Actors Acting!
Asking actors to, ahem, act doesn’t sound too impressive but photographer Howard Schatz has done an excellent series of Actors in Character. Each actor has three poses to make one shot and it’s strangely illuminating.
Angry Birds Cake
Not being an iFan or even android enabled (yet) I have yet to succumb to the allure of Angry Birds, but this Playable Angry Bird Cake is, as the tedious would have it “full of win”
How to do everything
Ask most people what the largest source of human knowledge is and some people might say Wikipedia, others will choose google but that kind of resource doesn’t tell you ‘how’ to do something. CD3WD is a 16GB collection of manuals on how to do most things needed to survive. There’s an online version for browsing but the idea is to grab the lot for offline use. It’s aimed at the third world so obviously concentrates heavily on farming but after the zombie apocalypse I’d like to ensure I had a copy to hand.
Sword Dance and Shadow Play
You’ve got to watch this amazing piece of synchronisation between samurai and projector. Just watch. Really, stop reading and watch the damn thing. Now.
Graphic Violence
Picking up from freddiew‘s beautifully creative videos, CorridorDigital have taken up the mantle with some stunning videos and the obligatory making-ofs.
The BRIT Awards 2011
I turned on the tv last night thinking I’d watch a few minutes of the Brit Awards and then find something better to watch. I mean, come on – it’s the Brits. No decent music there – it has had it’s fair share of *ahem* notable moments though.
Ok, I’m ready to accept I was wrong. It was actually a superb show – stunning performances from Adele (Utterly Superb!), Arcade Fire (stunning as usual), Plan B (riot police in flames), Mumford & Sons (intimate and emotional), Cee-Lo Green with Paloma Faith (having lots of fun)
Discover Fresh Local Food and Drink
We’ve posted over 10,000 posts on this site over the past 10 years so you should know by now that we like cool things and when we see something very cool we want to share it with you all. I’ve been waiting to be able to post this for a long time now and finally I can.
lovefre.sh is a new html5 web app and iphone app (android & other OS’ coming soon). It was developed by Mark Spofforth, an online friend of mine, along with his team and they have created a simply wonderful application that allows you to discover where to buy fresh food and drink near wherever you are and let everyone know about it easily. It’s one of those apps that works so intuitively and fluidly that it belies the complexity underneath. It looks gorgeous too. I could write pages more about how much I love this but just go and check it out yourself and give it a whirl – I’m not saying that you will use it every day but give it a test and you’ll soon find it useful. The more users it gets the better it will be.
Sony PS3 Lulz
For those that don’t know, the private key that secures the Playstation 3 was found a few weeks ago. This means anyone can develop code and the Playstation thinks it’s been signed by an official source which means the PS3 is effectively cracked open. The code was only sought after Sony removed a feature from the PS3 that allowed it to run a version of Linux called OtherOS. People weren’t happy that something they were legitimately using was removed without warning. Since then Sony have gone from bad to worse and recently started issuing subpoenas to youtube, twitter, Facebook etc demanding to know private identifying information on anyone who posts the code or even watches a video demonstrating the code. The funniest thing is that every article I’ve seen mentioning this always has the code posted in the comments below by various wiseguys but even funnier was the person who managed to trick Playstation VP Kevin Butler into tweeting PS3′s security key. He’s now as liable as everyone else they are pursuing.
Formula One Car Comparison 2011 vs. 2010
Nice sliding images to show the difference between the 2011 vs. 2010 Ferrari, Sauber and MacLaren cars.
Also wishing the best of recoveries to Robert Kubica after his horrendous crash yesterday. He partly severed one hand, had fractures to arms and legs and is currently in a controlled coma. To my mind he is one of the best drivers out there and would have certainly won the championship one day – let’s hope he can get back to his old form as soon as possible.
The Simpsons McBain Easter Egg
A new hidden easter egg has surfaced in the Simpsons. It turns out that if you take all of the mini-clips of inhouse action spoof McBain and run them together they make a mini movie complete with story arc and plot.
Duty Calls
You will never be able to play Call of Duty or any similar game seriously after watching this video. Funniest thing I’ve seen in a while and I MUST Have that ‘boring’ bullet sound hacked into every game I play.
Not Everything on the Inturwebz is True
I resisted posting an image that was sent to me by several people last week on the grounds that it seemed fake. I’m always glad (& smug) to be proved right once again.
The Ugly Bugs Ball
I discovered today that ladybirds go through a stage of their life when they are butt-ugly and quite scary looking. From here.
Grow Cannon
Yay – another in the series of superb ‘Grow’ games is out – this time it’s Grow Cannon.
