Jesus burned to ground
A giant statue of Jesus outside a church in Ohio in the US has been destroyed by lightning. The glass fibre and plastic foam sculpture caught fire and burned to the ground in what insurance companies have described as an act of God.
Reinventing the (gyro)Wheel
Now this is a genius idea – I never liked the idea of teaching kids to ride a bike using old-fashioned stabilisers so this gyrowheel looks brilliant – it’s the kind of thing you’d buy, use for a few weeks and then happily sell on or give to a friend.

On my recent jaunt down to visit Carloz on the other side of the country mrs grom & I managed to grab a meal with a certain doyboy who recommended that I check out the new Sage Francis album. I’ve got to give it to the doyboy – he’s rarely wrong in matters of music and I’ve kind of fallen in love with the album. It’s rapid-fire spoken word rap with some beautiful orchestration. For a good example here’s the video to ‘The Best of Times’, keep watching as it doesn’t kick in fully until about 3 mins in but the whole thing makes a good start to a Monday morning

The Joker has to be one of the most iconic super villains ever created and whilst he’s not changed too much from his first appearance in 1940 sporting chemically bleached skin, green hair and bright red lips, post Dark Knight he’s become a much darker character and this gallery shows that the life for the Joker is just getting more twisted.

Team Fortress 2 – The Mac Update!
Damn you Gabe Newell, now I have one less reason to jealously mock Mac owners. The best current multiplayer game across is still Team Fortress 2 and it’s now available for the Mac. If you own it for the PC then it’s free, but everyone, PC owners and Mac owners can grab a copy and play all weekend for free.

It’s not often in these days of ‘meh-ness’ that the interwebz has created that I genuinely find myself saying ‘What The…?!?!’ out loud but watching this talent show Lip-sync performance from the Phillipines is one of them – creepy, spooky and just…well, watch Whitney being done like never before – just keep watching to the end. Makes Lady Gaga look like a two bit hooker (not that she needs any help).

The Worst thing about BP
I used to think that the worst thing about BP was that they were called British Petroleum and I don’t really like being associated with them. It’s not the worst thing though, Rachel Maddow had a segment on her show last week that shows that the worst thing about BP is that they don’t learn – pretty much everything about the recent leak/spill is that it’s all happened before in 1979
That makes some scary viewing as the events mirror almost exactly the events so far this year.
Greenpeace are trying to rebrand the BP Logo of which more here and here.
