Compare and Contrast

Compare what happens when you try to shoot some video in a public place in Britain…

(police try to arrest 16 yr old id and shove him down stairs because he is taking photos in a public place – trouble is, the kid knows his rights and humiliates the police)
…with what happens when you try to take a video of the police in Sweden.

(That guy must be related to techno-viking!

25 Years on from the PMRC

I’ve written about my disgust about Al and Tipper Gore’s awful PMRC back in the 80′s which led to massive censorship of music and those warning stickers on cds. Well, as much as I’m not a fan of Dee Snider, you have to admit he certainly has a point…

Nintendo Mod Cartridges Now Illegal in the UK

Very unhappy to hear about this ruling. I’m confused that you can ban something on the grounds that ‘It might be used for both illegal and non-infringing purposes’. I could stab someone with scissors or I could cut paper with them, so surely scissors should be banned too? I use one of these carts – it saves my kids from breaking and losing the very expensive games and I’m quite addicted to the Colors homebrew application which needs one of these carts to run.

Stoatally Drunk

Brew Dog are like a punk brewery. they have created some very bizarre beers indeed as well as some of the strongest. The End of History is a 55%abv beer (yes, really!) served in a bottle stuffed inside a dead animal. Only 12 bottles were produced, 7 stoats and 4 grey squirrels (it doesn’t mention what the other bottle was) and all have sold out.
thanks Kim

“The Yes Men” Movie Launching on BitTorrent

If you’ve not heard of culture jamming pranksters The Yes Men, fire up your favourite Torrent app and download their new film in which they pose as corporations, governmental organizations and NGOs they believe are hypocritical or enacting harmful policies. They’re very cool guys and they get totally freaked out by the scale of what they’re achieving!

30 Old PC Ads That Will Blow Your Processor

I am old enough to have not only seen most of these adverts when they came out but also to have owned many of the computers.. The cheaper ones though – looking at these 30 Old PC Ads That Will Blow Your Processor, it’s not the specs that amaze me but the prices – jaw-dropping.

Seinfeld – the action movie trailer

This could be the start of a good meme: re-arranging clips from a TV series to make an action-thriller movie trailer. So here is a Seinfeld trailer edited together with clips from the Serenity Now episode.

Possibly the best game ending…..ever

When it was revealed that the PC adventure ‘Limbo of the Lost’ had lifted its art assets from a slew of other games it was pulled from shelves and we never got to see it’s amazing finale.

PC gamers rinse XBOX gamers

Rumour has it that Microsoft had to pull a project where PC gamers got to compete with XBOX gamers because the console players we’re getting thrashed so badly it was a PR disaster waiting to happen for XBOX.

Newport State of Mind

Lovely riposte to Alicia Keys from Newport in Wales. It’s worth listening to if only for the extraordinary Welsh accent – if there weren’t subtitles you wouldn’t believe it was English.

Bizarre bike helmets

I do like these bizarre bike helmets designed by Russian ad agency Good, but I’m not sure I’d want to ride around with a giant tennis ball or ’8 ball’ on my head. Then again, having a ‘sexy bum’ on my helmet would possibly encourage drivers to be more bike aware (erk did that sound wrong?)

Just too odd

So yesterday David Cameron gave Barack Obama a Ben Eine piece as he is one of Samantha’s favourite artists. Since when did the Tory elite get into streetart! Anyway I guess this means the value of Grom and my art collections is going to rocket or more likely plummet.

It’s official: video games are bad for your health

Kid reacts badly to his mother cancelling his WOW account, but he’ll probably react even worse to the fact that kid brother secretly recorded his ‘freak out’ and uploaded it to YouTube.

Update: Apparently it’s already been outed as a fake, I thought the bit where he tried to stick his tv remote up his bum was quite convincing.
