#I am spartacus

So there’s an amusing twist to the story of the guy who was prosecuted for tweeting that he wanted to blow up Robin Hood airport. Today the No1 trending hashtag for the UK is now #iamspartacus where thousands of people are threatening to blow the airport up too.

Cake delivery

You’ll be able to work out what is going to happen in this video from the first few seconds of the clip, but it’s still very much worth watching.

KiteSurfer jumps Brighton Pier

We’d been hearing rumours that Lewis Crathern, the ex-British Kitesurfing Champion who jumped Worthing pier last year jumped Brighton’s Palace Pier yesterday. Well, it turns out he did, and here’s the video to prove it. Good to see someone making good use of a thoroughly disgusting day.

Unintended consequences of marketing

Has anyone here ever seen a dynamically placed advert that’s been of any use to them? The location based ones offer you discount hotels in the place you live and the product ones try to sell you things you’ve already bought. However the worst ones are the keyword ads that serve up banners based on the copy on the page. Needless to say they often go very very wrong.

Shapes of landscapes

Unlike in England where we have very limited space to build our urban and suburban spaces, American planners can have much more fun when designing these spaces. These arial photos show the patterns they have created when designing human spaces in Florida.

Japanese animal construction barriers

In Japan even the construction barriers are made to look cute. Featuring animals such as rabbits, frogs, penguins, monkeys, and what is presumed to be raccoons or tanuki these road works look ace.

12 footballers who look like famous women

I know I’m not supposed to mention the ‘F’ word here, but the likeness of Blanche from Coronation Street to Arsene Wenger did make me chuckle! Not that I’m bitter about the trashing Spurs got on Tuesday night from Arsenal, although Harry may not find this pic snapped after the game so amusing!

I am the client

Terrifyingly accurate portrayal of the sort of missguided sense of reality that often ends up guiding people who commission work from the creative industries. Reminds me of Kill your friends by John Niven which is a must read for anyone who’s had the misfortune to have any dealings with a record company.

The pros and cons of home working

Having been stuck at home for the past three weeks with a very broken leg I do believe that working from home will eventually drive anyone crazy. And even though offices are generally godforsaken places I think I’d still prefer working in one rather than working from home.
