine.
Sweeeet.
HP computers cannot deal with Black Awesomeness
HP’s new laptops are supposed to come with webcams that use facial recognition. Unfortunately I think they sent the engineers a spec with a typo – they seem to come with racial recognition. Desi has a great sense of humour but I don’t think I’d be quite as amused as he is.
Weird Nativity Sets
I was handling this list of 19 Depressing, Crazy and Downright Awful Nativity Scenes quite well until I reached the Human Hair Nativity then I did a little sick in my mouth.
thanks KD
Retro Game Sound Generator
I think I’m in love with this Retro Game Sound Generator. If it wasn’t great as it is, you can export the sounds too. Just fantastic!
Theme for the Day
Today’s theme seems to be urine! Here’s a Brazilian campaign to help save water – pee in the shower instead.
(I promise to try to find a non-wee related post next).
Expensive Golden Shower
As if the name Wii wasn’t gigglesworth enough already, this guy is selling a Golden wii for a rather pointlessly large amount of money.
Moonlander 3D 40th anniversary edition
Local flash guru Seb Lee-Delisle has built a rather tasty 3D version of the Lunar Lander game. Read why he did it here and play the game here
Enhance This
The photoshop Enhance Tool has really come on recently. No-one should have been able to do this in a movie after Harrison Ford in Blade Runner unfortunately he did almost the exact same scene in Patriot Games. At least he didn’t create a GUI Interface (yes, that’s a Graphical User Interface Interface) in Visual Basic to do a traceroute unlike the CSI 1337 squad.
A Pictorial Guide to avoiding Camera Loss
I highly recommend Andrew McDonald’s idea of how to avoid camera loss but I would suggest you don’t just nick his idea and reshoot your own version – otherwise he might end up getting a lot of cameras that aren’t his! Just keep the images on your camera for anyone to see if they find it.
Large Scale Lip Dub
When Shorecrest school challenged Shorewood to make a lip dub, they probably didn’t expect the entire school to get involved and then go even further by doing the whole thing backwards. Very nice job kids.
WTF Costumes
Another specialised blog – this one for fancy dress costumes that make you go WTF.
The original Asylum club in Leeds
Asylum was a club night I ran in Leeds back in the early 90′s, we called it anti rave because we played aggressive loud music that didn’t sit well with ecstasy consumption. Anyway despite the fact that that we did about 14 huge parties in Leeds and London the club night never really got a mention on the internet. So to remedy that I’ve finally got around to scanning and uploading all the flyers to a new Flickr group where people can post their own photos. For those that remember the flyers contained lists of all the music people had requested the month before which makes for some fun Spotify hunting. Anyway please spread the word and scan in those polaroids over xmas break!
Dizzie, Lily, Beyonce, Kanye Christmas messages 2009
From the warped mind of Adam Buxton a sprinkling of festive cheer from the glitterazzi of pop.
Microsoft censor twitter
Those mimsys at Microsoft have made their new Zune Twitter app censor rude words
Have yourself a wicked hardcore christmas

ReMaking “Smack My Bitch Up” in Ableton
Oh man, this takes me back to the days when Carloz and I would spend many hours getting a monitor tan at the screen of an Amiga 500. I’ve not made music like this for a long time but watching Jim Pavloff remake Prodigy’s ‘Smack My Bitch Up’ using ”’Ableton Live”’.
Noughtyisms
Noughtyisms: the best words of the decade. ‘Meh’ is one I use a heck of a lot, I’ve witnessed much ‘smirting’ at work and am currently sporting a ‘pudding ring’.
Awesome Rube Goldberg Machine
Mousetrap for adults with too much time on their hands!
Please don’t say F**K
Someone had the really dumb idea of letting Rage against the machine play live at 9am on a BBC talk radio show today. Guess what happened? yep, they didn’t play the Radio friendly version like they promised too. The presenters we’re so spellbound by what was going on they didn’t cut it and we get to hear a mortified producer screeching ‘get rid of it’ before she finally cuts the broadcast. *update* there is a video version of the live track here
*Edit* Updated the link to the video
Fix Your Own Macs
iFixit have a good reputation over in the USA in the Mac repair field (including iPhones and iPods) and their reputation is destined to grow now that they’ve very graciously agreed to open-source their repair manuals so you can do it yourself.
New Alice in Wonderland Trailer
Ooh, ooh! I’m not exactly sure my kids will enjoy watching this despite it being a Disney movie but hot mama, I’m dribbling with excitement to see ”’Tim burton””s Alice in Wonderland (link to brand new trailer.
Stairway to Heaven Backwards
We’ve covered the somewhat dubious claims of ”’backmasking”’ in the past but this is the simplest way I’ve seen of showing Stairway to Heaven Backwards and many others. For fun, try not to look at the reversed lyrics until you’ve heard it and tried to work out what you think people claimed the messages were (clue: the word Satan crops up a lot!).
