The Google Blacklist Christmas Card

The Google Blacklist Christmas Card generates a rude Xmas card from words blacklisted by Google Instant (not google search as the site says).

Obviously NSFW.

Why didn’t anyone tell me that the BBC are finally (after decades of not repeating them) showing The Goodies again?

What Happens When You Steal a Hackers Computer

If you’re going to steal someone’s computer, try not to steal one belonging to a hacker. A highly entertaining and informative video about pwning a burglar.

Word Lens

I got so wrapped up in showing everyone Word Lens that I totally forgot to post it here the other day. This is a truly mindblowing app. Seriously, it’s game-changing. You know that jet-pack you wanted in the future? And that tricorder? And the meal in a pill? They’re a lot closer now. It’s iPhone for now but other versions coming soon. It’s free to get the app but you pay for language packs but even free you can see how powerful it is with the built-in demos. If you want to amaze your friends this Christmas, find an iPhone and dump this onto it.

Smallest Periodic Table

Eccentric, borderline mad, scientists have been long loved by the British – just think of Magnus Pyke, Heinz Wolff, Patrick Moore, Johnny Ball et al. Professor Martyn Poliakoff fits in nicely with this lot and I love this video of him getting his birthday present – the Periodic Table etched in 4 micron letters onto a hair from his head

Best Movie News Today

All too often we get news about a forthcoming movie which strikes fear into our hearts – you know the feeling, it sounds great but you just know Hollywood will cock it up magnificently and dash your dreams and hopes. Luckily I don’t think there is any way they could messthis up.

Isle of Tune

I love tunes and with Isle of Tune I can love them even more. Draw a road, add a car or two, some trees and building and bingo – instant tune. It’s no different to many other music creation tools but it’s simple and cute. Oh, and rather addictive. Be sure to check out the Top 50 – some crackers in there (I’m particularly partial to the simplicity of the version of Kraftwerk’s ‘Computer Love’)

kim jong-il looking at things

We love our beloved leader here at prime towers, especially when he’s looking at things. The internet has us covered with the rather special site – kim jong-il looking at things. It even features a shot of a very impressive 3d painting of the little man.
cheers Dan

Summer of 85 by Argos

Someone with a little too much time on their hands has scanned in an entire 1985 Argos catalogue. So the big questions is did you spend more time lusting after page 224 or 225?

Irish people tend to swear a fair bit.
This is the funniest thing I’ve seen for quite a while and is made ten times funnier in the last few seconds.

The Dark Side of Everest

Mount Everest is a very evocative name. It’s the most widely known mountain in the world and despite the amount of publicity regualrly seen for people making attempts, the huge death toll is often overlooked. For every 10 people attempting to summit, one has died. What’s mentioned even less of the time is that most of the bodies are still there and mountaineers attempting to summit walk within feet of years old bodies strewn along the route. Abandoned on Everest is a very good article on this with some very graphic photographs. Well worth a read.

Drugs Depicted by Alice in Wonderland

Ever since it was published people have tried to suggest the Alice in Wonderland is a druggie book but none more so than the Disney depiction. Needs a soundtrack.

Wiley Vs. Rhodes

Really sorry for the lack of updates – I’ve been away on a course all week and had no time to use a computer for anything non-course related so I’m massively behind on emails and bloggage.
Have a very well made live action cartoon a la Roadrunner
