Underground Leeds
I’ve been investigating doing a subterranean trek through Leeds for ages and, whilst I’m still a long way off from accomplishing this, I did want to give props to Phill Davison who has documented most of the hidden/underground/lost bits of Leeds on numerous sites. He’s active on Secret Leeds and Flickr and his Myspace page hosts some of his fascinating essays on things like forgotten air raid shelters in Leeds and even the ghost train station in Manchester that I visited backs in the late 80′s. He was featured on Culture Vulture. I just want to know when he’s going to put together a full multi-media show or at the very least a large coffe table book of his images and essays.
Here’s his video of the infamous (to many of my friends) ‘Ladybeck’ route that goes follows Meanwood Beck for a few miles right under Leeds and comes out near my work (by the Royal Armouries)
